Heathcliff’s work ethic has been noticed by a client who has connections to City Hall! I thought politics would suit him very well indeed, so I let him switch jobs. He also gets a promotion, which is pretty sweet!

Heathcliff doesn’t start work for a while and he had a whim to play a video game with Svetlana, so I got the both of them to pick out some race cars and start up their engines!
(Cool Easter egg alert: I only just realised EA inserted footage of their other game, Burnout Paradise, in The Sims 3 here!)

Svetlana got rammed off the side of the road by the game’s AI, so she’s trash-talking that driver while valiantly steering her car back on course.

After a few rounds, Heathcliff wondered if the in-game people living in those cities would ever get any sleep from all that frequent racing. He’s glad that Sunset Valley is relatively quiet in comparison, and that they don’t belong to that other game.
I think Svetlana secretly disagrees, she wants to trounce that driver who did a number on her car!

Time to let go and unwind with some cuddles instead.

Heathcliff also got a call on his phone to participate in a cooking challenge!

The judges were from Hogan’s Deep Fried Diner, so he decided to make something to fit their menu – hot dogs!

Svetlana is more than happy to be his taste tester as he experimented with different sausage meats, bread buns, and sauces. Yum!

Heathcliff, it’s already dinner time! The hot dog fumes won’t fuel you up, you have to eat something too!

At long last, the day of the competition arrived, and Heathcliff brought the best hot dog he made up to the judges for tasting. For all his grilling efforts, he ended up winning first place! Well done, Heathcliff!

Back at home, Topher’s attending his daily speaking lessons with grandma.
Svetlana: “Topher, can you say ‘prize money’? That’s right, Grandpa won some!”
Topher: “Pwize homey. Aboo.”

Mama Becky took over after watching the latest episode of her soap opera.

Becky: “Topher, can you say ’emerald ring’?
Topher: “Emwald. Bing. Goobee.”

I’m not sure if it’s because the ladies used such hard vocabulary for a toddler to begin with, but Topher ended up learning the basics of speaking really quickly too!

To celebrate, both mother and son played together before Topher’s naptime.

After putting Topher down in his crib for a short snooze, Becky answered the door. As it turns out, Theodore had not only dyed his hair, but he’d suddenly joined the military career. I really hope things at home aren’t so bad that he decided to join the army instead…
(What happened to you, Theo? What about university and your computer skills? I don’t think you have a Fitness point to your name when we were last at your household!)

I wasn’t over his drastic change yet, and then the game hit me with another curveball:

And it seems the attraction is mutual. I mean, this could really be a scenario taken straight out of one of Becky’s romance novels, ie. having a buff army guy in uniform suddenly show up to talk to you, right?

Hoo boy. I don’t think Lily’s going to be happy when she finds out.
