Happy Independence Day to all! Progressives got a VERY happy result in the recent June 26 New York Democratic 
primary race for congressional district 14. With the victory of 28 year old Democratic Socialist and former Bernie Sanders supporter Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (a complete 
newcomer to political office) over 10- term Representative, the 56 year old Joe Crowley, Democrats have veered to the left and have chosen not only relative youth, but a regular working person over a traditional politician.
Crowley, who had actually skipped two debates with the victor and instead sent a stand-in, had risen steadily up Democratic Party circles over his 20 years in Congress, and was actually just below former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. He would have succeeded Pelosi were she to retire, and Democrats were to regain control of the House, but instead he was defeated in the primary and will now leave Congress next January. To his credit, he immediately endorsed Ocasio-Cortez to replace him in this fall’s general election. In this heavily Democratic district, she is considered a sure winner.
Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s energy and enthusiasm are astounding. She is a third-generation New Yorker whose family roots go back to Puerto Rico. She is an advocate of Medicare For All, and also favors abolishing ICE . She also is greatly in favor of restrictions on luxury real estate development, something that will irritate real estate mogul Presi-dunce Donald Chump. GOOD!
She did an interview with Vogue a while back, just before she left to visit the ghastly child detention center Chump has set up in Tornillo, TX to house innocent children who have become pawns in Chump’s immoral family separation policy to deter immigrants from trying to come here. In it, she said, “…my aunt and my uncle were just talking last Christmas about how they literally heard Malcolm X evangelizing on street corners. That is the institutional memory of my family and multigenerational New York families. It’s actually kind of a rarity, and the reason it’s a rarity is because of the changes that the city has gone through. This city is becoming too inaccessible and too unaffordable for normal people to live in anymore. My family is three generations deep in the Bronx, and my own mother can’t afford to live in the same city, in the same state as me anymore, because it’s gotten too expensive. How I was born I think is really exemplary of that.
I was born to a dad who was born in the South Bronx while the Bronx was burning, while landlords were committing arson to their own buildings. He grew up as a kid with five people in a one-bedroom apartment, and my mom was born in poverty in Puerto Rico. But they met out there, they got married, came back, and had me, and as 20-somethings they were able to take out a small loan and get an apartment in the Bronx, and have me. And the idea of that, for two working-class 20-somethings, it’s almost unimaginable in New York City anymore. New York 14 is one of those last working-class congressional districts in New York City. These communities are very rapidly seeing the cost of living go up: In the last three years or so, the median price of a two-bedroom apartment in New York 14 has gone up 80 percent. Our incomes certainly aren’t going up 80 percent to compensate for that, and what that is doing is a wave of aggressive economic displacement of the communities that have always been here. If this wasn’t even economic, if it was any other force, if due to climate change, or due to any other kind of a social force that would cause like that amount of displacement that quickly, we would call it a crisis. And that, I think, is the core of a lot of what we’re talking about: Who is New York changing for? A lot of people, especially in our community, are feeling like it’s changing to be a temporary playground rather than a place for people to actually raise families and transform their own economic opportunities and their own lives.”
Like President Barack Obama before her, she became an activist and a community organizer. It se4med to her that with every community action she undertook, someone from DSA ( ) was there also taking part. Regarding her affiliation with a “socialist” group, she said, “I think what it really means is 
just democratic participation in our economic dignity, and our economic, social, and racial dignity. It is about direct representation and people actually having power and stake over their economic and social wellness, at the end of the day. To me, what socialism means is to guarantee a basic level of dignity. It’s asserting the value of saying that the America we want and the America that we are proud of is one in which all children can access a dignified education. It’s one in which no person is too poor to have the medicines they need to live. It’s to say that no individual’s civil rights are to be violated. And it’s also to say that we need to really examine the historical inequities that have created much of the inequalities—both in terms of economics and social and racial justice—because they are intertwined. This idea of, like, race or class is a false choice. Even if you wanted to separate those two things, you can’t separate the two, they are intrinsically and inextricably tied. There is no other force, there is no other party, there is no other real ideology out there right now that is asserting the minimum elements necessary to lead a dignified American life.”
This blogger is in complete agreement with her. Since the Reagan-era of more than 30 years ago, far too many Democrats have lost their edginess and have, in effect, become what I call “Republican Lite. They pay lip-se5rvice, at best, to the valued and still-needed beneficial programs of the New Deal and the Great Society. They have sided with reactionary CON-servative Republicans to help pass unneeded and very costly tax breaks for the wealthy and have rolled back much0needed social programs. They have let Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and now Donald Chump bully them away from programs which lead to a more equal economic playing field.They have aided these uncaring Republicans in creating a record disparity in wealth, and that is neither desirable nor healthy!
THAT is why the election of Alexandroa Ocasio-Cortez, and a great many others just like her to Congress is so vitally important right now, and THAT is why progressives should be inspired and overjoyed! 🙂

Kidnapping is a felony. So is murder. Both are VERY serious crimes, and those who are guilty of them are usually locked up for many years, sometimes doing continual hard labor. Who would have ever imagined we would be cursed with a president who would direct that thousands of innocent immigrant children, some too young to even speak, wowld be deliberately separated from their parents and put into huge detention centers? PLEASE pinch me, and wake me from this unfathomable nightmare! For that is exactly what that overgrown bully, Presi-dunce Donald Chump is doing, and it is not only criminal. but nauseating too! 
“zero tolerance” policy has been instituted by hateful nativist ideologues like senior presidential advisor Stephen Miller, and is now being run by the unhuman criminal Secretary of Health and Human 
Services Alex Azar, another hateful wild-eyed nativist fanatic. Their sordid aim is to provide a strong deterrent for would-be illegal border crossers to enter this country unlawfully, but in reality, all they are actually doing is punishing darker-skinned immigrants and severely traumatizing their innocent young children for life. Their actions are un-American and anti-liberty at best, and racist at worst. With a great amount of anti-immigrant paranoia evident, they don’t care in the least about whether or not these would-be immigrants want to enter this country because they fear for their lives back home – they simply don’t give a shit. All they want is to keep these people OUT as long as they can. 
Secretary Azar has told the media his agency is keeping close tabs on exactly where these children’s parents are and is encouraging active and ongoing communication between them. That, of course, is a God-damned blatant LIE, as that bastard has no clue about which specific child belongs to which specific parent – nor does he give a shit, either. It is inconceivable to me that such a hateful, self-absorbed son of a bitch should be getting paid handsomely, on the public payroll, rather than breaking rocks for 10 hours each day in a prison yard somewhere. 
The architect of this despicable policy, senior political advisor Stephen Miller, is an ignorant dullard who obviously hates foreigners. The goof surely has ice rather than blood flowing through his veins, as he has definitely never given a moment’s thought to the victims he is creating with this forced deprivation. Such callousness and utter disregard for the feelings and well-being of these thousands of small children, as well as their parents, must NOT go unpunished! Justice DEMANDS that this bastard pay a very high price for such ignorant lack of concern and absence of compassion. This goof should do DOUBLE the time of the other perpetrators of this heinous action! 
Let us not forget his fellow goofball-in-arms: Attorney General Jeff Sessions. This imbecile shares a good part of the blame for instituting this atrocity. How this confused idiot ever got into college, let alone graduated from it (and law school as well), and then was able to become an attorney and actually practice law, is astounding and 
But, the very longest and most severe punishment of all should go to the man who is directing all of this hatred against immigrants – the Kidnapper- in-chief: Donald Chump himself! His misadministration is the most corrupt and disingenuous of all time, and his totally unfounded paranoia about immigrants and the supposedly bad effect they have on our country is downright dangerous. This extremely sullen and obviously mentally-disturbed old man is hopelessly out of touch with all but the very wealthy and select foreign dictators, and poses a very real menace to the rest of humanity. Numerous studies have shown that overall numbers of immigrants have been actually decreasing over the past decade, yet this fearmongering jerk is trying to scare us with LIES about how, if we don’t act now, we will be overrun with “millions” of people attempting to violate our borders, and even waves the threat of violent MS-13 gang members invading us! As such, we must strive to have him removed from office; prosecuted for conspiracy to kidnap and steal small children; abuse of power; crimes against humanity; and for depriving immigrants (ESPECIALLY the defenseless young children!) of their civil liberties;! He must also be CONVICTED; and then sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison at hard labor, with no chance of parole! Justice demands this, and we MUST rise to the call and follow through with this imprisonment to serve as a warning to any future despot if we are to truly live up to the motto of the “land of the free and home of the brave” we so often claim to be! The only thing that would keep Chump from receiving a death sentence for his actions would be that he is allowing these unfortunate people to live – but he is, in effect – murdering their chance to enjoy a relatively emotionally secure life!

dictator Kim Jong Un. Chump was, predictably, his grandstanding, boisterous bigmouth blowhard self as he congratulated his having had the summit. He sounded much like the late British prime minister Neville Chamberlain as he Tweeted reassurances to the world that they could now sleep easier. As one who has followed this egomaniac for years, this was just another example of his bluster designed to make him look good while doing little of any real value for anyone else. The four main “achievements” of this summit were predictably vague, nonverifiable, and meaningless:
But here on the home front, Chump’s many inactions as our chief executive mirror those of the fabled Nero. A perfect recent example is how Chump called off a traditional meeting with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles to draw attention (again!) to his displeasure with the way certain NFL players had chosen to kneel rather than stand during the playing of the national anthem. It didn’t matter that none of the Eagles had taken part in this activity, or even that the true reason for the action was to protest police brutality toward African-Americans nationwide (Chump has repeatedly refused to recognize its actual significance, and has instead deemed it to be a deliberate unpatriotic act by black athletes – just so he could maintain his appeal to white racists). Yep – just as long as Chump could make headlines for himself – that’s all he really cared about! The phony moron couldn’t even remember the words to “God Bless America” as it was being played at the ceremony HE had devised to replace the original one – give us all a big break, you

Presi-dunce Donald Chump abruptly called off his June 12meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un a week ago. It was a typically perplexing move for Chump in many Asian capitols, but it should really surprise nobody. The impulsive Chump had recklessly rushed 
into this proposed summit with woefully little preparation in the first place, and his vice presi-dense Mike Pence didn’t help one bit with his comment about how North Korea could “end up like Libya” and his warning to not “play” Chump. Pence was obviously and quite stupidly unaware of how that vreference to Libya (whose leader was killed shortly afyer he had dumped his nukes) would be taken adversely by the Pyongyang regime. 
Chump didn’t even bother to consult with South Korea’s President Moon Dae-in before making this rash announcement nor did he inform either nearby Japan, China, or even his hand-picked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo! Thanks to Chump’s equally idiotic and warmongering National Security Advisor John Bolton, who insisted that North Korea 
destroy its nuclear stockpile, North Korea appeared ready to call the summit off, but the headline-grabbing Chump beat them to the punch. Chump’s disgustingly spoiled, oblivious, and snarky son Donald Chump, Jr. tweeted out “the art of the deal, baby.” Like father, like son in terms of ignorance and arrogance… 
instinctively worked out by Chump. If so, it is a very twisted one. Chump was captured on video, about to board his

The smugness and uncertainty he weaves into almost every public pronouncement he makes shields the real reason for his inability to act predictably or even decisively: that he has no clue of what his next move will be, and is trying to camouflage it with vagueness. Very regrettably, this bumbling oaf will soon find that the world will dismiss his every utterance as bullshit and not worth their time. It is highly evident that Chump must begin to leave his vastly overblown ego at the door and realize that our world does NOT revolve around hun personally! This is NOT the country I was born into and grew up in, Mr. Chump – what the hell do you think you’re up to, anyway?!?
There is absolutely NO excuse for these actions. The narcissistic Chump MUST be held to account for implementing this horrible policy, which violates these childrens’ (as well as their parents’) human rights and is causing them needless emotional stress, insecurity, and trauma – much of which they may never recover from fully! And, at the height of this controversy, the worthless scoundrel and his wretched party met by themselves to “discuss” the problem. After talking about many other topics, Chump finally briefly mentioned they had better deal with this “separation” issue that HE had instituted and was responsible for! Along the way, this worthless, lying, utter son of a bitch has had the GALL to blame this fiasco on the Democrats, the party which is completely out of power and has NOT had any say in implementing this rotten policy decision whatsoever!
I am completely appalled by the actions that have been taken by these extreme nationalists, and – if I may beg your pardon, readers, – I will say only this:

This was done in a Republicans-only conference at the White House between Chump and certain key GOP congressional members. Chump said again that the Democrats are “weak on border security” and would prefer to let “anybody” cross our borders while he and the GOP were “strong” on the issue and
