Shopping in the internet can be very convenient for consumers because it offers quick comparison of prices, varieties of goods and/or services, easy access to consumer review and no pressure from sales people. A shopper can just go online anytime he/she wants. It is especially convenient for moms with small children who can not leave their homes because of the hassle of bringing the baby and all the stuff along with them or due to unpredictable weather. They can just find their own time at their own pace and choose the item they desire at the comforts of their home.
The power to have options of what to buy diligently with no pressure from sales clerks following or keeping an eye on your pick. It can be very awkward that someone is looking at your back hoping that you would finally decided on what to buy. Diligent buying, since all information about a certain product are stated in just a click.
The top three product items on my list that i would buy online with no hesitation are the following (1) anti-virus security software for my laptop (2) athletic apparel and (3) music/mp3 files. These downloadable stuff are easier to access and at the same time easy to use and are available in just a click. Athletic apparels usually suits just right to my personally because i am often at the gym for my routine physical fitness. I can find the old time music I once loved to hear yet no longer available in the store or in the mall. They might have been included in the archives or has been declared obsolete.
However, there are items sold that would make me think twice before buying due to the reasons that, sometimes, online shopping can be inconvenient. For example, in buying clothes, you wouldn’t really know which standard size they are using for their products (is it american size/for petite asian size). Since you only see the products, you wouldn’t know if the clothing you buy would really fits you. Also, the power of touch is lacking, you wouldn’t know the texture of the clothing material unless you are familiar with what each material would feel like in your skin and if you have some questions about a certain product you may not have someone to talk to immediately.
There are also privacy issues in shopping online especially if the site you have ordered the product upon would require you to enter your credit card number. The recent turn of events over the world wide web is the emergence of online scam and hackers that might get into your account and pull out all your funds. This concerns a lot of online shoppers nowadays.
If you would ask me what are the three products that I would have second thoughts of buying, the top three on my list are (1) footwear, (2) jewelry and (3) furniture. I love shoes but buying them online would give me doubts on how they fit and on how they would feel on my feet. Looks can be deceiving, as the saying goes. What might have looked beautiful in picture might not live up to my expectations once received. Then what? The other items I listed would give me second thought due to the fact that these items would surely have very costly shipping fees. If ever I find that there would be defects on the product or its just not what you thought you have paid for, it is quite costly to ship them back again to get it replaced.
There are also things that I would never buy online and the top three on my list are (1) food and beverage, (2) beauty products, and (3) gift items. Most items are delivered via courier so I wouldn’t be so assured of the integrity of the product when it arrives. Since the items I have listed are either perishable of vulnerable to breakage during shipping. I don’t find it convenient to order those stuff online
