Hi Everyone,

March 24, 2010 is Ada Lovelace Day. This means that almost 2000 of us have made a pledge to blog about a woman in science of technology.

I've picked a more quite member of the Array language community Ferranti's Girl

A good day to read Fran

A good day (it's still the 24th here!) to read Fran Allen's interview in Coders at Work.

Dear Everyone

I want to thank you for passing by my blog yesterday and today (you're still coming!) to read my post in honour of Ada Lovelace Day.

As most of you already know, I am in the research phase for a documentary about APL and its daughter array languages (A, J, K, Q). I have a unique perspective on this subject because my father was one of the original implementers of APL at IBM starting back when I was a very tiny child in the 1960s. And because of this connection, I have the privilege of knowing many many many super smart language designers and implementers over the last 40+ years.

So far two things are true:
1. This is the most challenging undertaking of my life.
2. I am receiving the most amazing support both from within ranks of array programmers and the broader community.

I am committed to sharing my experiences with the film making process and I certainly hope that I can entertain you enough to keep you coming back to the blog.
