Knit project complete!

I have been working on this little top for Ali that I saw on the Lion Brand website a while ago. I finally finished it and got her in it today and she seemed to love it! Man, I have to admit that I felt seriously proud of this easy little project once I saw it on her. It is just PERFECT. Ok, there are a couple goofs here and there, but it looks perfect to me. :)

There is just something about a handmade item....

Piggy Tales - March Projects

Ok, you will notice a bunch of posts coming from me today. I am trying to play a bit of catch-up on my blog today.

So, here are my projects from Piggy Tales (I am a designer for them) from March.

Surprise Present

I am part of a swap group where you find 3 people to send random homemade goodies to throughout the year. The fabulous Jenn Olsen (scrapbooker extraordinaire) has me as one of her 3 people. (Yep... lucky me!)

Ok, imagine opening a box to find THIS beautiful table runner!

Who knew the girl could sew like a rockstar???
Love it, Jenn. Thanks a million. :)

Felting

I had never heard of "felting" until a book caught my eye at A.C. Moore a few months ago. It is called "Warm Fuzzies" by Betz White, and it has all kinds of projects that can be made from old wool sweaters that have been purposely felted by washing them in the washing machine.
So this is the part where I admit to you I have roughly 498 wool sweaters that I just bought from Goodwill. I PROMISE I will use them all eventually to make all kinds of warm, fuzzy gifts. Here is what I have tackled so far...
First, Betz's signature cupcake pincushion. Really easy and SO cute. Mine is being put to use already.

A pomander that I made for Valentines Day. I have not had the heart to take it down yet, so it is still hanging in the entrance to the dining room.

I am working on a jumper for Ali, but it has me a little scared. Maybe this weekend I will tackle it. ;)

Big box o' adhesives

Have you ever dreamed of receiving a bog 'ol box of adhesives in the mail, free of charge? I have, and look what came to me the other day...

We are talking CASES of sticky goodness here. Glue sticks, tape rollers, foam squares. You name it, and it is in there. I'm not sure non-scrapbookers would get so gaga over such a package, but it was like Christmas to me. :) Thanks, 3M. I am looking forward to designing for you.

Mom, I need a costume for tomorrow...

is what Eric said to me approximately an hour before his bedtime. The much anticipated book fair begins tomorrow at school, and apparently, the kids may/might/must? dress up as a favorite character.

Eric's first choice was to wear his Batman costume, saying, "I'm pretty sure there are Batman books." Mean momma denied his request. That costume is too skimpy for OCTOBER, let along February. Besides, it is still waiting to be hand-washed (yes, from Halloween).

Next, he decided he wanted to be Jerry, of Tom and Jerry fame. That fell apart when he did not have a brown shirt. He DID, however, have a grey shirt and pants, so I convinced him Tom would do nicely.

Ok, I know Tom is not exactly a book character, but "I'm pretty sure there are Tom and Jerry books."

Luckily, I had my sewing machine out today (yes, I WILL learn to sew), so I whipped up the following tail and ears (in approximately 30 minutes - not bad!).

I am feeling pretty much like super mom. Now let's see if he even wears it. :)

Ok, I'm back.

I took a big long hiatus from posting on this blog. I'm afraid that between updating my "family blog", playing on facebook, and trying to spend a little time OFF the computer, my own personal blog got the short end of the stick.

But I have fun news to bring me out of hiding!

I was asked a couple days ago to join the team at Piggy Tales and 3M as a designer. I am thrilled to be working with their fun, vibrant papers and equally thrilled to have the following ladies as teammates:

Charity Hassel
Elizabeth Carney
Kim Collee
Melanie Douthit
Heidi Sonboul
Ruth Clarke
Linda Harrison
Paula Gilarde
Mou Saha

Jennifer Armentrout
Leah LaMontagne

When I told the kids about my good news, (they are 5 and 3), they cracked UP about the words "Piggy Tales." Silly boys. ;)
