Adding a body in Second Life can be a big investment since bodies are among the more expensive items. Do you need a body to enjoy the game? No, you can get by without one. But if you decide to get one, here’s a quick guide to making it compatible with BOM (Bakes on Mesh).
In this guide, I’ll use the Legacy body for females, though many other bodies work similarly. For beginners, I recommend the Legacy or Reborn bodies as they’re user-friendly and have a wide range of clothing options available.
Setup (Only Needs to Be Done Once)
While the initial setup can be a bit tedious, following these steps should help make the process smoother.
1. Unpack and Wear the Body
After you purchase your body, unpack it, and add the following items to your avatar:
[BODY] Legacy (f) (1.6)
[FEET] Legacy (f) (Classic Fit) (1.6)
[HANDS] Legacy (f) (1.6)
[EDIT] HUD (1.3)
2. Open the HUD and Select the Middle Option
Activate the HUD and click the middle option. Each time you open this option, you may need to type /style help in the local chat to activate it.
Tip: If you see a prompt to enable media, make sure it’s enabled. If it doesn’t work, try detaching and re-adding the HUD, or simply clicking on it again.
3. Apply BOM
Once the HUD is active, go to the last option in the top menu (it’s small and may be easy to miss). Click it, and you’ll see a new screen.
On this screen, look for and click on the small print that says “Apply BOM”.
And that’s it! Once you’ve completed these steps, your body will be BOM-ready, meaning you can wear any clothing or skin that supports BOM.

I have had this happen a few times while trying to purchase a steam game and for some reason the payment won’t go thru. This is how to fix it.
What the error will look like: Your transaction cannot be completed because you have another pending transaction on your account.
Go to account details at the top of the right hand corner
2. Then click on purchase history
3. Find the transaction that is pending and double click on that.
4. On the same page and usually in small print, it will say “Cancel Pending Transaction” Click on that and it will give you confirmation that it’s cancelled.

If you are having issues with the Halloween Costumes / Halloween baskets. You can’t seem to access it and don’t know why. You have to equip the costume on your hotbar. Then you have to consume the costume. It lasts 30 minutes and therefore, you can open the Halloween Gift baskets.
