Upon knowing the renewal of my passport. My brother booked me a flight via Philippine Airlines from the 19th of April to the 13th of May in 2024. I was to travel by myself.
It was my first solo trip. The first time I travelled to Singapore was twenty years ago. I travelled with my sis in laws, mom and two sisters. I was not paying much attention then, as I had company traveling with me. I am not much of a traveller. Not even a local traveller. I saved money in the best way I could.
After the pandemic, there have been various reports of human trafficking. Philippine Immigration had been very strict on solo travelers, especially for first-time travelers. I am not a first-time traveler abroad. However, my first travel could have been deleted from our Immigration records. Hence, I would be treated as a first-time traveller.
I watched several YouTubers. I gathered the answers to my questions from them. Like reasons why some travelers were off-loaded. How do we reply to the questions of our Immigration officer? What are the items allowed in carry-on luggage? I memorized all the travel tips.
My brother booked my round trip ticket at trip.com. He emailed me my ticket. Upon receipt of the ticket. I registered my travel itinerary on the website of Philippine Airlines. I made sure I added my contact email and phone number.
Three days after my registration. I received an email from Philippine Airlines that my first booking was canceled. The Airbus, accordingly, will not be available on the day my round trips were scheduled. I could cancel the booking or I could reschedule the time, but on the same day. They need my reply at once.
I informed my bro and sis in law of the changes. I was pleased with my curiosity to have advanced thinking. I know my bro was busy. He may not be able to see and reply at once to the email of trip.com had he receive email from them.
On specific days allowed. These were the things I did.
1. I checked in my luggage online on the website of my airline – https://www.philippineairlines.com/ph/en/check-in-online.html
2. I paid my travel tax online at https://tieza.gov.ph/online-travel-tax-payment-system/
3. I created an account at https://etravel.gov.ph/ to fill out my day of departure from the Philippines. Then, arrival to the Philippines.
4. I filled out the arrival card to Singapore – https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-transit-depart/entering-singapore/sg-arrival-card
Please note that if you are not in the Philippines. You may not be able to access the Philippine website I indicated here. However, please feel free to check them out. These are legitimate websites. My next blog post will be about my experience at the Philippine airport. Also, my arrival at Changi Airport in Singapore. I do not want to bore my readers with my long blog post.
