One Voice is in full swing! Word has it that in just under 2 days open this fundraiser has brought in just over $7500.00 USD. That’s nearly 1/3 of the amount needed to cover the approximately 20k in legal fees needed for Gala to fight her case. THAT IS AMAZING, FANTASTIC,NO WORDS CAN EXPLAIN. This is your opportunity to make a stand against content theft, and for standing up for not just Gala Phoenix, but really for all content creators that put their love into creating their content for us.
What is One Voice?
Curio’s Gala Phoenix is currently in the midst of legal issues which have resulted in her content being removed from the grid, pending the outcome of her legal battle. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) process in Second Life requires that when there is legal action taken against your content, Linden Lab will remove it from the grid until a ruling is made. Gala’s fellow content creators have come together to host a fundraiser to help with the substantial legal costs she will incur in contesting these baseless claims.
When is it?
The fundraiser will be held from July 9-22.
Where are the funds going towards?
While the funds raised at this event is intended to help offset Gala Phoenix’s costs, it should be noted that the event is not just for her. One Voice is about coming together as a community to recognize and support the rights of ALL legitimate content creators who for many SL is their main source of income. What has happened to Gala could happen to any other content creator. It’s necessary that we stand up and fight back to ensure that it doesn’t.
