In the heart of an old and snob little continent rises an amphitheatre surrounded by rivers and protected by a dark sea.
The place I was born this life-time is almost round (The Round Country was called for a while before a little and valuable piece was taken away in a power game). If seen from above looks like a succession of concentric layers with green pastures in the center surrounded by rocky dungeons, some of them all year round covered by white snow. They then slide slowly down the hills with grapevine and orchards to reach the plains. Here is where you can get lost easily in the silence and immovability. And if you go on you’ll finally bath your feet in the most dancing stream in Europe, Danube.
Tourists are coming here to see wooden plough in the fields pulled by oxen, time forgotten remote villages where people live as their barbarian ancestors used to. Although they are Christians, most of their customs lose their roots in the mist of history. Pagan dances and fierce masks. The northern part bears traditions far beyond the Christianity beginnings.
Women are the pillars of the community – strong, reliable, inventive, loyal. Home makers. Builders. Those women can fight with the wolves and can chase away the sneaky bear. But they are equally passionate lovers and gentle mothers and faithful friends. Man are hunters…like in the old times, but they hunt jobs in towns for now everything has money value and they were forced to adjust to the new century and to the new but not better rules…It’s a wild paradise. A hard living heaven. A hell.
