Hackers enter computer system through unauthorized access and when they are caught, they’re saying that they actually did a service to the organization to test its security systems. Is it something that organization should care about? Should they create proper steps in improving securities? The answer for that would be a big yes! Hackers could be a big help for an organization in creating a better computer system that would prevent another malicious hackers from gaining access. Although hackers give awareness to the organization in improving securities, hacking has a darker side. They might have some malicious activities such as sending viruses, malware and other destructive things that would definitely destroy the computer system. They might also have the capacity to see company’s financial and banking details and other confidential personal information. After all, I would like to suggest that every organization should hire hackers to test their system security that would improve the quality of their system.
We still need them…
Human made software to help them in making better decisions. As an increasing amount of decision making is carried out by software, the question is “Do we still need to look for college-educated workers to help in creating a good decision?”
To answer that question let us first consider the fact that “human made software” and not the other way around. It implies that software can’t surmount the intelligence possess by humans. But we must also consider that there are things that only software has the capacity to do such as storing a vast of data and information in a database needed in making decision. But should it be a good reason in replacing college-educated students with software? Why remove them from the decision making process? Although humans don’t have the capability to store and control information gathered, they are still ones who manipulate software. Software, on the other hand, cannot identify what’s right or wrong.
Finally, I do still believe that the demand for college educated students won’t diminish for the fact that software could never exceed the intelligence possess by humans.
Will Bookstores Disappear?
Web has already substituted video stores in some parts of the world. What would be the next service that would come to an end? Well, we can now add bookstores in the growing list of the things that will disappear in the next generation. Is it something that we expect to happen in the future? Should we care?
Nowadays, people are very fond of browsing and downloading e-books through the use of Web. It is easier to browse the books we want in just a single click by entering the related terms (author, title, subject, etc.) in the internet search engine. Beside of its instant accessibility, e-books provide convenience of bringing hundreds of different books in a smaller reader device or gadget. Bookstores, on the other hand, require us to scan the shelves on our own way to look the books we need which is time consuming. But still, bookstores allow us to spend time in exploring a great collection of traditional printed books.
After all, e-books and traditional printed books have their places. Unfortunately, the rise of online bookstores such as amazon is one of the causes why there is a continuous decline in the sales of printed books which will trigger to the extinction of bookstores in the future.
Yes for OSS
Nowadays, open source software is very popular around the globe basically because it free to use and very accessible to everyone. We cannot deny the fact that each one of us wants to avail free services online. We get used to it. Right?I really agree with the idea that open source software will proliferate. The reason behind this, we are living in a world where web is evolving and people are fond of availing services for FREE but it still depends if they like the product or not.
So to elaborate more of the advantages of using open source software, I’ve got here a list of some of its benefits.
- Developers of open source software can obtain the source code free of charge, usually on the Web.
- Anyone who can contribute features or fix bugs is invited to do so.
- Anyone who wishes to download the latest version can do so free of charge.
- An open source program can be developed by a random group of programmers, rather than by a single company.
- Programmers share an application’s basic code, find its weaknesses, debug it, and contribute new pieces.

We Want, We Need
We want a gadget. We can live without it.
We need a helpful device. We can’t live without it.
There’s indeed a big difference between a gadget and a helpful device.
Nowadays, People are very fond of searching and buying latest gadgets offered in the market. Gadgets are those devices created for recreation. People desire gadgets to satisfy their wants. Too much time spending on them can develop unhealthy lifestyle. Yes, it may give us a pleasurable feeling yet it can only last for a short period of time. It’s also wrong to say that these can only leave negative impacts. It can help us to improve our senses and imagination, give us entertainment and can relieve stress. But the point here is that, disadvantages of using gadgets outweighs the advantages. Therefore, we can live without it.
On the other hand, we need helpful devices to improve our standard of living. We need them to make our lives better. With the use of these, we can connect people around the globe, fast access to information (e.g television, radio), and even helping us to speed up work (e.g laptop, computer). Today, we cannot deny the fact that we really need helpful devices rather than gadgets in order to have a better way of living in this modern technological era.
Jura the Mediator
The time is yet to come where factories will not require anybody in the manufacturing organization to enter any data into information systems.
The time is yet to come where all the necessary information will come from customers at one end and suppliers at the other end.
The time is yet to come where there will also be no need to type in any data for payments and collections
The time is yet to come where FACTORIES ACT AS A MEDIATOR.
We are having a great burden when purchasing goods in grocery stores right? Like pushing the cart around the store (again and again :(( sigh..) and carrying those heavy bags after paying..
So to end this kind of burden, in the year 2030, there will be a factory named JuRa (assume that I am the owner of the factory and my factory produces all goods which are available in the grocery stores ) who acts as a link or connection between suppliers and buyers. The factory will establish a website where the buyers could choose what they want and contact the factory for orders through email. After the factory received the mail for orders, they will then inform the suppliers to provide them the service or commodity needed by the buyers. How about the payments? To have a convenient way to pay for purchases, my factory will produce a happy card which can be used by the buyers while purchasing online. If the card balance is getting low, load it with the cash amount you want and enjoy the purchasing power of happy card. J My factory will be the way for having a more convenient way of purchasing goods and services.
Is it Good or Bad?
SIS could really be a big help to the companies who implement this kind of system. But the question is, it is also a good thing to the costumers?
Although SIS gives disadvantages to the weaker companies that cannot afford to build such system, it could be an advantage to the part of the customers. Most of them are eager to acquire new technology to become better informed and to enjoy different experiences brought by the companies using SIS. Driven by the power of technology, it can open big opportunities to the costumers. It can fulfill their high expectations towards the product. In short companies using SIS are making our lives better and easier.
But the problem is only few of the customers can avail these advantages. Goods and services made through the use of SIS could be costly which give disadvantage to the customers who don’t have enough money to spend. Tsk!
I Still Prefer…
The age of Web based commerce has arrived! And another thanks to Information Technology for making this possible. :)))))
However, there’s still a big difference between web based commerce and traditional commerce. In terms of costs, Web based commerce is cheaper than traditional commerce. Upon buying a product through traditional ways, you also contribute for the payment of commercial space rent, the transportation of a product from the factory to the brand, from brand to the retailers, and from the retailers to the consumers. See? That’s how traditional commerce works. On the other hand, web based commerce gives opportunity for those who don’t have enough startup capital to rent a retail space.
Unlike traditional commerce wherein costumers can only visit a few traditional shopping malls in a day, with online shopping, you can do your business 24/7 where ever you want!
Hmmmm…? It seems that web-based commerce is better than traditional commerce. But to be honest I still prefer traditional than online shopping. I love doing business with a “face to face interaction”. I am fond of asking questions about the product to make sure that it will satisfy my needs and wants. Most of all, what do I like most in traditional shopping is that I feel secured all the time. “SAFETY FIRST Right?” Hahaha
Does IT Matter?
Information technology is the study and use of systems for storing, retrieving, and sending information. This can include software, hardware, applications, etc. Information Technology plays an important role in this modern age. With the use of IT, communication has become cheaper and faster. I can communicate my distant relatives and friends through email, texting and even talking to them using mobile phones. Since I am still a student, Information technology has also made it quicker and easier to send or receive money. Hurray! I don’t have to wait 2-3 days before I receive it. In terms of educational benefits, IT is indeed a big help! Studying becomes more efficient as information and learning materials could be accessed on the internet and local networks. I can easily check and submit assignments online. I am also updated with the different events happening around the world. All of these are impossible without IT! So thanks to Information Technology for making my life better!
