This morning the lovely folks of Hidden Park uploaded a batch of photos from the third week of their event in Taman Tanjung last September, including some photos of us opening the Music for Parks.

A couple of weeks ago they also sent us some very nice pictures via e-mail, so we put them here as well.

Park Jammers at Hidden Park

We have been wanting to play at Hidden Park since we found out about them around a year ago, so we were really happy when we were contacted by them that we could play at their latest programme.

It was early September when Irawan contacted me that Hidden Park was going to make another event, and this time it was at Taman Tanjung, a park not so far away from where we live. We contacted the committee soon afterwards, asking whether Park Jammers could participate in one of their exciting programmes. Unfortunately, the slots for the music performance on the third week of September had already been full, but they encouraged us to come and jam anyway.

However, on the second week of September they contacted us again to tell that one of the performers couldn’t make it, so they offered us to take over. Surely we were happy to accept it, and we had around a week to rehearse for a 20-minute-performance.

It was a sunny Sunday when we arrived at the park, and we had a quick rehearsal before performing at two. There were five of us – Luthfi and Ganesha on guitars and vocals, Irawan on melodica and percussion, Oxalis on melodica and glockenspiel, and Anzarra on keyboard. And surely we had our fabulous photographer/videographer Tirta to document our performance 🙂

During our performance, the cool sketchers from @sketsaku made this super-awesome sketch of us. Later that afternoon Oxalis also made her own interpretation of Park Jammers through her simple sketch.

Anyway, our performance was a part of Music for Parks, where people can enjoy music performances under the trees in a nice Sunday afternoon. We opened the event basically, and after our performance there were a series of nice performances from Starway, Drew, Abenk Alter, Monita Tahalea & Bayu Risa, Twentyfirst Night, Tika and the Dissidents, Matthew Sayerz, and RAN.

We had a great time playing at Hidden Park – I guess this was the perfect place for us Park Jammers, and we really hope to be able to play at the next Hidden Park events!

Park Jammers to play at Hidden Park

Park Jammers are going to play at Melodies for Parks, a cozy afternoon music event in conjunction with Hidden Park at Taman Tanjung, South Jakarta.

We will open the event at 14.00, afterwards there will be some awesome Indonesian bands to accompany your sunny Sunday afternoon while having a cone of chocolate ice cream.

Hidden Park is a movement to revive public parks in Jakarta, and Taman Tanjung is their third park. Every weekend this September they accommodate various activities in the park, from yoga to recycling to urban farming to sketching to music. Here is the full schedule for this weekend:

Taman Tanjung is a nice little park in the corner of Jalan Raya Pasar Minggu and Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta. It is still not mapped on Google Maps yet, so we hope this map from the organiser can help you to get you there. We advise you to take public transport or bicycle. To get there by train you can take the Commuter Line to Bogor or Depok and stop at Tanjung Barat station, and walk for about 300 metres. You can also take the small public vehicle (angkot) Mikrolet M17 (Pasar Minggu-Lenteng Agung) or KWK S15 (Pasar Minggu-Pasar Rebo).
