Dungeons! The Temple Of The Moon

The Temple of the Moon is one of our new dungeons. You will find the entrance in the wind swept waste-land south east of Umbra. (This is a revamp of the Rock dungeon in Ilsh) The Temple of the Moon is an advanced dungeon, with harder than normal mobs. Inside you will find 2 Red Dragon Soldiers offering quests to brave adventurers to explore what lies beneath. Deep down inside the dark halls you will find all sorts of vile creatures, Like the Giant Scarabis & The Obsidian Elemental! If you are a new Necromancer this is the dungeon for you. You will find a full set of gear with +Necromancy skill bonuses. & a special hooded shroud! But to get this set of gear, you will have to take on the Dark Lord himself, Annatar.

The ToM is also what we like to call a resource dungeon. In this dungeon you will find resource caches. These work just like dungeon treasure chests.. they require lock-picking and remove trap to reveal whats hidden inside! We all know how boring gathering can get at times.. so this offers an alternative when gathering just sounds too exhausting 😀 You will find Sand and Granite caches in ToM, you will also need to grab the Pick-axe off the table, as you will need to break down some walls in order to advance deeper into the dungeons! Just equip the pick and click on the slightly off colored walls. When the walls crumble to the floor, you will be able to pick up some of them to use in crafting stone items! Only the special Impact Pick-axe on the table is strong enough to break through the walls of the dungeon. As a bonus you will also find Obsidian coins that you can use to purchase even more supplies from the supply stone next to the table inside the dungeon!

What other secrets lie deep in the hall of the Temple? You shall have to explore and find out for yourself!

Be weary adventurer! Danger lurks around every corner in the Temple Of The Moon!!

Seasonal Events!

On UO Welcome Home our festivals are based on old religions of the past. The main holidays are based on the oldest of these religions, The Pagan religion. The Pagan Wheel of the Year is a cycle of eight festivals that mark the changing seasons and cycles of nature. The festivals are celebrated every six or seven weeks, dividing the year into eight segments. We only uses these as a base to create our own festivals. We like to try and keep all modern religious practices out of them game, (Example: Christ never visited Sosaria, so Christmas really doesn’t fit.. But, we can use Yule as our Christmas, You wont see Santa Claus either, but instead we will be visited by Grandfather Yule) from all the reading I have done on the net about ancient religions, I think these fit best into the world of UO.

Festivals of the Wheel of the Year

  • Imbolc: Celebrates the coming of spring
  • Ostara: Celebrates the spring equinox
  • Beltane: Celebrates the beginning of summer
  • Litha: Celebrates the summer solstice
  • Lughnasadh: Celebrated in August for the 1st Harvest
  • Mabon: Celebrates the fall equinox and is a time to give thanks for the harvest
  • Samhain: Celebrates the end of the harvest season
  • Yule: Celebrates the winter solstice

Some of these festivals will be combined into one. Minor festivals will be re-imagined. For example, Memorial Day will be Remembrance Day in Sosaria. Ect. We will even celebrate more than just Western Holidays. Examples of these would be the Chinese New Year would be converted into the Zento New Year, once we get to Zento that is. 🙂 You will also see Halloween & Thanksgiving style events during Mabon & Samhain as another example.

Thats all for now, If more information becomes available, you will find it here! Safe Travels Sosarian!

The Necro-Summoner

The Necromancy Skill is the 1st skill on Welcome Home to get a summoning staff!

The Summoner System for the Necromancer allows them to summon powerful un-dead creatures at various skill levels. Starting at 120 Necromancy Skill (Make sure you have this quest in your log when you hit 120 skill!) you can do a quest found in Doom to seek out the pieces of an ancient staff. Without going into too many details, the quest giver has one piece of the staff, then you will need to find these two locations mentioned in the 1st quest. Each of these NPCs will have quest objectives for you to complete before handing over their piece of the staff.

Once you have the other pieces, you will return to the original quest giver and assemble the ancient staff, allowing you summon dark minions to do your bidding! The staff works off the Necromancers Skill Level. (On Welcome Home, items that provide skill bonuses push you over cap) Starting at 120, then continuing on to 130, 140, 160, 180 & finally 200, the Necromancer will be able to summon new minions at each skill level. The minions will get stronger the higher the Necromancers skill gets, and the time that the summon remains is based on your Spirit Speak, and these summons are immune to dispel as well. To compliment this system, a new crafting profession has been created based on the Necromancy Skill as well. The second quest giver you find in Doom will teach you the ways of Rituals.. using body parts you will be able to craft gear to increase your Necromancy, and help you reach that 200 skill level!

Well, thats all that Im going to tell you for now. If a player wants to write a more detailed guide, they may.. but im not going to spoil any of it. Lets just say it has you running all over the world seeking items and killing dragons!

Custom Trainable Pets & Companions

Greetings Adventurer! I am Dungeon Master, and I will be your guide in the Realm of Sosaria! In this guide we will be covering the Tier II trainable pets available, and the companion system. 1st off we will cover the 4 new pets you can train and fight with. 3 of these pets are mounts, they are some of the strongest mounts in the game.

Iorek Byrnison was an armoured bear (also known as panserbjørn), a race of giant anthropomorphic polar bears with human-level intelligence and opposable thumbs. Iorek was originally king of the armoured bears in Svalbard, but became an outcast after he was exiled when he killed another bear in a fight. Iorek now wanders the lands of Malas, forever missing his old home-land.

Lady Amalthea is a beautiful and immortal white unicorn who is the protector of her forest home and was believed to be the last of her kind. This drove her to find the other unicorns, who are rumored to have disappeared until it was later revealed that they were herded to the far ends of the world by an elemental entity known as the Red Bull.

Kryos Aeras is a throw back to the days of old when on occasion casting Summon Energy Vortex would summon a purple Llama, instead of the EV animation! Once tamed this Elemental Pet will turn into a Llama when you click to mount it!

…And last but not least, the winner of “Best Pet In Game” Goes to The Ancient Dragon Ciraxis! (Formally known as Archon). This is the Ultimate Tier II Pet for getting the job done in Ankh. This Legendary Dragon is trained in the art of Chivalry, and boasts a healthy HP pool! But be careful.. he would like more to take a bite of human, than be your friend.. you will have to convince him to stand by your side!

This is the roster of Tier II pets. They can all be found in Malas, and are “Rare” spawns. Meaning when someone tames them, they just dont respawn right away. So it will be a challenge just to find them! Good Luck Adventurer!

COMPANIONS!

Companions are a custom system here on Welcome Home. They are all mounts as of now, they do not require any control slots, nor do they require any skill to tame! They are non-combat pets, so they cant die, They can change color on command, and they are a pack animal! But the most important feature of all companions, is the ability to resurrect you when you die, just double click your companion when you are dead, and they will rez you on the spot! Some Companions are common and can be purchased from the Animal Trainer, Some are rare and hard to find, and some are only available at events and holidays!

To change the color of your companion just say “Change” followed by the color. The following colors are avalible: Red, Black, Ethereal, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Purple, White, Brown, Gray, & Normal. You can do this at anytime. You can also use a Pet Dyes as well.

Oh! and I almost forgot about this little fella.. The Cu Llama! this is just a fun pet I made for a friend. They are just like Cu Sidhe, But in Llama form. These guys can be found in the jungles south west of Trinsic! See if you can get lucky and get a rare colored one!

Well thats all for now.. Travel Safe Adventurer! & I will see you in the Realm Of Sosaria!

Coffee & Ultima Online: New Play Styles!

We have started working on 2 new “Play-styles” at the UO Welcome Home Server! The 1st one we will talk about is the Summoner! The Summoner is a new play-style that requires the necromancy skill. The main tool of the summoner is “The High Summoner’s Staff!” Once you reach 100 Necromancy a quest will be available for you to collect 3 pieces of the Staff and assemble them to create your new weapon! The summoners staff summons new pets at skill levels 90, 100, 110, 120, 140, 160, 180 & 200! The best thing about the summoner’s pets, They are immune to any type of dispelling. You will need a good amount of spirit speak as well, as it is used to gage how long your pet will stay summoned, before needing to re-summon! This system will also include a special crafting system based on the necromancy skill, used to create items that every summoner will need!!

The next new Play-style in the works is The Engineer! Introducing Jarvis Mark II, and The Mechanical Mondain’s Steed! The first two craftable pets that will be used in a new type of play-style, The Engineer! The engineers tools & pets require Tinkering to craft and/or summon. Take down your foes with Guns, Flame Throwers, Wrist Mounted Cannons & more.. Summon Mechanical minions to do your bidding, and craft unique tools, weapons, pets and mounts!

These new systems are still in the works, the Summoner will be the 1st to be released, as it is close to completion, the staff is being tested by players as we speak, and so far its a blast! Once its complete, we will start on the engineer! Posts have been made on discord to discuss these play-styles, and Im currently looking for information from players on items to add to these systems! So hop in and help forge a new system! After all, I do not run this server to make money, I do it cuse I enjoy it.. creating new things in the game Ive loved for decades brings me great joy! When I finally complete a script that Ive been bashing my head on for days, it feels like defeating that big boss in battle!! My reward comes from watching players like you! playing and enjoying the content I create! So come give us a shot.. everyone who has given the server a real try.. has enjoyed every moment of it! Peace Fellow Sosarians, and Safe Travels!

Coffee & Ultima Online

In this issue of The Welcome Home Chronicle, We are going to talk about the Admin side of UO. Alot of server owners do not trust those who the hire to make changes to their server, so most of the time you have zero access to the files… so you have to work with what you have in game. The fun thing is, you have one of the most powerful tools in the game! The XMLSpawner! ! To add an xmlspawner in game, just type “[add xmlspawner” and target the ground. This small item, is so huge.. its gonna take more than one post to cover everything I know about it.

Ultima Online Emulation, Simple XML Spawner Invasion 101

So with my coffee this morning, I decided to record myself creating a progressive spawn with an XmlSpawner. This just covers the basics, But you will get the idea.. and build from what you learn. I will be making more videos on this subject in the future. I am not a pro by any means, but I know enough to share.. I wish I had a guide like this to help me out years ago! would have saved me a bunch of tinkering. The official release of this guide can be found on ServUO.com, and you will find a download that contains a Word file with pictures and more details on how it all works.. with better quality than you get with the video. This link will take you there! https://www.servuo.com/threads/easy-xml-spawner-invasion.16422/

*There is no commentary on the video, im currently looking for a decent, but cheap Mic. just a heads up*

Come build your Destiny: UO Welcome Home!

Oh! and dont forget about the Login rewards for the anniversary! They will also disappear on July 1st! Have Fun!

New Content Spotlight: The Haunted Lighthouse

The Content Spolight section will take a deeper dive into new content on the server! The Haunted Lighthouse will be our topic this issue! The Haunted Lighthouse is somewhere in overworld Trammel, It is the former home of Gerald and Gloria Grindlebottom. Gerald a former cartographer gone necromancer, and Gloria his lovley wife. The lighthouse is a puzzle house, you will have to investigate everything inside, the smallest thing could reveal the biggest clue to finding your way through the maze within. With 10+ relics to collect this content upgrade is just another example of hidden content on the server. Currently the doors are locked as I put the finishing touches on the encounter. I will make an annoucement when it is complete.

Getting Started On Welcome Home: Starting Items & The New Player Experience Part 1

Welcome Home is a quick start server. Special enhancements have been made to the game, to make getting skilled, up and geared up much quicker. Instead of dropping a ton of items in your bag to start, Welcome Home has a custom starting area. “ALL New characters” will find the following items in thier pack when they start: 60k Gold, A Runic Atlas, A Full Spellbook, A Full Necrobook, A Blessed Bag Of Sending, and a Fairy Lantern (The fairy lantern allows you to shrink a pet, and store it inside the lantern, until you are ready to use it again) You will also receive 1 per account (2 Total Accounts): A Deed to instantly tame a pet, a mythic character token, a deed to a 2 story wood and plaster house, a raised garden bed, and to show our thanks for participation in beta you will also get 1000 Sovereign Notes, used in our in game store. (You can obatin more Sovereign Notes in game by completing daily quests, all daily quests drop Sovereign Notes.) Be careful when making your 1st characters. To help prevent farming of starting items, the time you must wait to delete a character has been increased to 30 days! You will find our store has been customized, anything that resembles Pay To Win, has been removed, and new items have also been added, things like Storage Keys, Everlasting Bandages, a Bank Crystal, +100 Luck Deed, & more, new items are added all the time, mostly cosmetic and quality of life items. You will also find that the prices have been reduced on almost everthing in the store.

Okay so back to the get starting guide, You will find a gypsy banker where you login. Off load your starting stuff into bank, and start heading north, you will find your 1st quest not too far on the east side of the road. Watch for NPCs with [?] and [!] at the end of thier name. These are the NPCs that have rumors and or quests.

Ole Bom, will be looking to hire you to help him gather flowers for his wife. In return you will recieve a special currency used only on this map, to help you get started. For now, grab this quest and continue to head north as you look for the flowers Bom needs. !!Important!! If you leave this map, thats it.. you cannot return, so make sure to complete the 3 quests, before you leave!!

Radagash, & Bejorn

In the northern region of the map, you will find the home of Radagash the Wizard, he and his Friend Bejorn both have quests for you. Radagash will need you to eliminate the corupted animals in the forest, and kill any orcs you may find & Bejorn is hungry for mushroom pie! and needs you to gather mushrooms. Grab these 2 remaining quests, and then head south to complete your objectives. If you would like to see spoilers for this area so you can move through it more quickly, check the very bottom of this post for spoilers.

Once you have completed and turned in your three quests, you should have a small stack of “Radagash’s Blessings” Head over to Goldburry and double click on the fountain next to her to spend your Blessings! You should have enough to buy one of each item, these items include: an Item bless deed, a soulstone token, a 100% lrc robe (Gargish Version on 2nd page of the fountain interface) and a statue that will give you a bonded windrunner mount, that should be able to handle just about everything on you next adventure, The New Haven Revamp! Once you have obtained all of your rewards, speak to Treebeard and he will assist you on your trip to New Haven!

Join Us On Discord For More Information!!

!!! SPOILERS !!! The following paragraph contains spoilers for the New Player Experience, Part I. The corupted animals work like a champ spawn, kill the waves of animals, and an orc will spawn at the end, he will contain one of the mushrooms you need for your quests. Other than that you will find everything else you need on the ground. If for some reason you forget to spend your blessings, you will find Radagash at New Haven bank, and he is standing next to a copy of the fountain to spend your blessings. !!! SPOILERS !!!

Lotro: Angmar Slayer Deed Guide, Episode 4 Uruk & Orc Slayer

In this episode of the Angmar Slayer Deed Guide, we hunt down some Uruk. There are roughly 15 Uruks on Angmar’s Landscape, So we hop back and forth from Mor Maudhúl & Carn Dum. Should be enough to keep you killing Uruks all day long. You can also get some counts on your Orc Slayer Deed as well. Not the best place tho, Check out this episode: Click Here for the best way to complete your Orc Slayer deed. Our starting point is Gath Forthnír, in north-eastern Angmar. Best way to get there is to ask a Hunter to take you to East Angmar. If you are on Landroval, Hit me up. I can port you out there.

, The mighty Uruks form the elite forces of the armies of Angmar. Having defeated so many of thier kind in battle, your name now commands a certain respect — and even deeper enmity — among their ranks.

Lotro: Dungeons Of Angmar, Slayer Deed Guide, Defender of the Ashen Wastes!

Todays adventure takes us back into Urugarth, to hunt down some of The Witch King’s most dangerous minions, and complete the deed, Champions of Urugarth Tier: 1. A Troll, 2 Uruks, a Goblin and a Dragon!

Northern and Eastern Angmar are terrible to behold. A large rift dominates the land, filled with massive spiders, deadly wargs, endless hordes of Orcs and in some places, Gaunt Lords, Lithul and Giants. Most of northern Angmar is dominated by the Orcish fortresses surrounding Carn Dûm itself, apart from the small Trév Gállorg outposts. Overall, it is an ugly, dangerous but quest filled land. It is also where some of the main quests in the Epic takes place and the home of Mordirith, the False King himself.

“Lying on the outskirts of Carn Dûm is the fortress of Urugarth, home to countless Orcs, goblins, and other curs of Angmar… The breeding grounds of Angmar’s horde.”

Urugarth is a World Instance located south-east of Carn Dûm or can be found in the Instance Finder.

To complete this deed perform the following objective(s)

Rewards:

  • 5 LOTRO Points
  • Title: Defender of the Ashen Wastes
  • Increased Reputation with Council of the North ( 700 )
