Welcome

I’m a consultant and researcher working on adaptation and resilience to climate change. I’m the Director of Garama 3C Ltd, a small consultancy firm whose mission is to support just, effective and ambitious adaptation to rapidly intensifying climate change. My work ranges from supporting local resilience to exploring how rapid climate change influenced past human societies, with lots in between. Download my CV here.

This website provides details of my research and consultancy work, including academic publications, working papers, reports, seminars, and media contributions. It  also houses my occasional blog, with articles on topics ranging from transformational adaptation to climate justice and conflict.

There is a special section on my work in Western Sahara, which has evolved from leading geoarchaeological fieldwork in the territory in the 2000s, to supporting the Sahrawi government with their climate diplomacy in the 2020s. The menu includes a link to my old Sand and Dust blog, which mostly contains reflections on the geopolitics of the Western Sahara conflict, written while I was undertaking regular fieldwork there.
