Lua on mac

I just got a macbook air, can someone help me get lua on it? I have Xcode and I copied and pasted

curl -R -O http://www.lua.org/ftp/lua-5.2.2.tar.gz

tar zxf lua-5.2.2.tar.gz

cd lua-5.2.2

make macosx test

into the terminal and but I don't think I have it.
