Whilst exploring the content of EDFD459 I have been doing a lot of research into the Syrian refugee crisis, the Calais Jungle, the Za’atari Refugee Camp and the many initiatives the Teachers Without Borders Organisation is involved in, including; peace education in the republic of congo, girls education and child friendly spaces. Needless to say, the amount of information on these few topics is overwhelming and the statistics that come out of these troubled areas are disheartening at the very least.
That being said, it has been difficult to focus my research on one topic as these crises all require such a high level and of work and involvement to begin to improve the wellbeing of the people who are affected. However, as the famous quote goes,
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” – Edmund Burke
For this reason, I have chosen to do something and choose Girls Education in the Za’atari Refugee Camp to be the focus of my Future Learning Space.
