Welcome to my website!

September 24, 2022

Greetings! This is the home of my stories about The Sims, little pixilated people who live in a fantasy world driven by my thoughts and dreams. Some things are quite different than in our “real” world–occult beings like vampires and werewolves who are part of everyday society, same-sex couples who have biological children with no more difficulty than opposite-sex couples–while other things are very much the same: falling in love, trying to succeed in one’s job, going to school, cleaning the house, paying bills. In this world, I am The Watcher, and I make the rules; it’s my fantasy.

Safe Space

I want to emphasize that my website, and my story world, are safe spaces. There has never been (to this point) a story character who displayed intolerant attitudes (except between vampires and werewolves–that feud goes WAY back), but it is entirely possible it could happen one day, strictly for story advancement. Know that these would never reflect The Watcher’s attitudes, and would never involve the use of slurs or other hateful language.

Of Interest to Sims Fans

I tend to focus on the premade characters of the game, ones who are familiar to Sims fans. I have also introduced characters who are canonical from older versions of the game, particularly Sims 2. Still, there are some characters who are unique, either made by me (on the right in the group picture above), my friends (other folks in the picture), or downloaded from The Sims Gallery. Sometimes I give them make-overs. I deviate from canon as well, creating family relationships with premades and adding additional family members. That doesn’t make it canon; it just makes it this Watcher’s timeline.

I also take a different approach to pictures than many Sims storytellers. I’m not careful about editing out UI or headline effects, because quite often I use those as part of my story, particularly thought bubbles. I always have a direction I want to take my stories, but this is not just storytelling for me; it is play. As such, I like to let my Sims go so I can see what they will do. They often end up directing where the story will go and how it will develop. Sometimes they really throw me a curve ball, and I love it!

If you’ve read all this, you are truly dedicated! I promise that my stories are not this verbose. Thank you for being here.

Welcome to my website! I haven’t posted anything since 2015, and to anyone who may still be an active follower, I apologize. Life happens sometimes, and things that were possible become impossible. The nice thing, though, is that the only constant in life is change, and what was impossible at one point can become possible again. And now, here I am, free to be myself again and to write again.

I have been playing and writing, and will be updating my website soon and archiving the stories that are currently here. In the meantime, please pardon my dust, and thank you! I hope life has been treating you kindly.

I’ve been an avid fan of The Sims since its introduction in 2000, but I was never inspired to blog a story until I took a graduate class in digital media in 2014. The course required starting a blog, and coincided with the release of Sims 4. I decided to combine business with pleasure and write my first Legacy Challenge blog, Pete’s Legacy
