I’ve been busy since I got home on Wednesday with the Government. They’re after me! No, I’m after them and their money right now. Because I can’t work at the moment and I don’t know for how long it will be like this.
Anyhoo! There might be a rant coming up about the Thorin Look and why everyone should just calm down! I’m talking about the Nay-Sayers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Different opinions are fun. I’m talking about the ones that are freaking out just a little. It’ll be just fine, folks! Don’t worry so much! Please.
So anyway. Lately I have been interested in learning some make up tips and tricks. I never used to be interested in this sort of thing. I was a tom boy when I was young and really anti-fashion when I was a teen. My personal style was grunge before grunge became cool again. And again. I grew out of that phase and like to look a little nice and put together now and then.
My mom only wears lipstick and occasionally some mascara, so I had to look to the internet to learn how to put on make-up. Michelle Phan and Pixiwoo are my favourites. Here are a few of my favourites that I found useful for most days. I’ll just post some Michelle Phan ones in this post, but Pixiwoo’s videos are very good too.
Natural Beauty Tut0rial
This is a natural look that I like to use any day that I go out to do errands or shopping or to hang out with some friends. I like this video because she emphasizes that taking care of your skin is more important than how much make-up you wear. If you take care of it, you wont need to wear as much make-up. Her skin care routine is a little high maintenance for me, though. Basically all I do is cleanse and moisturize with the cheapest products I can afford 😉 But it does the trick. I also like how she uses the white eyeliner on her eyes. Sometimes it’s the only thing I wear on my eyes, along with mascara. Then if I want to wear something a little more in the evening, I just use a darker lipstick and add a little thicker line of eyeliner. Instant evening look!
Mascara 101
“A mascara is definitely not a one size fits for all.” I didn’t know that before I watched this video. This video taught me which mascara I should use for my lash type. From now on I’m buying mascara with a waxier base because I have thin lashes.
Green Goodness (Green Tea-Avocado Face Mask)
One thing I love about Michelle Phan is that she is always showing us how to make natural cleansers and masks that are healthy, easy to make, and usually inexpensive. I couldn’t find the link to my most favourite face mask tutorial, but I like this one just as well. I love avocado in general. And green tea. I think I’ll make myself a cup after I publish this post, mmmm.
Her fashion and hair videos are interesting too. Though my hair isn’t long enough for the “hair scarf” but maybe I’ll try it one day.
Alright, green tea, here I come.
(And maybe I’ll finish off that Hobbit post as well)
