Maybe

They say it’s the little things
Destroy the vine, baby
So how can we expect to grow
If we never know
Exactly what we need
To be happy
Cuz everytime you walk in that day
All that your energy is telling me is

Maybe there’s someone else
Maybe  you’re not happy here
I don’t need a maybe
I want to be…sure

Can we live on…maybe?
Can we work it out on…maybe?
Can we ever get past…maybe?
When you know we need to be sure

Will we grow on…maybe?
Will we ever know on…maybe?
Sleeping at night on…maybe?
It’s time for us to be sure

I’ve made a career out of dating and dealing with emotionally ambivalent men, so this song right here?  Speaks to where I am.

40.  Unmarried.  No children.

I can’t do maybes.

I’m sure how I feel about you.

I’m sure that I can be faithful to you.

I’m positively willing to address my issues.

I’m working with earnest to be my better self.

Maybe is not in my vocabulary.

I need you to be absolutely sure, because I’m not willing to go a step forward with you…on a maybe.

And I respect that if that’s where YOU are.

Just realize that I’m not at the same place.

And that’s ok too.

Let’s respect one another enough to make that decision a priority.
