Keeps harvesting

It's the time of year when you can keep harvesting all that lovely veg,but the downside the plot starts to look empty. The greenhouse is still producing plenty of toms/cucumbers/peppers/chilli's,the peppers and cucumbers + toms get eaten straight away but chilli's get frozen. The better half doesn't like chilli's so I freeze them and use in stir fry's and curries, but I don't tell the better half that I've slip the chilli's in the meals. 

I've still got two rows of 2nd early's to dig up and that leaves me 4 main crop,still have plenty off swede/marrows/sweetcorn/beetroot pick up and the odd give away.

First squash and funny beets.

Whilst doing a bit of watering I noticed my first squash of the year,don't know if it will get any bigger. I've only planted them in large pots and feed them 2/3 times a week,if I do them next year I will plant them outside or plant in the boarders within the greenhouse. Some of my beetroot don't look very well,only one sort has started to lose its shape a little.

I made some beetroot tonight I used 3 beers and malt vinegar,I made 3 jars but 2 of them don't seem that good so need to get some more.

Trying to get on with it.

Been to the allotment over the weekend in between the rain and sunshine, managed to water inside the greenhouse and trim the tomatoe plants a little and report some peppers.I had some flowers growing in the greenhouse and now transferred to a larger pot,got rid of some seed that have not grown at all.I have put some washing line along some poles that are holding the netting above the cabbages,also did a bit of weeding still have a lot to weed due to the rain we have had.So i need to get to the plot this week and sort the rest of the weeds out and cover the rest of the cabbages over with better netting,i have been taking home some lettuce over the last few weeks and a cucumber.Also given some lettuce away because they have all come at once and i wont have the time to eat all of them,courgettes have starting to grow which i will start to harvest soon.Also had my first try at cooking and eating my first batch beetroot very nice.

Been Busy

Not blogged for a little while been a little busy at work but i have been to the allotment a few times, but not had chance to update my blog. I have sowed a few more things this week some in the greenhouse and some straight into the ground, sowed cauliflower into pots and swede straight into the ground. I have planted my 2nd row of Beetroot which i have been growing in trays, the sweetcorn has started to come through which i sowed a couple of weeks ago. I have done some more weeding and spread out the lettuce which is growing nicely, also planted some more lettuce and radish and put out my Dwarf French beans  i know its early but they getting to big for the greenhouse.
Also planted Red Cabbage - Sprouts - Turnips in the ground which have been growing in the greenhouse not to sure if i have enough of them growing.

Had a great day on the plot.

Been to the allotment today for just over 11 hours and its passed so quickly I know I have chatted for a little while but got a little bit done, even though my neck and arms ache from the sunburn. I managed to get some seeds planted in the soil and some more seed sowed in the green house, also re-potted some of the seed into larger tubs but didn’t go very well. I have planted my 2^nd early spuds which are Maris peer which just leaves me my main ones left to plant, also planted 2 types of radish some old ones from last year called French Breakfast 3 and radish mixed.

I put 4 rows of lettuce in as well 1 row of iceberg which was on a pre seeded tape,2 rows of all the year round lettuce one old stock and one new stock also 1 row of little gem which was old stock will see if I have any luck. I planted some more Dwarf French beans and some more beetroot which I have already growing in the greenhouse. Going to try and get the allotment next week and get the rest of my potatoes in and some more seeds, also try and sort the shed out and get it into some order.
