Course Description

As products of natural processes, gardens seem timeless. As designed
spaces, however, gardens are historical expressions of changing tastes
and styles. This course will provide a broad overview of the history of
garden and landscape design from its beginnings to recent developments
in environmental and sustainable design. The goal of the course will be
to provide students with an historical grounding for their own work as
gardeners by introducing them to a wide range of design types and
styles.
