Hope In Pause

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 3:55 pm

Day in and day out we

moved everywhere

everyday we went

where we wanted we

were transported in

every way as we

came and as we

went we had full

control we had the

full say whereas then

came the new dawn of

a new and different more

isolated day with much of

life living in a different

directed way we are more

planted in one or two or

just a few places to go.

We are attempting to

keep the hope of being

safe and sound establishing

about us a more solid

ground everyday our roots

are stronger in the soil

of our homes where we daily

plant our daily seeds tending

to the soils or our daily and

weekly needs of our living

foundation where we awaken

to execute our daily preparation

where we now work

where we now achieve

where we try to hold on to

hope for the near future

and for the longer run with

each new day with each

rising sun that there will be

the ability of a healthier

safer

next generation.

Finding It

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 3:55 pm

Finding love is

an amazing event

that you can try

your hardest to

look for but often

it finds you first

and when it does

it is the greatest

feeling in the whole

world.

Love hits like a

physical

thunderstorm

of warm

almost hot blushes

and cool

almost cold chills

all at once rivaling

the most notorious

weather storm fronts.

Then comes making good

sense of it all so it does

not lose its positive

status like that of the

present state of The

American Shopping

Mall there will be days

where distance feels like

when East and West

Berlin were separated by

barbed wire

gunfire

and the great big wall

but then getting together

again will bring back

the fabulous feelings

of it all where both

persons will sail

higher than kites

lighting the skies

brighter than the

fireworks over

Washington Heights

making time for being

together and enjoying

the moments that make

love all the more worth

waiting for enabling the

heart to be opened up

like a door then melting

in each other’s arms like

the creamy

marshmallows

in a newly made

smore.

Live It Full

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 3:49 pm

Every day is a gift

of life that not everyone

gets not everyone

sees success in the

goals that everyone

sets living each day

to the fullest and

making it a point to

smile is the way I

wish to spend each

day giving from my

heart showing the

best of my style.

Its is a challenge to

live up to the many

expectations I feel

inspired by many but

sometimes I feel as

if I am sold out for

a penny because I

did not change but

at the same time

am expected to be

the same in order to

live up to my name

but I better change

so who I am and

 the ways others see

me do not become

so boring and lame.

Every day to me

and the people I

see are not

comprised of a

measure of data but

feelings and expressions

of the whole world we

live in and the whole

person we are so as

not to give in to being

rated only by

percentages and

intelligences that only

exist on a device charged

up and turned on

we are the formula

we are the smart

in our brain and in our

heart that keeps life

beautiful and colorful

as the days go on

so that our own

thoughts, hopes,

dreams, and

inspirations

are never totally

gone.

A Long One

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 8:31 pm

It is a long winter

a strong winter

a deep winter

definitely not a

cheap winter

with two days

of snow followed

by two to three

days of rain making

everything a pain

melting into sloppy

ponds and lakes

that are frozen by

morning into ice

without warning.

I has been a while

since there has been

this good snow for

good trails for

snowshoeing

snowmobiling

and cross country

skiing the trails like

the roads had all

melted down to ice

which is never nice

at least for this

human being.

This winter has

definitely been

about snow and

more snow and

more snow a big

white marshmallow

sundae-like show

with the only

complaint being that

it gets ever harder to

see when there is a

place you need to

go because the

banks are only

getting ever higher

so that pulling out

into the road is

getting ever harder

because if a vehicle

is coming you have to

pull out ever further

into the street in order

to actually know and

if a crash happens

it could be your

fault when it comes

 to talking to the

Blue 5-0.

Every street feels

like driving in an

endless maze of

banks so high

and numerous

that workers no

longer know where

to put it for many

this winter is the

way they remember

and have said

it is really supposed

to be

but should it?

Going From Here

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 9:21 pm

How are we living

is our life bleakly

existing on a dark

downtrodden street

with cracked walkways

from the long past

when the area was

amassed with the

moving of feet and

every breath taken

every day was a

renewal to every

heart giving life a

brand new beat so

now does it seem as

if all that was ever

upward has now

taken a seat severing

all the ties covering all

the ears closing all the

eyes dismissing all the

concerns ignoring all

the cries are we who

were once the ones to

rise to the occasion now

letting all we have built

or made be flattened by

invasion or can we get

past the long road’s

diversions rising on a

new day with new

uplifting emersions

rewriting old tired

toxic scripts with brand

new fresh and enlightening

versions grabbing the hand

to lift up those who may

have faltered to make

life better with ways and

means slightly adjusted

or altered closing the old

book without a second

look turning onto a new

street taking our lives in

a new direction not afraid

to make a mistake or

receive a rejection we

pick ourselves up and

left our heads once again

with our eyes on the prize

of aiming toward perfection.

Restoring Brain Power

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 6:58 pm

How can you tell

if intelligence is

real how do you

know that what

you know is the

real deal it is not

always something

you can necessarily

see or feel it is

not something

somebody else

can bump and

steal it does not

matter whose face

in the place has

the greatest

popularity or present

social appeal not

everyone eats up

everything they

learn as if they

all bought the same

five dollar BK meal

not everybody gets

hooked to learning

by the same rod

and reel or is

awarded the same

gold seal as if we

are all cars that

drive with the same

exact steering wheel

because some days

we all have mental

wounds that need to

heal after thinking we

always easily-peasily

had it all but instead

we dropped the ball

causing our self

perceptions to

temporarily tumble

and keel we need to

slip past those dark

moments with the

speed and persistence

of an electric eel so

we can restore our

positive focus on

achievement with

good vibes and

great zeal.

And On It Goes

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 9:58 pm

There is an apple

on the sewer

there is a foot

below the hydrant

there is littered water

flowing as pedestrians

are going around the

man who is lying after

coming close to

dying from the hits that

he was trying and the

trip that sent him

flying as viejas passing

cross themselves while

sighing he is alone there

is no denying as the

vendors begin their

selling without an

actual foretelling of

how much they will be

raising from the many

out there grazing from

the stalls to the stores

looking for any

possible scores as

the busses keep on

rolling past crossing

signals counting down

to when the law will

allow those on foot

to keep on heading back

uptown as newer murals

have been added to the

older along the wall

each one proclaiming

despite the arguing

and blaming over the

roots of the problems

that each side is

claiming that the

heart the soul

the spirit and the

rhythm of El Barrio

will never fall!

Standing Tall In Front Of All

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 9:03 pm

Are the people

we wait on just

numbers in the

book do their

lives flash by

our eyes without

us giving a

second look?

Do we know their

ins their

outs

do we take note

of their cries

and shouts

that may clash

with our own

from our skin

down to our

bone keeping

our host on

reserve so as

to take the road

high from any

exhausting mental

and verbal bouts?

Do we jump

right in just to

get the hands

of recognition

clapping our way

not really caring

where and how

the seeds of good

faith are planted

just as long as we

like what the

inscriptions on their

leaves have to

ideally say no matter

if in the grand scheme

all they promote is

growth delay

soul betray

self decay

we need to stand

tall with the

strength of a

reinforced brick

bodied wall with

our own message to

all to relay that we

will not sell out to

the cheapest bidder

not here

not now

not ever and

a day!

Climate Change

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 10:59 pm

Rain more rapidly

falling

waters more rapidly

rising

streets more rapidly

crumbling

floods more rapidly

intensifying

winds more rapidly

blowing

their speeds more rapidly

growing

their damage more rapidly

showing

average temperatures rapidly

arising

the snows of winter rapidly

demising

weather patterns rapidly

drifting

their climatic zones rapidly

shifting

flash fires more rapidly

burning

their smoke and flames more rapidly

churning

our nerves and our senses rapidly

numbing

as these changes in our world

keep

rapidly

coming.

No Arrogance Please

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 2:48 pm

Arrogance is like a

dragon that needs to

be slain arrogance is

like that hostile

passenger who

immediately needs

to be removed from

the plane arrogance

is that member of

a team who refuses

to go along with

the grain arrogance

is that car that needs

to be disconnected

from the train

arrogance is that

condemned house

needing to be

knocked down with

a crane arrogance is

that toxic residue that

needs to be flushed

down the drain

arrogance is like

that one driver who

always goes slow in

the left lane arrogance

is like that car horn

late at night that drives

all the neighbors

completely insane

arrogance is an

attitude that needs

to be washed away

with a torrential rain

in order for our country

and our world to have

a brighter future we

need to make it a

priority that arrogance

is a characteristic

of our humanity

that shall no longer

remain.

Returning

Filed under: Poetry, Uncategorized — migueltio @ 7:35 pm

~Inspired by “When Trying To Return Home” by Jennifer Maritza McCauley

Every once in

a while we get

the urge to return

home not necessarily

a house in the place

where we grew

where we knew

almost every local

face but a return to

a state of mind that

gives us a sense that

all is well and that

we can start on a better

path or make a better

plan after a time where

all we did was raise a

little hell til one day we

heard the ring of a

distant little bell a

signal to our ears

and mind that was

trying to tell that now

was a good time to

put on the brakes and

redirect our thoughts

our visions our goals

our plans because way

down in the capacity

of our heart is a tiny

urge to press a tiny

button in our souls

that says “re-start”

not necessarily

abandoning

our identity

our passion

our love

for the life we are

leading but sometimes

even the finest roses

need a little weeding

that directs us to a

homebase a comfortable

place to renew the love

for those whose love is

all around us and to

rediscover those positive

sparks that create a light

and a warmth that embraces

us protects us and affectionately

directs us as their energies

behold and warmly

surround us.
