New Moon in Capricorn ~ January 18, 2026

The Capricorn New Moon perfects on January 18, 2026 at 2:52 p.m. Eastern US time, just one day after Venus enters Aquarius. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “(CAPRICORN 29°): A WOMAN READING TEA LEAVES.” Dane Rudhyar adds a “KEYNOTE: The ability to see the Signature of hidden meaning in every occurrence drawing one’s attention. … This is essentially what is meant by true CLAIRVOYANCE, the capacity to see in everything the Signature of deeper realities.”

Venus offers a chance to massage that which we read in the tea leaves–helping things to unfold in more beautiful ways than they might have without forewarning. We see in this Capricorn New Moon the solid advantage of integrating intuition, dreams, and synchronicities into mundane reality. Sometimes true premonitions and sudden downloads arrive as a way of buffering energies rather than preventing certain events. Learning to work with subtle energies can give strength, determination, and guidance during challenging times. We can also recognize opportunities that denial or distraction might obscure.

Capricorn New Moon, January 18, 2026, 2:52 p.m., Washington, D.C.

In addition to Venus in early Aquarius, we’ve got Mars and Mercury at 26° Capricorn, adding drive, communication, and understanding to this sober reset. Capricorn is the most practical sign of the zodiac, and with Mars and Mercury working together, some of those realizations (Mercury) will require action (Mars). Capricorn takes a hard line on decisions. While other signs might waffle, Capricorn knows that time is of the essence. New information (Mercury) triggers a response (Mars.) This Capricorn New Moon trines Uranus at 27° Taurus, suggesting liberation as a reward for such hard work.

So many things harmonize to open a way forward! The New Moon also sextiles Saturn and Neptune in late Pisces and Black Moon Lilith at 26° Scorpio. These alignments have implications for handling fallout from the Epstein files and controversial border regulation and enforcement. Saturn rules Capricorn and demands order and accountability, while Neptune longs for unconditional compassion. Questions arise around how we define victims and oppressors, along with what constitutes a violation. Saturn can also bring an end to Neptune’s confusion, delusion, and deception.

At the time of the New Moon, this tangled mess of issues encounters potential resolution–an untangling and revealing on both individual and global levels. Capricorn wants black or white clarity, but Venus and Neptune remind us to look for and cultivate beauty. Not everything requires ruthless judgment, but this New Moon marks a time of difficult decisions regarding boundaries. The chart for Washington, D.C. looks similar to natal and transit charts for near-death experiences, so we might find extra intensity and transformation in Washington. If something major happens, embrace opportunities for spiritual expansion and enhanced perspective. These sorts of challenges include the option to transcend old patterns and outdated realities.

Pay attention to any health issues that arise regarding skin, teeth, bones, feet, and knees. Immune system regulation could also require extra care around this time, since the immune system echoes tensions around borders and who or what poses a threat.

You may long for structure amidst chaos, but be careful about giving away too much personal power. This is a “grow up” New Moon that rewards taking personal responsibility, including accountability. Appropriate boundaries can help the body and organizations function in an efficient and healthy way. Compassion is good, but don’t let people guilt you into toxic empathy. Capricorn energies support empaths exerting the right to say no. This is doubly true if your intuition’s been screaming at you to change, but you haven’t had the courage or discipline to insist on whatever you know needs to occur.

The New Moon loosely squares Wounded Healer Chiron in Aries, which means some of this might hurt. When assessing action, look at the bigger picture of painful effects. Will temporary pain in the present end a lifetime of abuse and gaslighting? If so, then proceed accordingly. When things get way off balance, sometimes a course correction feels harsh or like an overreaction. Before crawling back into a Cancer shell, take an honest look at long term patterns and consequences. If you feel squashed, injured, or put upon, then maybe, just maybe this New Moon in Capricorn will encourage greater self-respect. Embodying and enacting healthy patterns means finding structures that support you moving forward, not just following tradition for tradition’s sake.

Overall, Capricorn feels somber, sober, and realistic. You can rail against that stellium of influence, or you can use it to level up with dignity. If things feel restrictive or slow, consider how these delays might help you more thoroughly manifest your dreams. No one wants to hear they have a shaky foundation, but better to find out now than when you’ve invested so much time, energy, and money into something that cannot hold its own weight. Fortify the cracks so you can advance in ways beyond your current reach. If you don’t know how to read the proverbial tea leaves yourself, this is an excellent time for an intuitive coaching, tarot or astrological reading, because “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”

To borrow a saying from the Navy Seals and F1: “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.”

Questions to ponder at the Capricorn New Moon:

What does intuition tell me that I want to ignore?

How can I better accomplish my goals and life purpose?

Where do I need stronger boundaries and why?

Who or what gets under my skin?

Which perceived weaknesses might actually be strengths?

Where do I waste time, money, and energy, and how can I reclaim them?

Happy Cappy New Moon!

Fabric Square, 2019, White Lions, and Chariot Dream

This dream has personal meaning, but it also feels like a collective dream, so I’ll share it here.

1/8/2026
“Fabric Square 2019, White Lions, and Chariot”

I dreamed we were in our front living room, and I noticed a large white square of fabric hung on the front wall. It was maybe six or seven feet across each side of the square, and the fabric looked like a white sheet that had been written on. I couldn’t read all the words, but in the bottom right corner it very clearly said “2019” in brown ink.

It surprised me to see this square, even though we had another one on the wall with a “2004” date in the bottom right corner. I asked David where he found this, and he had taken the 2019 fabric from a box of my stuff. He seemed quite pleased to see it hanging on the wall.

Then I was in some other room, not our Kalamazoo house, but in the dream it was a room in our house, kind of like a back sun room or laundry room area. I was squatted on the floor, back against a wall, with a closed wooden door leading outside to my right. I wondered how my sister was doing and was just about to text her when a video call came through on my phone. Thinking it was her, I picked up, but it was ___. She told me something about her leaving soon.

Then I was outside, and it seems I remote viewed or drone viewed this woman on some kind of chariot going down the highway. The chariot type vehicle was pulled by two white lions. They weren’t snow white, but kind of a very pale yellow, including their small manes. They didn’t look like normal lions, but maybe something from Narnia or ancient times. These lions ran exceptionally fast on both sides of the woman, not quite ahead of her, but they pulled the chariot along the highway.

I thought other cars would need to go around them, but the lions kept up with traffic, even gaining on some cars ahead of them. I could see the lion on the right side turn its face in a little and close its eyes as it ran. The wind was intense because they were going so fast. The woman stood on the chariot and wore a long, pale green dress—satin or silk. She looked like the Empress in the online Lotus Tarot deck.

I awoke thinking “Chariot. Things are moving fast now.”

END of dream journal.

___

Upon researching “white lions,” I found that the lions in my dream looked like regular white lions, which are not albino but simply have less pigment. It may have been a male and female lion pulling the chariot. Here’s a photo from this article:

Looking up the spiritual meaning of white lions, I found this paragraph in a symbolism guide:

“The symbolism of white lions extends to healing, serving as beacons of restoration for individuals and the world at large. Their presence holds the promise of rejuvenation, igniting the spark of motivation within individuals to embark on journeys of personal and collective healing. Regarded as divine messengers, white lions are believed to directly convey the messages of the divine. They stand as symbols of the original Source or Creator’s consciousness, forging a connection between the earthly realm and higher planes of existence.”

I will also add that the recent events in Minneapolis have played out like dreams I had in 2020 and 2021. The US natal Uranus gets a workout this year, especially early 2026, and we’re already seeing those results.

Wow, this sure played out as noted …

Happy New Year!

2026 promises to be a VERY different year than we’ve experienced before. Here’s to abundant growth, beauty, and wisdom as we navigate all the new energies.

Things bloom at just the right time.

Lots of owls, including the painting I finished in January 2010 and last year’s painted wood slice created by Faery Sis Tania Marie:

The plants enjoy extra brightness from snow, even when the sun hides its face.

Full Moon in Cancer ~ January 3, 2026

On January 3, 2026, we’ve got a Full Moon in Cancer. This happens at 5:03 a.m. Eastern U.S. time, and the tender energies of this Full Moon get amplified as Chiron (the wounded healer) stations direct the day before. Old family dynamics and an extra need for self care could arise at this time, so build in some nurturing and honor the sense of ebb or flow.

Ruled by the Moon, the sign of Cancer highlights the importance of mothers, mothering, good food, the sacred space inside our home, protection of children, emotions, and questions of empathy: How much is too much? Where can we soften ourselves, and when should we retreat into a protective shell?

Like the tides, Cancer energies change throughout the month. Intuition runs high, but its revelations will impact your feelings. Just pay attention and adjust accordingly. Later that day, the transiting Moon will conjunct Jupiter in Cancer, magnifying all these energies–almost like having two Full Moons in one day!

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon point is “(CANCER 14°): A VERY OLD MAN FACING A VAST DARK SPACE TO THE NORTHEAST.” Dane Rudhyar adds a “KEYNOTE: Fulfillment in transcending and changeless wisdom. … We see in the symbol a way beyond appearances and toward PERMANENCE IN TRUTH.” In other words, the changeable energies of Cancer paradoxically reveal that which remains true, regardless of shifting sands and crashing emotional waves. Beneath any turbulence, the water runs clear.

Cancer Full Moon, January 3, 2026, 5:03 a.m., Washington, D.C.

Opposite the Full Moon sits a stellium in Capricorn, with Venus, Sun, and Mars all tightly conjunct in the 12-14° range. This provokes passion and the ability to get things done, but it also reminds us to bring a touch of grace to relationships, especially if challenges or confrontations occur in early January.

Mercury enters Capricorn on New Year’s Day, and this slower, more calculated expression should assist. Mercury in Sagittarius needs to blast truth with a capital T, whereas Mercury in Capricorn can hold back a bit–calculating the correct time to speak instead of pushing ahead no matter what. Sober and practical, all these Capricorn energies encourage us to honor some traditions in order to create a solid foundation for the future. The trick will be to figure out which ones to honor, and which ones need to go.

The North Node in Pisces trines (supports) this Full Moon in Cancer, so we can expect synchronicities, dreams, and what I call “the open door/closed door” policy to take effect. Safe passage or brick walls are no accident. With the North Node involved, whatever happens takes on an element of destiny, a sense of “Ohhhh, that needed to occur.”

It’s a wonderful time for cleansing. Use the Water element to wash away anything that no longer serves.

This Full Moon occurs in the same degree as the US natal Sun, putting a spotlight on the United States, and highlighting the nation’s core identity and life force energy. The chart for Washington, D.C. puts the Descendant right on the US natal Uranus at 8° Gemini, suggesting a big, surprising, and potentially liberating shift regarding relationships, allies, and known enemies. Time will tell how that unfolds. Uranus can bring chaos, but also opportunities. The Moon itself lights up the 8th house of the D.C. chart, once again favoring transformation, death and rebirth. (This recurring theme has continued long past Scorpio season.)

Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius loosely trine Chiron in Aries suggests healing opportunities around topics of sexual abuse and injuries to personal sovereignty. With transiting Saturn conjunct Neptune at the IC (foundation of the chart/4th house cusp), in some ways things seem more nebulous and confusing than ever before. Basement floods threaten the very foundations of reality. Will we drown in Neptune’s 29° Pisces quicksand, or will we level up spirituality and compassion?

We can’t change the energies themselves, but we do have agency: we can reject, react, respond, or embrace the energies. Everything can offer blessings when we orient ourselves to recognize, offer, and receive them.

Questions to ponder at the Cancer Full Moon:

How do you nurture yourself and others?

What actions do you need to take as a mother or with regard to your own mother?

Which relationships or things fill your cup, and which ones drain your energy?

How do your emotions affect your ability to get things done?

Happy Full Moon in Cancer!

New Moon in Sagittarius ~ December 19-20, 2025

The powerful astro weather of December 2025 continues with a New Moon in Sagittarius on December 19 at 8:43 p.m. Eastern US time. For much of the world, this happens on the 20th, but we’ll feel reverberations long after the fact. At the same time, 3IAtlas–the bizarre and controversial intruder in our solar system–makes its closest approach to Earth. Since we don’t know what it is, we really can’t predict what it means, but I suspect this rogue element explains a lot of the inner chaos, fatigue, and reactivity people keep reporting. Big solar activity, geomagnetic storms, and Schumann Resonance spikes add even more energy to the mix.

Here’s what we do know:

The New Moon occurs at 28°24′ Sagittarius, not quite in the anaretic (crisis) degree, but squaring Neptune at 29° Pisces. This means Neptune’s in the last degree of the entire zodiac, dredging up the most negative, crisis qualities of Pisces as we finish a 165-year cycle. Sagittarius demands truth with a capital T, so we could see the veil pulled back on lies, deception, fraud, obfuscation, and gaslighting. Saturn brings extra realism from 25° Pisces, meaning any heroes and ideals falling from pedestals will crash hard.

In the chart for Washington, D.C., Neptune, Saturn, and the North Node are all in the 8th house, suggesting radical transformation, death and rebirth. This is no ordinary New Moon! It marks the end of an era, a kind of last hurrah before the massive shifts of 2026.

Sagittarius New Moon, December 19, 2025, 8:43 p.m., Washington, D.C.

Rounding up, the Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “(SAGITTARIUS 29°): A FAT BOY MOWING THE LAWN OF HIS HOUSE ON AN ELEGANT SUBURBAN STREET.” Dane Rudhyar adds a “KEYNOTE: The need to attend to everyday tasks which both ensure social worth or respectability, and benefit one’s constitution.” In other words, despite the crazy intense energies, we still need to show up for the mundane tasks of daily life. Don’t drown in a Neptune spin cycle!

In the chart above, that green line between the Sun-Moon at 28° Sagittarius and Uranus at 28° Taurus means this New Moon quincunxes (150 degrees) the great revolutionary and liberator. Uranus brings an element of surprise, adding to the unpredictable energies of December 19-20. Tensions peak around truth, security, identity, stability, chaos, and demands to break free. Venus close to the New Moon point should mitigate some of this volatility. She brings a touch of grace, but also–perhaps–a change in values.

Whatever happens, with Mercury in Sagittarius, we’ll hear about it! The Messenger in Sagittarius seeks to understand the big picture and overarching philosophy. Mercury in Sag will speak the truth about revolutions, including the American Revolution and any potential revolutions in the mix (New Moon quincunx Uranus). This is a big New Moon for the United States, because the transiting nodal axis continues squaring the US natal Ascendant-Descendant axis. In layman’s terms: the US is undergoing a destiny level course correction (square nodal axis) connected with past, present, and future known enemies (Descendant/7th house), relationships, and the impression others have regarding the US (Ascendant).

If you have anything around 9-13° or 27-29° of Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), or on the Taurus/Gemini cusp, you’ll feel this more than most people. How it plays out will depend on what gets pinged in your natal chart, but the energies around this New Moon are so over the top (very Sagittarius!) that everyone will notice something. You can’t be alive on planet Earth right now and remain unchanged.

In addition to Venus mitigating some of the energies, we’ve got some additional goddess influence around this New Moon. The Galactic Center–cosmic birth canal–is at 27° Sagittarius right now, and Varda chimes in at 29° Sagittarius. Varda refers to a Trans-Neptunian Object named after J.R.R. Tolkien’s Queen of the Stars. According to Astral Mystic:

“Her myth represents the feminine principle of illumination — not passive, but active creation through divine imagination.

“Across cultures, her energy echoes through the ancient goddesses of light and order — Nut, weaving the sky canopy over Egypt; Sophia, the divine Wisdom who births cosmos from consciousness; Ushas, the Vedic dawn goddess, heralding spiritual awakening; and the Taoist Queen Mother of the West, who governs the elixir of immortality and celestial rhythm.

“Varda is the celestial seamstress who brings coherence to chaos. Her mythic medicine is beauty as salvation — teaching that every pattern of existence, when viewed from the vantage of higher consciousness, reveals divine artistry at play.”

In other words, Varda evokes feminine grace and magic, reordering this New Moon’s chaotic energies while the Galactic Center births them into something divinely harmonious and beautiful. Here’s hoping! With the ruler of Sagittarius–Jupiter–exalted in Cancer, even more of that Divine Mother, Galactic Center, Varda energy comes through.

Things to ponder at the Sagittarius New Moon:

What big Truth can you now recognize and honor?

What in your life needs liberation and release?

Which cycles have already run their course?

What bold, new adventure calls your spirit?

What mundane tasks can you wrap up by year’s end?

Progressed Moon in Astrology ~ The Missing Key to Feeling Safe, Secure, and Satisfied (Video)

I’ve been meaning to make this video for two years! It’s a long one–one hour and 28 minutes–but you can also just watch the part related to your current progressed Moon. (If you’re receiving this by email, you’ll need to click through to watch the video.)

The progressed Moon is a much overlooked part of astrology. It influences your evolving emotions, health, and relationships. The progressed Moon is especially helpful in addressing physical and emotional burnout. It takes about 27 years for the progressed Moon to move through all the signs, and if you watch this video straight through, you’ll witness a clear journey. If you just want to see where your progressed Moon is now, you can forward to that part of the video.

Bookmark this one, because it will help you navigate big changes in life and help you understand your introvert and extrovert cycles in life.

You can also track other people’s progressed Moon if you know their birth time, date, and place. This can help with raising children, navigating friendships, and family dynamics. Sometimes the progressed Moon explains overnight personality changes.

The Return of the King ~ Door Number 5: King of Cups aka Chiron

This 2010 portal door feels “up” again right now. I already reblogged it years ago, so I’ll just leave a link here. The quote at the bottom of the door came through after this morning’s dream: “The sky, the sky beyond the door is blue.” ~Ryan Stiles

Oddly–or just normal synchronicity overlay–I’ve been paused while working on a chapter involving Jupiter conjunct Chiron, which is like The Astrology of NDEs equivalent of this door. Jupiter the King as the co-ruler of Pisces (King of Cups), and Chiron the centaur and great healer and teacher of medicine.

The back of the King of Cups Door features this poem by Hafiz:

Dropping Keys

The small man
Builds cages
For everyone
He
Knows
While the sage,
Who has to duck his head
When the moon is low,
Keeps dropping keys all night long
For the
Beautiful
Rowdy
Prisoners.

–Hafiz

I had already chosen to use this poem on this door, so it was quite a fun synchronicity that this door actually contained a key!

I know many people feel paused, blocked, or dramatically slowed down right now. It’s the pea soup of Neptune and Saturn in late Pisces being squared by Mars moving through late Sagittarius, followed by a powerful New Moon on December 19. Other phrases that came through in hypnagogic state:

“Hurry up and wait.”

“Embrace the suck.”

“The sky, the sky beyond the door is blue.”

The first two are military terms. The combination of these statements seems relevant to the collective right now. Despite appearances, there’s been lots of action behind the scenes. When you get nudged to act, follow that nudge. If you do what you needed to do and then hit a roadblock, that’s probably Saturn in Pisces, squared by Mars in Sagittarius. (I initially mistyped Saturn Retrograde in Pisces, but Saturn–Father Time–stationed Direct on November 27. It’s still square Mars and still slogging in Pisces.) Neptune stations Direct today in the final degree of Pisces–and Neptune’s the other co-ruler of Pisces. This crisis degree–29°–is not just the last degree of Pisces. It’s the final degree of the entire zodiac!

Endings are “up” right now, as we make our way through this sometimes bumpy, confusing, and bizarre transition into the vastly new energies of 2026. “The only way out is through.”

My advice? Look for positives and beauty, which are available for those with receptors and a willingness to embrace it all. Be gentle with yourself and others. If necessary, remove yourself from the equation–at least for a little while. So many people keep expressing concern about not moving forward right now. In most cases, it’s just not time yet. No amount of pushing or “should-ing” will change the astro weather. This might be the calm before the storm, or maybe it’s just time for a nap because soon enough you won’t be able to hit “snooze” anymore.

In any case, if you feel stuck, confused, or covered in molasses, you’re not alone! This is the most common theme I keep hearing, and I’m hearing it from some of the most tapped in people I know. It’s not you. It’s the energies. Learn to embrace uncertainty. Practice trusting in a higher order, a higher power. Another thing that came through this morning’s dream: timing and order are related. The order of events matters, but there’s also another kind of order–like following orders. It’s no accident that very concept is being debated in the collective right now, but consider how it applies to your own life.

The most important orders from on high appear to deal with the order of events–aka timing. We’re in the final phase of an incredibly long journey, not just our own lives but for humanity at large. Aristotle’s definition of a good ending seems relevant here: “surprising but inevitable.” We have influence in some areas, but probably not in terms of timing, at least not right now.
