Jesus Christ has many titles: the Good Shepherd, Bread of Life, Prince of Peace, King of Kings and many more. But the title Friend of Sinners tells of His compassion for lost people.
That title was used by religious leaders as a term of contempt. They were too holy to associate with people who were socially excluded. But Jesus’ friendship was a deliberate choice to engage with people whom society rejected.
The thought occurred to me that Jesus accepted people as friends before they even knew Him! The obvious question for each Christ-follower is, do I have any friends that are “sinners?” Unfortunately, most of our friends are fellow Christ-followers.
Lets ask God to send someone across our path that we can befriend and show them Christ is their ultimate friend.
