I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break and new years. On our end it was a fairly quiet one, MOTH’s family are all grown up with other families to visit on Christmas day. I’ve been game developing a new prototype for fun with the help of an AI (sometimes it didn’t have the best ideas, but I didn’t get stuck at least) and hence my cross stitch has taken a back seat. I’ve mostly been focusing on my shiny stocking, I will finish the owls I promise, they just haven’t been « calling » to me as much. // J’espère que vous avez passé de bonnes fêtes, ici c’était plutôt calme puisque la belle famille est toute grandie avec des beaux parents a visiter plutôt que leurs grands parents (mes beaux parents). J’ai profité du calme pour bidouiller un nouveau prototype de jeu avec l’aide d’une IA (parfois ça me suggère des débilités mais dans l’ensemble ça me décoince) et je m’amusait bien, au dépend de mon PDX qui n’a pas bcp avancé. La chaussette pour mon mari me faisait plus envie mais promis je finirais les chouettes un jour.

So I decided to photograph my chart to continue the owls as it seems my main issue with the chart was how small it was and I couldn’t zoom in. I’ve made some good progress on that, and there were three! As well as that, I’ve managed to prepare all Xmas gifts already and now just have two more weeks of work before a well deserved break. I plan on finishing the owls before focusing on other projects however I am entering another « gamedev » phase and have been trying to carve out some evenings for that too. The next update will be in 6 weeks so stay tuned and I hope to have a lot more to show you then! Happy holidays everyone// J’ai décidé de photographier le modèle des hiboux ce qui m’a vachement aidé parce que imprimé très petit je peux zoomer. J’ai bien avancé et il y a maintenant 3 petits hiboux cachés dans la branche. A côté de ça j’ai déjà fini mes achats de Noël ce qui veut dire que je n’ai plus qu’à survivre deux semaines de travail avant un repos bien mérité. J’ai prévu de finir ces hiboux avant de me concentrer sur un autre projet cependant je suis d’humeur à développer des jeux en ce moment… donc j’essaie de me trouver du temps pour ça aussi. La prochaine mise a jour sera dans 6 semaines donc je vous souhaite tous à l’avance un joyeux Noël et de bonnes vacances !

Last time I talked about planning the next one… Well make that two! More than 10 years ago I started making stockings for family members (still a bunch to go btw) but I never made one for myself and my hubby. I did find lovely patterns from a Ukrainian designer and saved them for a time where I could be bothered thread sorting and drafting a shopping list…as this cost me a pretty penny!! The day of the SAL update was spent preparing my thread cards and once I received the rest of the supplies, I got cracking! And boy did I miss evenweave let me tell you. I did a little bit on the owls too but I forgot how much I’ve been struggling with reading this ones pattern on small Aida, and feel like I’ve been going a snail pace. I might make you guys guess what’s pictured in the stocking before I reveal the design// La dernière fois je parlais de préparer mon prochain projet, et ben ça sera plutôt deux! Il y a plus de 10 ans j’ai commencé à faire des chaussettes de Noël pour ma famille (encore plein à faire) mais j’en ai même pas encore fait pour moi même et mon homme. J’avais trouvé deux super modèles de la même designer Ukrainienne que j’ai choisi pour nous deux mais vu qu’il fallait trier mes fils et commander ce qu’il me manque j’ai repoussé ça un moment… Et c’était pas donné dit donc! Le dimanche de la dernière MAJ j’ai donc bossé et trouvé une partie des couleurs , commandé le reste et j’ai tout de suite commencé une des chaussettes et… Qu’est ce que l’étamine me manquait ! J’ai un peu avancé les hiboux quand même mais je galère vraiment à lire le modèle et passe mon temps à défaire, donc j’avance à vitesse d’escargot.

Je vous laisserai deviner ce qui apparaît doucement sur la chaussette avant de vous dévoiler le modèle !

I’ve powered through to get a happy dance this time. I’m feeling very eager to start a new project I just haven’t figured out what yet! I’m spoilt for choices and will need the weekend to prepare whatever I’ve decided to work on next. I still have other WIPs to continue however so I may only be planning for now…// J’ai décidé de me pousser et finir cette ballerine pour cette MAJ. Pas encore décidé lequel, mais hâte de commencer un nouveau projet ! Ce weekend je devrais pouvoir me pencher sur lequel préparer, mais j’ai d’autres en cours à ne pas délaisser pour autant…

Last few weeks I’ve been busy. My low mood has been due recent layoffs of close colleagues, as well as being overworked. Some positives however, with a short trip to Malta, first holiday in a long while. It was a nice weekend, except for a massive flood one day. I’ve also felt like picking up the ballerina as I wanted to start a new project and felt this was my most avvanced UFO… still a fair left to do though. // Humeur tjrs dans les chaussettes après licenciements économiques de mes collègues…. Pis surchargés de travail pour ceux qui restent. Une note positive cependant, petit weekend à Malte, premières vacances depuis un moment. C’était sympa, hormis averses et inondations un des jours. J’ai aussi décidé de reprendre la ballerine. J’aimerais finir un en cours pour commencer un nouveau projet,mais il reste pas mal a faire encore.

Another small update as I’m 3.5 weeks post-op. The surgery scars are slowly healing (the hand is the hardest) which leaves me (still) unable to stitch or cook properly, I did do a little to « use my hand as normal » as advised by doctor. Pain/mobility/strength wise it’s going to take some time… Boy would I welcome some much needed time to relax and recover… ( A year or two would do…. Haha) Let’s just say this year has been by far the worst and with still a few more months left that I already know will bring more stress and heartbreak. Bring forth 2026 people, because I am cooked!!!// Une autre petite mise à jour puisque seulement 3.5 semaines post-opératoire. Mes cicatrices sont en en voie de guérison mais la main/bras faudra quelques mois avant le verdict. Je ne peux tjrs pas ni broder correctement, ni aider mon mari avec les tâches ménagères et j’ai fait un tout petit peu pour « utiliser ma main comme d’habitude » sous instruction du médecin… mais inutile de dire que ce n’est pas mon année et c’est pas près d’en finir… Je sais déjà que les mois suivants m’attendent avec bcp de déception et de stress et je prendrai bien une pause (de 1-2 ans si je pouvais haha….) Vivement 2026 parce que j’en peux plus!!

A small update this week and bound to be none next time as I’ve had surgery on my right arm. In Oct last year I mentioned having carpal tunnel but as it turns out it wasn’t that at first. I was experiencing numbness, tingling and loss of strength that kept coming and going, including losing muscle mass. After a bunch of tests that showed trapped nerves in my upper arm, the doctors recommended I have the nerves released in the elbow and wrist. While there is some permanent damage, the hopes are my arm improves a little, and more importantly that I don’t gradually lose use of it in future. It’ll be a while before we know how well I’ve healed and if a complete success, and I doubt I’ll finish this project for the initial deadline of end of Oct, but I’ll try resuming slowly when I can and target Christmas instead!// Petite avancée cette fois-ci et sûrement que je n’aurai rien à montrer la prochaine fois. Après presque 1 an à souffrir de problèmes de nerfs, (engourdie, pas de force…) j’ai eu une opération pour décompresser les nerfs en 2 au poignet et coude dans mon bras droit. L’idée étant que ça se rétablisse un peu mais principalement pour éviter que ça se dégrade jusqu’à en perdre l’usage complet. Il est trop tôt pour dire si la guérison sera un succès mais je compte reprendre doucement la broderie quand/si je pourrais. Je ne finirai pas pour fin Oct comme espéré mais viserai Noël à la place.

We’ve managed to get past the halfway point, with a bit of backstitch to boot, after a few episodes of « Bridgerton », thought I would give it a go. It’s a little too flowery for my taste but as I easily blast through shows I needed to try something new. Are there any shows you enjoy while doing your needlework? // J’en suis maintenant à plus de la moitié avec du point arrière en somme. J’avançais petit à petit en découvrant « Bridgerton » qui est correct même si un peu trop à l’eau de rose à mon goût. Et vous… Y-a-t-il des séries que vous devorez en brodant ?

Needless to say it’s been warm and still haven’t quite worked up my stitching mojo back. I am trying to to a little every now and then and backstitch aside have completed half the design. I hope you are all keeping well and fresh or perhaps enjoying a nice holiday!// Inutile de préciser qu’il fait chaud en ce moment et je n’ai pas encore trop eu l’envie de bcp broder. J’avance un petit peu et j’ai maintenant fait la moitié du modèle. J’espère que vous allez bien et à l’abri de la chaleur ou au moins en vacances qque part de sympa!

Ballerina hasn’t been taken out and I’ve had a short stay at my mom’s which meant not so much stitching. Mostly been playing games lately with the adaptation of Dune as a survival/crafting game. I’m still early days in the game but enjoying it.// Ballerine pas encore sorti du tiroir mais avancé les petits hiboux. Je suis allée rendre visite à ma mère et donc peut de broderie a l’agenda. J’ai cependant commencé a jouer à Dune, jeu sympathique de survie.
