The One With No Power

It was a bit of a slow week. I’ve been babying my shoulder/back and it’s starting to feel a bit better… Since I have been keeping myself quiet, I’ve been getting a lot of crocheting done… I finished Alicia’s on Monday and started Amanda’s the same night. I’ve been having a lot of fun with Amanda’s, and as a result, haven’t been doing as much digital scrapbooking. I need to find a balance.

On Saturday, Josh and Ariana came up for dinner. It was really nice to see them. ❤ We had fun talking, and Josh helped Joe put together my new shelves that are going into the pantry. I was very thankful about that, because if Josh hadn’t of helped, I would have had to do it… And well, I just wasn’t in the mood. 😆

A storm came in on Friday night. I know that I heard it, while I was crocheting, but I didn’t pay it no mind. It was just a LOT of rain and some high winds… But it was enough to knock a tree over the lines, somewhere…

I woke up at around 3:00 in the morning. It was pitch black and dead silent. I was like, “Holy crap!”, which woke Joe up. He got up and lit a candle in the bathroom to give us a little light, and we tried to sleep… The power didn’t come back on (It went off at 2:42 am) until 3:30 in the afternoon, which really put a damper on laundry day. I was able to get some of the laundry washed and my workout in, after the power came back on, but not everything. I had to finish up this morning, as well as do my regular chores… At least I am caught up now!

The One With the Painful Week

Spent the week out of sorts… For one, Joe is on vacation. This messes with my morning routine, and I don’t get any alone time, which my brain craves… I know he needs it, though. He works hard, and we aren’t getting any younger. *sigh* … Both of us lament all the time, about how it’s hard not being able to do everything we used to do. We’re just getting tired. :/

I don’t remember if I mentioned it, but a week or two ago, I strained (or pulled?) a muscle in my back. It is right below my right shoulder blade. I am pretty sure that I did it while working out in Supernatural, probably during a boxing workout… It’s gotten so bad that it hurts to even make the bed. 😥 … I was whining on one of my Supernatural Facebook groups about it, and someone mentioned that you can go into the Supernatural settings and turn off one of the controllers. So now I am working out, one handed. This way, I won’t mess up my streak, but I can also mostly rest my back… The only problem is, I can’t get my heart rate up very high, and am not hitting my zone minutes. 😦

My back is also making it hard to do my regular chores, or much of anything. I just want to sit, leaning against my heating pad, and crochet. This is the only time I am not in pain. 😦

Two more weeks until Alicia is home from Texas! I can’t believe she’s been gone for 4 weeks now. I know she is having a blast, but I miss her. (I don’t miss the extra messes in the kitchen, but I sure miss her!) … This last week she went to see a 4D movie thing, The Tower of the Americas, The San Antonio Zoo, and they saw The Crane Wives in concert, which is Alicia’s favorite group.

The One With Yet Another Slow Week

Not a whole lot to report for the week. Not that I mind a slow news week. No news is good news, right?

I ended up ordering my first photobook from Shutterfly. It covers from my parents wedding until right before we moved to Portland in 1983. I got it on the 50% off sale, which was nice… I put it on the credit card, and won’t order another one until it has been paid off. My 2nd one isn’t quite done yet, but it is getting close. They hold 111 pages, and I have 95 done. I am currently working on 1986, and should have a few pages from 1987 in volume 2…. What is sad is how much I have forgotten. I try to journal, but only remember bits and pieces. I have also forgotten so many names. 😦 Label photos, people! Or you will regret it. 😦

I got a bunch of Christmas presents wrapped. I think I am done buying, but still have a small amount to wrap. I am waiting for Ariana’s last one, and something for Amanda to arrive. I also need to get the ones for Jared & Co packed into a box, so that we can ship them to Arkansas… I sure will miss them this year. 😥

I am almost done with my watch through of Star Trek. I found a list where the episodes and movies are EXACTLY in chronological order, and this watch through has been EPIC! I will never watch them any other way. ❤ … I should finish today, and need to decide what to watch next. 🙂

The One With the Digital Scrapbooking

I finally got caught up on getting my old layouts off of Flickr…. I no longer seem to have access to my external hard drives that have my scrapbooking kits and layouts. 😥 … I also want to stop paying for Pro on Flickr, because I haven’t used the accounts in a long time. In fact, I can’t even sign in on some of them, because the yahoo accounts I used to sign up for Flickr were closed because of neglect. So, I had to go into PayPal and stop payments from that end. I am just thankful I was able to that!

Anyway, I started actual scrapbooking on Thursday. It’s been years, and I also have an updated version of Photoshop Elements, which is quite different than the PS5 I used to use. I ended up having to watch a video on YouTube, and then play around a bit. I got it down in the end, but I feel like it used to be quicker to build a page… But then, I am still relearning, so there is that.

I am trying to split my free time between scrapping and crocheting, but it’s been hard to leave the scrapbooking. I am really enjoying getting back into it.

I do have enough layouts made (from before) to have volume 1 of Julie’s Journey printed, but it’s going to cost like $280 for one 111 page 12X12 album. *shocked* … But the album itself is epic! It starts with my parent’s wedding and ends right before we move to Portland in June of 1983.

My dream is to eventually replace all our huge, clunky old photo albums with sleek photo books. ❤

Not too much else going on. Josh and Ariana came to dinner last night, and it was super awesome to see them. Ariana and I had a nice chat while Josh helped Joe hang some old photos in our closet. ❤ … I made bbq meatballs and mashed potatoes, per their request. It really hit the spot.

The One With the Sunday Update

Until I am caught up on past blog posts (Thank goodness for my years of mini posts on Daylio 😆 ), I am going to try to at least do current weekly updates on what is going on… Unless something major happens, then I hope I can remember to hop on here. I just need to get back into the habit, like I was when the kids were young.

Alicia has been in Texas for a week now. She seems to be really having fun. They haven’t done a whole lot, because her friends have to work, of course. While they are at work, Alicia brought her laptop and she works on her commissions. Her friends names are Faith and Jaiden (a girl).

On Tuesday, they swam in the pool at their apartment and then went arcade hopping. After that, they went on a River Tour… I guess Faith works there, so they got in for free. 🙂 … I would have loved doing that! … Sounds like they were out very late. 😆

We had to take Amanda’s car to the shop on Friday… On the day that Alicia came home from Colorado, Joe took Amanda’s car (Barbie) to work, so he could pick Alicia…. Joe almost made it to work, when the engine light came on and the car went into low power mode and wouldn’t go over 35 mph. Joe limped to work, and Amanda had to go down with the green car (George), to get Alicia. When Joe got off, Barbie was running again, but he had them follow him back to Molalla, just in case.

They took Barbie to O’Reilly’s and had them test it. They told him that the throttle body needed cleaning, and gave him some stuff to use… Long story short, it didn’t work. When Amanda was driving to work on Friday, it did the same thing. Luckily, she was really close to work. Joe told her to meet him at Molalla Auto Body after work… Amanda made it, but barely. It did go into low power mode on the way there, and she had to pull over for a bit.

Anyhoo, they tested it and it does need the throttle body cleaned. On Monday, they quoted us $480 to do the work. I told Amanda that we would go 50/50 on it, and she was very happy about that… They went to pick the car up on Wednesday, and it ended up only costing $399, which made both Joe and Amanda very happy. 😆 … Glad that Barbie is running smoothly again!

Yesterday, Joe and I spent some time outside, cleaning up the front of the house/driveway. We have been letting things slide the last few years, and now that I am not working and have more time for the extras, we decided to tackle it. It ended up taking us 3 hours, but we got all the crap picked up, tossed a bunch of stuff, and I pressure washed the steps and driveway. OMGosh! It looks SO. MUCH. BETTER! … Amanda says that it even smells better, which I hadn’t even noticed that it smells. 😆

Well, guess that pretty much sums up the week. See ya on the flip side!

The One Where I am Tentatively Back

I know. It’s been a long while. A really long while. Too be honest, my mental health was in a really bad spot, and with some of the crap that was going on, I just couldn’t be bothered… But now I really, really regret it. I have some mini short posts on Daylio, but those aren’t much more than “went to work, it sucked” kind of things. *shrugs*

Since I have been unemployed since leaving the bakery, I have been able to get my mental health in a better place, and am even working on my physical health again… Because that took a dive when I was in my dark place, and I gained back everything I lost before. 😥 … But now I am down 27 lbs since June 26th, and am hoping that I can keep it up.

I do want to try and get some old posts up. I won’t be able to do too much, but at least hit the important things… Like the birth of my grandbaby.

Welp… I want to get some crocheting in, so I will leave this for now. Wish me luck on getting caught up! 😆

The One Where Josh Gets Married

Another baby is married, and we have gained another daughter-in-law… But, to be honest, we have considered her one of ours for a long time now. Ariana is wonderful, and we love her so much. She is perfect for Josh. He has found a keeper, for sure!

Originally, Josh and Ariana were planning a small courthouse wedding, with just immediate family in attendance, with a BBQ afterward. He has NEVER liked being the center of attention, so this is what would make him happy… But then other people started wanting more. More people were wanting to come, other people wanted other things done. At one point, Josh told me that it felt like the wedding was for everyone else, and not for him and Ariana… In the end though, it was a beautiful wedding, and perfect for them.

After things got too big for the courthouse, they were planning on having it in someone’s backyard. But then it started to get too big for that (I think the guest list was up to around 50 by then???). Josh was stressing about it to us, and I suggested reserving one of the covered spaces at like Feyrer Park or Eagle Fern park. Josh perked up at that. 🙂 He and Ariana went to look at them. Feyrer Park was a quick no, because the spaces were too much out in the open, and he didn’t want to be on display. The next day, they drove out to Eagle Fern, and loved them! ❤ They decided that they were having the wedding there, and it was perfect! So them!

The weather was gorgeous! You couldn’t have asked for better! The sun was shining, and because of all the trees, it never felt too hot. Glorious day, really! … By the time we got there, things were pretty much set up, and there wasn’t anything for us to do. We just stood around, chatting, and I went to get some photos of people.

They didn’t have a wedding rehearsal, so once the wedding ordained lady got there, we did a quick run-through on what we were supposed to do… I even had a part… Just days before the wedding, Josh asked if I would walk him down the aisle. ❤ I was so touched! It started out with me walking Josh down the aisle, then the bridesmaids, groomsmen, etc walked down, and then Ariana was walked down by her dad.

The ceremony itself was short and sweet. Josh looked so handsome in his blue suit, and Ariana was gorgeous! She had 3 bridesmaids; Amanda, and her two best friends. Josh only had 2 groomsmen. Jared was his best man, and his best friend (and business partner), Tyler, was also a groomsmen. They all looked wonderful!

After the ceremony, I was about to head to the restroom, when I found out that Josh and Ariana wanted me and Ariana’s mom to be their witnesses on their marriage license. I can’t begin to tell you how touched I was and how happy it made me. ❤ I loved being a part of things, and that they wanted me to be. *happy sigh* … So I followed them to the table where they were set up. We got it all signed, and got some pictures.

Josh and Ariana then wanted to do their private vows. Josh is not one for doing these things in a crowd, and that is totally okay. Josh let me tag along, and they also had their photographer there as well (Ariana’s sister-in-law). There is a bridge where they wanted to do it. The wedding officiator drove us there, and then left. Josh and Ariana went to the middle of the bridge to say their vows, while Jessica and I stayed a distance away and took some photos. Then, when they were done, we did a mini photoshoot, and got some amazing shots! ❤

We then walked back to the A-frame, where I made a quick and needed pit-stop. *lol* … Then it was time to eat. Relatives of Ariana run a taco truck or something like that, and they were making authentic tacos. (We helped pay for that. ❤ ) The food was good, and it was nice visiting while we ate.

After we were done eating, Ariana’s brother, Jordon, took up the microphone. He started out with a speech about the wedding, and soon a ton of people were taking the microphone and talking. I have never seen anything like it. They kept trying to get Joe and I to say something, but neither of us were brave enough, especially since we didn’t know too many of the people there. Jared and Amanda both spoke, though. Jared had everyone laughing, and Amanda brought on the tears. ❤ (I was able to get them both on video.)

They had the father/daughter dance, and then Josh and Ariana danced. They also did a big toast, and played some games… but mostly, everyone just visited. It was really nice.

The day could have been difficult on Josh, because of wanted to stay out of the lime-light… But he took care of that with some liquid courage. *lol* I could tell he was a bit buzzed, when I saw him dancing with Ariana’s mom. *lol* … I really think that they both had a great time, and it was a wonderful, down to earth wedding. It was perfect. ❤

As the wedding was winding down, people started inviting themselves over to Josh and Ariana’s apartment for an “after party”. I think Jordon instigated it. He is quite the character. *lol* … I doubt it was originally in the plans, but Josh and Ariana rolled with it. Jared and the girls all ended up there as well. I hope they had fun!

The One Where We’re All Together

I am so happy right now! … Jared flew in today, as he is here for Josh’s wedding. I know it’s only been a month since they moved to Arkansas, but I have missed him so much! … Also, since it is the night before the wedding, Josh is staying here over night as well. ❤ … So, for the first time since 8/30/19, ALL FOUR OF MY KIDS ARE SLEEPING UNDER OUR ROOF TONIGHT!!! I can’t tell you how that make me feel. ❤ It may never happen again, so I don’t want to miss a moment of our time together.

The kids decided to make the most of it, and all pitched in to buy some alcohol. *shakes head* … Amanda is not officially old enough to partake, but I let it slide. It’s not like they overdo it or anything… But I have to be honest. It surprises me that they all do it. Joe and I never drink, so the kids weren’t around it growing up. It’s weird. *shrugs*

I had spent the afternoon baking cookies for the wedding, and made French Dips for dinner, which is a favorite of the boys (and everyone else, to be honest). Then we sat around the table, chatting, laughing, and playing a game called “The Chameleon” … Joe and I didn’t really know what we were doing, but it was fun none-the-less. 😆

Once everyone decided that we better get some sleep for the wedding, I got the kitchen cleaned and then got my ironing board out. Jen had asked me to iron Jared’s shirt for the wedding, and Josh asked me to iron his suit. I was more than happy to do that for my boys. It made me so happy to be doing something for them, and especially to be ironing for Josh’s wedding. It makes my heart smile, to see how happy he is with Ariana. ❤

I wish we could have another evening like this. It will be few and far between, now that Jared is in Arkansas… But I tell you what, tonight was perfect. ❤

The One With the Surprise

Today, Jared called and said that he and Jen wanted to come over for a bit. I was excited, because I am always up for a Jare-Bear hug. ❤

When they got here, they came in with a box of donuts. They put them on the counter while we greeted each other and chatted. Soon they pushed the donuts and said to eat up. I, trying to be good (and feeling self conscious about my weight), said that I would wait until after we had dinner. Then Joe, taking my lead, said he would wait as well. At this they seemed a little annoyed and insisted that we have a donut. I was thinking, how weird, but didn’t want to upset them… And heck, I do love me a donut, so I opened the box… Taped inside the lid of the box was a note:

“Eat up! My Mommy doesn’t want to be the only one with a big belly! ❤ Baby Johnson”

THEY ARE HAVING A BABY!!!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

It took a minute or so for Joe to grasp the meaning than me. I gasped, started crying, and then went to hug Jared. ❤ … Apparently, they were counting on me crying. 😆

A few months ago, I had found an adorable Baby Yoda onsie at the mall, while shopping with the girls. I had picked it up, along with a Baby Yoda Lil Golden Book, waiting for the news of my first grandbaby. I just didn’t know if it would go to Jared and Jen, or Josh and Ariana… Looks like we know now! … So I went to our room to bring it out and gave it to them. ❤

While we were chatting, I remembered that Jaimee had paid her rent in three $100 bills, so I gave them one and told them to spend it on baby things. (When we were at Josh’s place to shower last weekend, we put one in their wedding fund frame thing.)

We had called Alicia out, and she was just as excited about the new baby as us. Then, we Facetimed Amanda, as she was working at the market. She was very vocal about her excitement. So much so that the vender near her heard everything and gave Amanda a bouquet of flowers to congratulate her. ❤

Anyway, the baby is due June 2nd. I am so excited to be a Memaw!!! (I got that from The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon). ❤ ❤ ❤

The One With No Power

Slow week at work. It’s just been me, N, and Rick all week. They don’t come in until 8:00, so I got to work the first couple hours by myself. Love that… We’ve just been doing bulk all week, and I have done some R&D. Usually, when I leave at 2:30, they left as well, so they aren’t even working 40 hours.

We have had some high heat and a windstorm came through. After the wildfires in 2020, they were worried about starting another fire, so they turned off power. We went down at 11:30 on Friday morning and it didn’t come back until 5:22 on Sunday. That made for a boring weekend! We did go into town on Sunday. We took showers at Josh’s apartment, and then went to the laundry mat so I could get the laundry caught up. I do like going to the laundry mat, but I DO NOT like leaving the house. *sigh*

Our anniversary was yesterday, but we didn’t do anything… Mainly because of the lack of power. 😆
