One of South Korea’s largest crypto exchanges, Coinone, yesterday become the first exchange in the country to join Ripple’s global payment network, RippleNet, in order to use Ripple’s xCurrent product for a new global remittance service called „Cross”.
Coinone, which is one South Korea’s top three crypto exchanges, has around 643,000 users, and handles over $97 million in transactions per day. It is also a member of the DAYLI Financial Group, and one of its subsidiaries, DAYLI Intelligence, signed a partnership with SBI Ripple Asia last year to bring Ripple’s blockchain solutions to the Korean market.
Remittance outflows from South Korea, mostly to other countries in Southeast Asia, have steadily increased over the last decade, according to the World Bank. The new „Cross” service, which will be offered by one of Coinone’s subsidiaries, „Coinone Transfer”, will be launched in June, and will use Ripple’s xCurrent to provide a faster, more reliable, and lower cost way for South Korean reidents to send payments to friends/family across the region.
The CEO of Coinone Transfer, Wonshee Shin, made the following comment:
“We are proud to be the first digital exchange in Korea to join RippleNet and implement Ripple’s xCurrent solution… Ripple’s xCurrent solution will revolutionize the lives of our customers by providing them with a real-time, low-cost global remittance service.

Spanish banking giant Banco Santander – the world’s 19th largest bank – recently launched „Santander One Pay FX”, a blockchain-based international payment service that uses Ripple’s xCurrent technology to allow retail customers to make same-day cross-border payments.
Currently, this new service is only available to retail customers in the UK, Spain, Poland, and Brazil, but it will become available in other countries – most likely, the United States and the other Euro-zone countries – in the coming months.
„Santander One Pay FX” allows customers to specify the exact amount the beneficiary will receive in the destination currency. For now, international payments are only guaranteed to be delivered the same day or at worst the next one, but this summer instant transfers will become possible.
In Santander’s press release, Ana Botín, Banco Santander’s Executive Chairman, said:
“One Pay FX uses blockchain-based technology to provide a fast, simple and secure way to transfer money internationally – offering value, transparency, and the trust and service customers expect from a bank like Santander. “From today, customers in the UK can use One Pay to transfer money across Europe and to the US. In Spain, customers can transfer to UK and US, while customers in Brazil and Poland can transfer to the UK.”
Each of the four countries the service is now available on offers customers different options depending on the market. For example, customers in Spain are able to send dollars to the USA and British pounds to the UK, while UK customers can send euros to 21 Euro-zone countries and dollars to the USA.
The service uses xCurrent technology from the privately-held Californian company Ripple. This payment solution allows banks to settle cross-border payments with end-to-end tracking. It is important to note that xCurrent does not use Ripple’s XRP token (unlike Ripple’s xRapid).
Santander’s debit cardholders can access the One Pay FX service via online banking or mobile banking. In the latter case, iPhone-owning customers can use the bank’s „OnePay FX” mobile app, as long as their debit card has been registered with Apple Pay. Santander is not charging transaction fees for using OnePay FX but says that it may do so in future.

Global Cryptocurrency Groups Plan to Sue Google, Facebook Over Advertising Ban

The Russian Association of Crypto-Currency and Block-Finish (RACIB) and industry associations in Korea and China are planning to sue Google, Twitter, Facebook, and Yandex for refusing to place cryptocurrency advertising, RACIB head Yuri Pripachkin told the Blockchain RF-2018 congress. The parties intend to file suit in May, Russian publishing giant TASS reports.
Pripachkin said a one-time refusal to place the advertising constitutes collusion.
Collusion Claimed
Pripachkin said the ban on Twitter caused a “special indignation at the crypto community.” He said Twitter made a subscription available for its own cryptocurrency and banned all others.
He said the four companies’ collusion manipulates the market and has led to a “significant drop” in the market in recent months.
A new organization is being launched to include industry associations from Korea and China in the lawsuit – the Eurasian Association of Blockbearers. RACIB, Korea Venture Business Associations and the Chinese Association of crypto investors LBTC have all signed the agreement creating the new association.
The new association will create a fund and will file the suit in a U.S. state. The suit will be filed not only against the organizations but their shareholders, Pripachkin said. If the shareholders and managers of these companies own cryptocurrencies which they use for personal gain, the shareholders are subject to prosecution, he said.
Twitter Follows Facebook, Google
Twitter yesterday announced that cryptocurrency and ICO-related advertisements will be banned from its website.
Twitter confirmed its new policy in following Facebook and Google in banning advertisements promoting cryptocurrencies and ICOs from its platform. The ban will also include all ads related to cryptocurrency exchanges and wallet services, with an exception afforded to publicly listed companies listed on certain major stock markets.
The Twitter ban will not apply to cryptocurrency exchanges registered and licensed to operate by the Financial Services Agency (FSA).
Facebook added advertising related to “binary options, initial coin offerings, or cryptocurrency” under its “prohibited financial products and services” policy earlier this year.
Google, the world’s largest online advertising provider, announced its ban on cryptocurrency advertising which will come into effect in June.

Coinfloor have announced their group of cryptocurrency exchanges will now include Coinfloorex, a bitcoin futures exchange. Offering “institutional grade risk management and governance,” traders, hedge funds, and miners will get bitcoin futures “at scale” through “specifically designed cryptocurrency contracts and operational controls.”

Coinfloor Launches Physical Bitcoin Futures
“Our mission is to build a bridge between Fiat currency and cryptocurrency,” Obi Nwosu, CEO of Coinfloor stressed, “to drive the stability and sustainability of cryptocurrency. Numerous market participants are calling on existing cryptocurrency exchanges that provide futures contracts to switch from cash to physical settlement. However, making that transition will be very difficult for them to achieve. We understood this requirement from the start, and have worked for over two years to bring this functionality to market. Now, institutional investors and traders can capitalise on market dynamics, within their own risk parameters and in line with their individual trading strategies.”

The innovation this time around seems to be the “physical delivery” aspect of bitcoin futures. “Settlement is based on physical delivery rather than an index price from across other exchanges, which provides maximum pricing transparency. Access to Coinfloor’s spot exchange enables investors to easily convert Bitcoin to Fiat currency post-physical delivery, creating opportunities for longer-term currency appreciation or through meeting Bitcoin-denominated obligations,” the company explained.
For any crypto exchange, hacking is an issue. Anticipating such worries, “Security of the exchange is underscored by 100% multi-signature cold storage cryptocurrency custody

The Japanese Bank Consortium will release an instant domestic payments mobile app, “MoneyTap,” using Ripple’s technology in the fall of 2018, Ripple’s blog reported yesterday, March 6.
The 61-bank consortium, led by SBI Ripple Asia, is representative of more than 80 percent of all of Japan’s banking assets, according to Ripple. Takashi Okita, CEO of SBI Ripple Asia, said in Ripple’s blog post:
“Together with the trust, reliability and reach of the bank consortium, we can remove friction from payments and create a faster, safer, and more efficient domestic payments experience for our customers.”
Three of the banks in the consortium, SBI Net Sumishin Bank, Suruga Bank and Resona Bank, will begin using the app this coming fall, while the rest of the banks will join in gradually. MoneyTap will allow users to make purchases 24 hours a day, every day of the week.
Ripple has long focused on building relationships with banks to use its payment technologies. In February, Ripple announced two new financial service partnerships; one with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authorityfor use of its cross-border payment technology for banks within the country and another with Western Union, who is testing Ripple’s Blockchain-based settlement system for transactions.
This month, a South Korean bank also announced that it planned on using Ripple’s cross-border payment technologies for remittances, prompted by a Japanese-based test of Blockchain-based remittances involving Ripple and SBI Group.

WAVES may become one of the more influential platforms allowing the technology for anyone to launch tokens. The fame of WAVES has led to the launch of 10,000 platform-specific digital assets. And while some of the tokens may not have a clear use case, the technology is drawing attention.
The WAVES market price has recovered somewhat after the correction, but after going to above $16, the current levels around $5 means the asset is back to the positions before the big December spike and crash.
WAVES and Tokenization in Russia
WAVES is a decentralized organization with an international presence, but in actuality, the project is perfectly positioned to gain the Russian crypto coin market, and unroll tokenization. Along with Ethereum, WAVES may serve for Russia the way that NEO and QTUM are seen as positive projects for the Chinese crypto space.
In the summer of 2017, WAVES attempted to create proprietary tokens and a blockchain solution for the Russian National Settlement Depository, and tokenize exchange-traded assets.
The WAVES Community
The WAVES team and community are constantly growing. Not only is the company hiring additional developers and marketers, but the additional WAVES Community Token and WAVES Go asset are helping generate loyalty.
The platform is competing with the NXT decentralized token ecosystem, as the founder Sasha Ivanov had experience with that platform before moving onto his own project. The Telegram group is more than 10,000 members strong.
All of these factors may serve WAVES well in 2018, by expanding the platform’s influence and improving the understanding of tokenization. At this point, the WAVES asset is far from Ethereum’s fame, but as networks become overloaded, additional projects may see their share of products. WAVES has smart contracts in the pipeline, to achieve yet another distributed app ecosystem.
The WAVES community token trades at $1.85, down from peaks above $4, while WAVES Go is more volatile, currently at $0.08, down from a peak of $0.30.
Other small-scale tokens only exist on the WAVES platform and are traded on the decentralized exchange. The WAVES project has had problems with fake tokens posing as official digital assets, most often Bitcoin.
