Stunning to watch these this evening here in County Mayo, Ireland. Truely magical

I agree with Anne “there is always something to photograph” – so this week she sets us the challenge of “What’s around the Corner?”
I am at an advantage here as last week we had snow (just briefly for a day) – which makes what’s around the corner a bit more interesting than usual. As I set out on my walk I looked up and noticed the moon was still in the sky. I hadn’t noticed the birds till I uploaded the image.

A little further on, I spotted that someone had walked the path before me!

With the next snow shower incoming the light began to change.

The light turned to sepia, allowing me to get this oak gall on one of the young oak trees.

By the time I got home the shower had stopped and the light returned. Two lovely pied wagtails were hanging about the chicken coop and I managed to get a photograph of this one.

Many thanks to Anne for a great challenge.

Wishing you all a very happy 2026
The Lens-Artists team are having their “Last Chance” challenge for 2025. I have blogged a lot less things year, which means there are lots of photographs I haven’t had the opportunity to share. The Lens Artist challenges have always been a great prompt for me, and I really enjoy seeing the variety of images that are shared on a single theme.
2025 has been a very different year for me, as both my parents passed away. We miss them. Grief does make you reassess life and become much more aware of ones own mortality. Nature, and being out in nature, has been especially important for me this year.
I wish to dedicate this post to my parents. They always encouraged me to be creative and they instilled in me a love of the natural world.

Wishing all my readers a very Happy New Year.
