Getting lost is not a waste of time

  • crinkled ~ haiku

    amidst slurps of mulled rice wine

  • I stepped~ free verse

    I stepped out from the silence
    into the darkness
    with an old-fashioned flashlight,
    one that could be used as a weapon ...when daylight comes.

    I walked unseeing
    through the haze of timelessness
    past the old banyan tree,
    one that knew all the stories
    of all our unspoken deeds.

    I traced my days,
    sketching cobwebbed thoughts
    of matchstick men and crayon dreams
    along the trail of my footsteps
    to find myself once more.

  • I’m ~ free verse

    I'm happy she said.
    Her voice is slow, soft,
    as she places a lily, a rose, a kiss
    on every version of her
    that revealed to her,
    her courage to be flawed,
    her fears holding her back,
    her wonder that made her stay,
    real and kind and
    quietly, radiantly, alive.

  • hibernation ~ a Quadrille

    Too scared of being seen,
    I hide in vociferation;
    In the midst of loud laughter,
    an awkward aberration;
    What the heart yearns for,
    so lost in translation;
    Awake or asleep,
    don't want to answer questions;
    What is it I am?
    A poet in hibernation.

  • sugar cane ~ free verse

    sugarcane fields sway with the wind
    my mother says she can hear the sounds
    of the light green fronds touching, laughing
    as dusty red mud rises and stirs up feelings

    a watery sun rains down with news of the weather
    little white houses huddle like village elders
    glued together by yesterdays and
    wispy tomorrows
    the soothsayer with his parakeet pronounces as fate

    Far away fires from burning crop paints a strip of air
    curls of grey, a veil for the far off hill
    gentle rising arms that have held
    all of these years
    dear to the earth, the moon and the stars.

  • Mist ~

    For my two friends V and M,
    M wrote a book and V helped him;
    Words and years intertwined
    and yesterday, it was finally time;
    "Paper boat Journeys" made it's way
    to hearts that read and minds that play
    in worlds I want to rest today;
    V and M wouldn't want it any other way

     In the early days of paper boat journeys,  V and M and I met for dinner and I became one of its editors. I’m so grateful and happy and thrilled that it is now on sale! Will add link soon.

  • The rest ~ free verse

    The rest of the world
    makes me think
    of questions of fate
    of reasons to love or hate;
    whether to choose this path
    or another in the aftermath;
    The rest of the world
    makes me think
    You...
    You make me feel.
