4.5 – So long, farewell

My poor Pollards really are on the back burner. I’ve lost interest in them, in part because the save is still throwing back weird glitches at me, and I think I’ve done enough to salvage it already. I’m ending it with Marion’s 18th birthday.

I’ll save them to the bin and perhaps continue as a random legacy, or just let Marion rest for a bit. I like her face, so I’d like to use her for something. Maybe even – gasp! – write a story. But I’m not making any promises.

Screenshot-545

Here she is with her bluebird.

Screenshot-115Remember Raven Black, the vampire Marion tried to woo? She was too filthy for him to take an interest last time we saw them together.

Screenshot-116

“I’ve taken a bath today, you can kiss me now!”

Screenshot-118

Done and done.

Screenshot-120

“So are you a nice young man, besides being a blood sucking freak?”

“Of course, Mr. Pollard! And I mostly eat plasma fruit. Mostly.”

Screenshot-396

asronaut

Someone just maxed their career!

Screenshot-546

Portrait of Marion.

Screenshot-548

Screenshot-549

Seems to be missing a part. Maybe we’ll give it another go.

Screenshot-551

Screenshot-552

Gnome fest.

Screenshot-553

The witch gnome has an oddly sweet little face.

Screenshot-555

Am I the only one who lets their sims read the paper? Not daily but often enough. I just like how it looks.

Screenshot-557

Moonlighting is supremely dull.

Screenshot-558

I don’t blame the bartender for giving up her place behind the counter so easily.

Screenshot-562

Marion & her bestie.

Screenshot-571

Spring festival moves

Screenshot-572

I saw this sweet cat by chance, she’ll be the mother of Lirim’s kittens for sure. Lirim means Freedom in Albanian. Random, I know.

Screenshot-575

With her sibling.

Screenshot-576

Riley is being really annoying and picks fights with everyone (inappropriate trait).

Screenshot-578

Oops-a-daisy

Screenshot-579

She looks like she has a bad tooth ache.

Screenshot-581

Amazing dress sense, as per sim usual.

Screenshot-582

For a babysitter, you have a cute face.

Screenshot-583

Ghostface killah

Screenshot-586

Self-portrait is nearly done.

Screenshot-592

Hi Fred!

lirimslitter

yep yep

Screenshot-121

Time to grow up!

Screenshot-122

Cake time!

Screenshot-123

Screenshot-125

Should be no big surprises here.

Screenshot-127

Nope, still gorgeous.

And that’s it for Pollard. It was a lot of fun until I had to leave Rugged Harbour.

Screenshot-355

Oh, and this is Lirim’s son, Bondi. After the beach. Again, random.

Thanks for following Pollard! I’m still active on Absolutely Cuckoo. See you there. 🙂

4.4 – Cheers!

Aherm, sorry for disappearing on Pollard for a month and a half, buuuut..

Actually I have no excuse.

fb516ecdcb5f2fd121b4ea4d1a9a5ca6

Last time, the only generation 5 baby was born, Marion, and since this legacy would be fast paced – if I remembered to update – she also grew into a child. Mischa died for the umpteenth time but this time he stayed dead. He fulfilled his generation’s goal of bringing electricity and indoor plumbing to the household. He did not succeed in mastering potions however, because he was always singed. Always.

Stephanie didn’t have to max out her career as a musician (symphonic) but she did anyway. I’m not counting points for skills, just generation goals. And maybe gnomes. Because gnomes count.

They just do.

Screenshot-337

Now where were we? Right, Funny Face found a friend.

Screenshot-338

And Wolf found a relative.

Screenshot-608

Hartigan is working on his goal of maxing mixology, and earning the ability to moonlight at all bars, clubs, and lounges, as well as level 10 of nectar making.

There’s just a technicality left from that goal since he maxed nectar a while ago, he’s sooo close to maxing mixology, and should be able to moonlight everywhere now, I just don’t have the shot from the lounge yet. In all honesty I don’t have all the bar types in Eltham’s Drift because it’s a small town and all those lots slow down the game, so there’s a dive bar, a local hangout, a poolside club and a vampire lounge. In any case, the lounge is supposed to have the pickiest staff, so if he can moonlight there, I win by default.

Screenshot-626

Awkwarrrrd.

Screenshot-627

Not the hippest crowd, but I can’t help loving scientist man, having fun all on his own in a corner. Also, this club is so bright it looks like a hotel lobby.

Screenshot-611

Stephanie bragging about her mad conductor skillz.

Screenshot-612

Aw noes! Stephanie goes.

Screenshot-615

She had a long, good life – extra long because my save failed so many times.

Screenshot-617

And poof, a new witch gnome emerged from thin air, just like that! I never got one before so I was a teensy little bit excited, even if Stephanie died. Rest in peace.

Screenshot-620

Marion rescued a bluebird from one of the cats.

Screenshot-621

Awkwardest shoulder hug everrr.

Screenshot-624

Newspaper – who has the time for it?

Screenshot-625

I think they bought Napoleon gnome from the consignment shop.

Screenshot-628

One of the club guests went into labour, so Hartigan took her to the hospital. She drove her own taxi because why not.

Screenshot-629

“Take” to the hospital means following stranger around like a little puppy.

Screenshot-631

She managed very well on her own, thank you very much, and Hartigan got the “it’s a baby!” moodlet. I don’t recall the gender.

Screenshot-633

Wifey Riley is aiming for life in outer space. She really doesn’t deal with people well.

Screenshot-634

Funny Face

Screenshot-635

Some party or other. Riley needed to invite her boss over for.. tofu dogs.

Screenshot-640

Hartigan hits middle age. And why yes, Riley is inappropriate.. their relationship isn’t all that great actually. If I don’t watch her like a hawk she picks fights with everyone.

Screenshot-645

And Marion becomes a teen.

Screenshot-646

Still not sure what her traits are, sorry. I’ll get back to you. Genius and something.

Screenshot-649

As mentioned earlier, she looks just like Riley but with Stephanie’s hair and dad’s pointy ears. Also dad’s eye colour.

Screenshot-651

Romance with a babysitter isn’t happening, however.

Screenshot-656

And Riley is middle-aged as well.

Screenshot-658

YAY FOR FOURTIES!

Screenshot-663

This proposal is seriously overdue. He proposed so many times and the save crashed and crashed, and then I forgot that they STILL aren’t married yet.

Spoiler: she said yes. Again. But they still aren’t married. Just engaged.

Screenshot-3

So this is Fred. I’m so proud I remember which cat is which.

Screenshot-5

So this is the…eer.. Squadron Leader Uniform. I had to look that up. It’s level 8.

Screenshot-6

They key to successful army life is a really comfortable bed. And a hot tub.

Screenshot-8

Look at Marion! Isn’t she precious?

Screenshot-9

I may have to spam a little bit.

Screenshot-10

For an only offspring I think I hit the genetic jackpot.

Screenshot-11

She’s even prettier than Riley.

Screenshot-12

“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?”

Oh nothing much.

Screenshot-15

general cat spam

Screenshot-16

because snout in snow

Screenshot-17

raccoon is stealthy

Screenshot-18

It’s Christmas time in Eltham’s drift, and Hartigan invited the alien he met in the garden, LOL. I never thought he’d come.

Screenshot-19

Not sure why everyone looks toward the door in shock and befuddlement.

Screenshot-20

All these face one people, where do they come from?

Screenshot-23

I’m guessing Riley’s co-workers.

Screenshot-24

LOL that alien though

Screenshot-25

I don’t know why I think that’s so funny, but I somehow never could picture an alien sitting cross-legged on the floor.

Screenshot-29

Someone needs a drink. Christmas parties tend to do that to you.

christmas46000

LTW done & done! Maxed mixology & owns a bar (The Chalk and Gown)

Screenshot-30

Marion will have to choose between criminal & law enforcement/P.I career and whatever she chooses, logic is a good skill to have.

Screenshot-31

So this is where Hartigan fulfills the goal of the generation.

Screenshot-33

Impressed yet? (Btw this looks like a gay old school lounge, hence dancing men in the background)

Screenshot-36

Well how about now?

fhr7jqe

Nailed it.

Screenshot-37

Still no burglar alarm *sigh*

Screenshot-38

So stealthy, sneaking around with a huge umbrella in bright porch light. Because why use the back door, where it’s dark?

Screenshot-39

DON’T TOUCH MY GNOME HEADSTONE! Don’t you dare!

Screenshot-40

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

Screenshot-41

CAT! ATTACK HER! CLAW HER EYES OUT!

Screenshot-42

The time machine? Really? Mischa worked hard on that.

Screenshot-43

YEP.

Screenshot-47

And then the cop came ( by phone call), and wasn’t completely useless!  Le gasp!

Screenshot-48

tjuvgods

tumblr_n252ltaxu91re3x32o1_250

Screenshot-52

Marion tries to persuade hot vampire guy to go with her to the prom, but she’s too late and mid flirting he’s off to the prom by himself.

Screenshot-53

Well, at least he was still single afterwards.

menmarion

Marion! Really? This might decide your future path.

Screenshot-54

Baked angel food cake, don’t you just love your guests when they bring that?

Screenshot-56

Wolf passed on, but he lived two full lives, if you remember, he was given an elixir of youth at one point. So he was at least 70 years old combined – he was born while Thyra was still alive.

screenshot-63

Here he is as a kitten (lying down) with his sister Molly & mum Maggie. RIP

Screenshot-57

Pregnant woman who is no longer pregnant threw a party, and Hartigan was obviously invited since he tagged along to the hospital.

Screenshot-58

So this is the object of Marion’s affections, Raven Black. YES GAME CHOSE THAT NAME, and it’s hilarious. He has terrible vampire clothes, just terrible.

Screenshot-59

And he rejects my baby!! Wait till I get my hands around his sorry little neck.

Screenshot-60

OK so she’s surrounded by green cloud, so what? Stink is only skin deep!

Screenshot-61

She tries all her tricks but what she really needs is a bath.

Screenshot-62

Prom photo before I forget.

Screenshot-64

Fred is old. 😦

Screenshot-65

And we have an abundance of gnomes. The latest addition is the troglodyte gnome.

Screenshot-67

Marion has a BFF, Selina. 🙂

selina

I don’t know when that happened exactly.

ravenblack

*giggle* RAVEN BLACK! Can’t get over it.

parttimejobpromotioon

She also got a job and a promotion. Good girl.

So I guess now they can get cellphones & a TV! Also a video camera, but I’ve never used those, and workout machines and arcade games which I will probably not use either.

Generation 4 is ALL DONE!

4.3 – Merry … something

Oh hai! I hope you had/are still celebrating a merry Christmas, a joyous winter solstice or just general December glee.

Now where were we.

Screenshot-22

Hartigan, Riley, Mischa, Stephanie, Wolf, Fred & Funny Face moved to Eltham’s Drift, built themselves a lovely boxy house and tried to live a happy, glitch free pixel life there.

Screenshot-24

Hartigan experienced the local night life, from behind the bar.

Screenshot-26

Riley took to drinking while pregnant. Let’s hope it’s a Virgin Mary.

Screenshot-28

The emo gnome was emo.

Screenshot-29

And Fred & Funny Face had a kitten although they’re cousins, because they weren’t cousins anymore after the move. I don’t remember what I called him unfortunately.

Screenshot-30

HALLO.

Screenshot-37

Pixel cats, better than hairy cats.

Screenshot-38

Hartigan finished a really bad portrait of his mother.

Screenshot-39

Sadly this will just have to do. It’s her birthday next.

Screenshot-40

She’s close to fulfilling her LTW of becoming a hit movie composer.

Screenshot-41

Yay aging! It’s great! You should try it!

Screenshot-48

The general lack of enthusiasm. Aw, Stephanie!

Screenshot-49

Generation 5 was born for the umpteenth time.

Screenshot-50

It’s a….

GIRL! That’s right, the first of her gender type since my founder Thyra. She’s called Marion, like my aunt, RIP. My aunt Marion looked like Joan Crawford and she was a tough cookie.

joan1

Marion is possibly going to become a private eye. Not sure yet.

Screenshot-51

Fred & Fred Jr.

Screenshot-54

Food, yes food is good.

Screenshot-55

It’s an overcast life, it’s an overcast life for us

Screenshot-58

Instead of sunshine we get fog..

Screenshot-59

It’s an overcast life

Screenshot-61

thank you, thank you kindly

Screenshot-63

Keep on Raining!

Screenshot-64

Grandpa Holds the Baby

Screenshot-223

Fred Jr is about to grow up.

Screenshot-227

Any second now.

Screenshot-228

tadaa

Screenshot-231

Wish he had Funny Face’s markings but oh well.

Screenshot-229

Screenshot-224

All of the adults share the same bedroom now.

Screenshot-225

Fruit for nectar.

Screenshot-232

yes very cute

Screenshot-233

Now why would I take a picture of a cat vomiting? Because I paid good LTH points for Never Nauseous! That’s why.

Screenshot-234

Much good it did.

Screenshot-235

Riley wants to become an astronaut. We’ll see if she manages.

Screenshot-236

Toddler time! Flame fruit makes the best nursery lamp

Screenshot-237

sparklessss

Screenshot-239

And she has black hair like Stephanie! Cool.

Screenshot-240

And elf ears like everyone in the family! (still not over the elf ears, so it’s all good)

Screenshot-244

Other than that, I think she’s mini Riley!

Screenshot-245

mmm formula, the breakfast of champions

Screenshot-248

The painting above the mantel piece is actually one of my mum’s. I think I made four different ones. I’d share them, but I suspect no one would be interested.

Screenshot-249

Screenshot-250

Screenshot-259

Screenshot-260

Screenshot-262

Srsly, I can’t caption poop.

Screenshot-263

Screenshot-264

Screenshot-266

It’s a nice touch that the invented toys make a noise.

Screenshot-267

yap yap

Screenshot-268

Yeah I have nothing.

goriley

Go Riley!

haha

Hehe, “totally safe and harmless institute of inventive creation and learning”

Screenshot-270

Stephanie retired once she reached level 10.

Screenshot-272

I think Hartigan pretty much has mastered all the bars, but I have yet to take a shot of them all.

Screenshot-275

“Say granny!”

“Cookie!”

Screenshot-276

Still working on mastering all the concoctions.

Screenshot-281

“Say granny!”

“Bye daddy!”

Screenshot-284

Stephanie has been wishing for a hot tub since forever, so I finally gave them one. Now she’s in it all the time.

Screenshot-286

Screenshot-287

Adorbs.

Screenshot-288

Mischa in the underworld.

Screenshot-289

Fred Jr & Wolf

Screenshot-290

Pie of cute

Screenshot-291

I bet you see LOTS of stars in that weather.

Screenshot-293

Hartigan’s drinks are a lot less crappy tasting nowadays.

Screenshot-294

Screenshot-295

Look at him go!

Screenshot-296

Screenshot-297

Woosh!

quintuple

That’s a mouthful.

titanicfloat

That too.

Screenshot-301

The gnomes are so much fun now that they are so many, they always seem to play with each other and spend way less time by the record player.

Screenshot-302

Retired!

Screenshot-303

Now it’s only Riley who’s employed in the family.

Screenshot-305

Aw Stephanie!

Screenshot-307

Fun with puddles!

Screenshot-315

Baby Marion is now little school person Marion.

Screenshot-316

sparrrrrkles

Screenshot-317

Why the sad face?

“You forgot my traits.”

Hm yes, sorry about that. Perceptive and genius perhaps. And one more.

Screenshot-318

Five minutes after, it was time for Mischa to go – again. But this time it’s forever.

Screenshot-320

He never mastered the chemistry set. Oh well.

Screenshot-324

On top of everything, the sink just broke.

Screenshot-325

Bye Mischa! Thanks for bringing us the light bulb, the stove and indoor plumbing!

Screenshot-326

Poor baby, you never got to know your awesome grandfather.

Screenshot-327

Maybe the third trait was lucky? I don’t recall.

Screenshot-328

I’ll get better at taking notes.

Screenshot-329

New baby gnome! I love the baby gnomes. The teens and elders too.

Screenshot-330

Haaaaaaaaaalp!

Screenshot-331

For serious!

Screenshot-332

Party classics – help with homework.

Screenshot-334

Even Funny Face found a new friend.

Screenshot-336

She really is mini Riley! I’m glad she got to keep the ears.

Anyway, that was probably the most boring chapter of anything sim related I’ve ever written, but it’s all I’ve got, so. Better luck in January!

4.2 – Groundhog Day, pt 2

So last time I guided you through all of my fails trying to get Hartigan & Riley married and have a baby. They tried several times and finally moved to Blue Bayou, but I wasn’t really happy with that either.

So I reloaded the buggy Rugged Harbour save to start over from there, and then THIS happened:

Screenshot-382

I was about to let Mischa fix the broken teleporter and I forgot he was already singed from the stupid chemistry set.

Screenshot-383

REALLY?

Screenshot-384

Aw man.

Screenshot-386

Shittiest watcher ever.

Screenshot-388

“Dad!?”

Screenshot-389

OK, OK, I get it, you don’t have to rub it in, I fucked up alright?

Screenshot-391

Now is not the time or place to lament the broken teleportation pad, Hartigan!

Screenshot-394

It was a very fitting death for a scientist, and he was old after all, so I was about to go with it, but then that save crashed.

Next time, I didn’t let him fix the broken teleporter.

Screenshot-397

So he had some fun with sparklers instead, celebrating life!

Screenshot-398

Screenshot-400

Screenshot-401

They fed the omniplant robot toys. Pretty cute.

Screenshot-403

Screenshot-407

I was unsure what to do next. I really wanted to take the chance to start afresh in a world I hadn’t played in before, but I’m picky, and I want something that could last for the rest of the challenge.

Screenshot-414

And I really wanted Rugged Harbour to work out after all.

Screenshot-415

I had to accept that it didn’t. So then I stumbled over the world Forever the Fifties, which I chose not so much for the chance of playing gnubb with Doris Day but more that the houses, the layout and landscape looked really pretty.

Screenshot-425 It had a nice big lot overlooking the sea, so that was a good start. I just plopped down the old house there.

Screenshot-417

I was so happy with how the town looked that I ignored the obvious lag. And I started downsizing again. Away with all metro stations, killed off some townies, deleted all the celebrity ropes and unnecessary cash registers. Away with all tourists, animals and most traffic.

Screenshot-418

So I played for a while in Forever Fifties – they really should have given the town a more blog friendly name, by the by.

Screenshot-421

Why would I even keep the pictures from my failed saves? I guess because of all the hours I put in. I rebuilt several community lots and built some from scratch that weren’t there. Never got around to take screenshots of them, sadly. One was actually really cute. *wistful sigh*

Screenshot-423

I played there for at least a sim week.

Screenshot-424

Screenshot-433

The family tree between Funny Face and Fred was broken when they moved, so I let them have kittens together. They are cousins really.

Screenshot-435

The kittens didn’t survive the next move.

Screenshot-437

Nor did the 7th or so baby.

Screenshot-446

Every single time he was born with the traits Hates the outdoors locked in. Weird.

Screenshot-451

I called him Mandrake, because why not. He grew up looking like the spitting image of Rylie, but with Mischa’s colours and ears.

Screenshot-454

So why couldn’t they make it work in Forever the Fifties?

Screenshot-455

Well… because of this, for one:

notgood

If it were only once, but the errors kept coming, every day, several times every day. Not even glitchy old Rugged Harbour threw that many errors, not even after 4 generations. So that was a bad omen.

Screenshot-461

Stephanie grew old and offered sandwiches to her carpool. *facepalm*

Screenshot-480

Mischa died a second time.

Screenshot-484

Right outside his workplace.

Screenshot-490

But he had a surprise for Grim..

Screenshot-491

I honestly forgot about that death flower he was carrying.

Screenshot-492

deathflower

Funny every time.

Screenshot-495

Screenshot-496

He was pretty stressed out after that, naturally.

Screenshot-502

I really wanted to make this town work. It was really, really pretty.

Screenshot-503

Screenshot-506

Mandrake grew up there, even.

Screenshot-509

But what’s one sim week, after all. The town was laggy as molasses. I had to move. Again.

Screenshot-522

My trusted old friend Eltham’s Drift by neuroticrobotic, I have played so many saves in this town, it never lags and it’s just all around a beautiful place with a few premades (which I always keep, I’m more attached to them than some players are to the Goths probably).

Screenshot-523

I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to play in something new and shiny (or old but untried) but I had zero energy to encounter lag again, so I chose Eltham’s Drift because I know it works and it has a lot by the sea.

Screenshot-526

Screenshot-532

Still no bathroom in the house.

Screenshot-533

And then.. Mandrake got buggy. It sucked, but I had to make Hartigan and Rylie have their baby an umpteenth time.

Screenshot-534

So much poop!

Screenshot-535

Bye, pretty face.

Screenshot-536

I had to move them to Eltham’s drift AGAIN, this time without a kid and earlier in the save AGAIN. Also without the old house, because I’m afraid it was buggy too, and it didn’t really fit the new lot either.

Screenshot

So I built them this beaut of a giant cottage. Yes, I’m a great builder I know. *takes a bow* At least it’s decent on the inside.

Screenshot-2

Gnomes ready to invade the new garden.

Screenshot-3-(2)

New house has four rooms, as per the rules, one for each member of the family. Hartigan, Riley, Mischa, Stephanie. Cats: Wolf, Funny Face & Fred.

Screenshot-3

Screenshot-4

I didn’t bring the kittens, or rather, they weren’t born yet.

Screenshot-5-(2)

You can start paying attention now, because it was the last move, WOOHOOO! Fourth time is the charm!

Screenshot-6

Love the ninja music box. There should be a pirate as well.

Screenshot-7-(2)

Stephanie: “It’s nice to be young again, at least.”

Screenshot-9

Mischa is done with his generation goals, except discovering all the potions, which I’m working on, but since it almost always ends with an explosion and being singed for 24 hours or so, I’m not sure he has the time for it.

Screenshot-10-(2)

Rylie is doing pretty good in her military career, and I guess Hartigan is about level 6-7 mixology and nectarology respectively.

Screenshot-11-(2)

Stephanie is closing in on promotion to Conductor. Again…

Screenshot-11

With only four rooms I didn’t want to use one of them as a bathroom only. Besides, I’m used to having a tub in the bedroom now.

Screenshot-12

Screenshot-13-(2)

The only thing I’m not crazy about in Eltham’s Drift is the custom weather. The sky is almost always overcast, which in combination with actual Seasons weather sometimes makes it dark as night in the daytime.

Screenshot-13

It hurt a bit to leave all those money trees and omni plants behind, but planting a new garden is fine, it’s not like they need the money.

Screenshot-15

Eltham’s Drift has four bars, I think. One lounge, one club, a dive bar and a hangout. No sports bars, thank cod. I don’t like sports bars.

Screenshot-17-(2)

EA really could have made good nectar recipes easier to discover. I use a cheat list all the time, because making “terrible” nectar with premium ingredients gets old fast. I’m not very good at maths, admittedly, but with 16 possible ingredients or so, 10 fruits to add and 50/50 almost never resulting in a good nectar, it’s just too tedious to try all the combinations. A very exact number, I know, “too tedious”. 😛

Screenshot-17

Screenshot-19

FINALLY A NON-GLITCHY PREGNANCY.

Still not married though, so that kid will be born with the surname Gross. Poor child.

Stay tuned! Next chapter will be an actual chapter where time isn’t all wibbly wobbly.

4.1- Groundhog Day

Hola! It’s been almost a month, and why is that? My save got corrupted, like really really corrupted, and I’m not sure exactly when it happened. Errors where flying from everywhere, mainly Riley but she wasn’t the only one. Sims disappeared from the portrait panel, sims couldn’t be selected, backpacks stayed the same when changing selected sim etc etc. The worst error was sims completely disappearing – no reset sim/lot/town or reload from a previous point in game did any good. Rylie couldn’t have a baby in town no matter what I did. I had to move the Pollards to another town THREE TIMES, which saved the game (I think – still, errors can pop up later on, who knows). It’s been a PAIN, let me tell you. I was very close to just throwing in the towel.

Screenshot-10

But we start a long time ago when Hartigan was still a teen. Not a long time ago for you, but for me that’s ages ago.

Screenshot-11

He had been to prom with Riley and she asked him to go steady, to which he replied YES.

Screenshot-12

Enjoy these last pictures of Rugged Harbour.

Screenshot-14

Biking on ice is dangerous, Hartigan!

Screenshot-15

Random shot of offending igloo. It’s possible that the igloo somehow borked Riley’s future pregnancy, but it could have been just Riley herself, some bad CC, the whole town somehow or woohooer mod – who knows? Errortrap showed errors from the igloo & woohooer mod, but I haven’t had that problem before with woohooer.

Screenshot-17

Funny Face!

Screenshot-18

Goodbye beautiful lighthouse. 😦

Screenshot-33

The Feltons had a party – they are Dalia’s relatives – , so they went there to have his birthday (better lighting than in the park, for one).

Screenshot-37

I think we’ll lose the Miami Vice outfit.

Screenshot-40

But he can keep the hair.

Screenshot-45

Graduation day!

Screenshot-46

There you go.

Screenshot-47

Doing it proper.

Screenshot-50

Toss!

valedictorian

We’ll see about that. I hope so!

Screenshot-54

Screenshot-56

Rylie’s sister Sheila and an unknown vampire toddler. That’s the last you’ll see of them, unfortunately. But I get ahead of myself.

Screenshot-58

I wanted to get right on with the proposal, but Riley had a job in the military already, so she was at work.

Screenshot-59

Hartigan is supposed to make wine and moonlight as a mixologist, so he hasn’t got much to do in the mornings.

Screenshot-61

The neighbours were home at least.

Screenshot-63

And Mischa somehow mastered skating when I wasn’t looking.

Screenshot-65

Behold, the ice prince/ scientist!

Screenshot-66

spam because lol

Screenshot-67

I must have never paid attention when he was skating at festivals.

Screenshot-68

I let him continue until he was really cold.

Screenshot-69

And it was getting dark.

Screenshot-70

Hartigan finally managed to ask Riley out without being told NO. She did that like three times – all the women in this challenge have been really hard to woo.

Screenshot-71

It still didn’t end well for Hartigan.

I swear this happens every time a Pollard boy tries to ask a girl out. At least Stephanie was polite enough to call the date “OK” when Mischa took her out. Riley, not so much. She’s actually kind of terrifying.

Screenshot-74

Anyway, mama needs a drink.

Screenshot-7-(2)

And then Hartigan proposed and was turned down..

Screenshot-9-(2)

He swallowed his pride and kisses were had and given.

Screenshot-11-(2)

And they moved their business to a melting igloo.

Screenshot-13-(2)

Screenshot-14-(2)

Stephanie has some really weird reactions to stargazing IMHO.

Screenshot-15-(2)

Maybe she saw a UFO.

Screenshot-16-(2)

Babies were made, and after that everything went downhill. Especially for Riley who HATES BABIES. Yikes.

Screenshot-19-(2)

Mischa is getting old.

Screenshot-21-(2)

A little sad, but he has done his part in this challenge so it’s OK.

Screenshot-24-(2)

I never gave him a new outfit because he seemed comfortable in this one.

Screenshot-26-(2)

Find the parrot.

Screenshot-27-(2)

weeeee look at her go

Screenshot-30-(2)

Minutes before Rylie calls this date a suck fest. Again. Well, Hartigan knocked her up despite the fact that she HATES BABIES, so.. I guess I can understand her point of view.

Screenshot-31-(2)

Screenshot-32-(2)

Mischa is a mad scientist now. He’s not that mad, though.

Screenshot-34-(2)

Stephanie chilling somewhere where the teleporter mis-teleported her.

Screenshot-35-(2)

Hartigan tries the proposal thing again. That’s his future mother-in-law though.

Screenshot-36-(2)

So, Hartigan is about to begin a classic bathroom proposal…

Screenshot-38-(2)

And then the CAT DIED!! OMFG!!!

tumblr_m4k65fkug41qbsnap

No kidding, Sansa.

Screenshot-40-(2)

So everyone was plenty sad and the wedding was naturally off. Again.

Screenshot-42-(2)

Rylie popped, still in her army cap.

Screenshot-43-(2)

Hartigan tried to get her in the mood for a wedding again with some sandwiches. Because who doesn’t love sandwiches.

Screenshot-46-(2)

Well, it worked on his mother-in-law!

Euphemia: *eats Hartigan with eyes*

implied_facepalm

Screenshot-49-(2)

All these failed attempts at marriage made Hartigan drink heavily every night. With his shirt off.

Screenshot-50-(2)

And although he mixed himself innumerous drinks, they all tasted terrible. In every single save. Lay off the moonshine, Hartigan!

Then followed an unreal amount of bad proposals, glitched weddings and borked deliveries. UNREAL.

Let me guide you through all of them!

Screenshot-260

Attempt at proposal number 3 (yes he already tried twice, once he was turned down and once there was a cat funeral.)

Screenshot-262

Actually, this time we just added her, so strike that proposal.

Screenshot-266

And right after the baby was born (a boy), it disappeared from the portrait panel. Shortly after, Riley disappeared too.

Screenshot-269

For some reason, i still didn’t quit the save right away, so enjoy Mischa with the “scientific” ray gun.

Screenshot-268

LOL. For those of you who have seen Dart with the ray gun, well Mischa was the “sketch”. I realized in this save how funny it looks.

Screenshot-301

Hartigan continued to drown his sorrows in really bad liquor.

Screenshot-323

And they had an emo gnome. NO WONDER.

I realized Rylie & baby weren’t coming back, and then Mischa and two of the cats disappeared as well. So I quit the save.

Next attempt was the actual third proposal ( I thought maybe it was the “add” that was the problem, and that a real wedding would work):

Screenshot-272

So back rubs were given.

Screenshot-274

Rings handed out.

Screenshot-275

And to speed things up, there was a kitchen wedding.

Screenshot-278

BUT before that ring slipped on Rylie’s finger, she went into labour and goodbye save. AGAIN.

Screenshot-255

We interrupt this misery for a picture of Mischa. Hi Mischa!

“Hi Watcher!”

Fourth attempt! A little earlier in the save this time, so the romance wouldn’t be interrupted by labour.

Screenshot-302

“Hi girlfriend!”

“Hi boyfriend!”

Screenshot-305

“Wanna get married?”

“YAHSSS!”

Screenshot-306

“There you go!”

“OMG THIS IS SO ROMANTIC!”

Well, for now.

Screenshot-307

Why get married right away when you can woohoo first?

Screenshot-308

Super romantic! So much mood!

Screenshot-318

Afterwards, I decide to seal the deal. And in the middle of the kitchen wedding, she’s looking sick.

Screenshot-319

AND RUNS TO THE TOILET

Screenshot-320

So fucking romantic I can’t even.

Screenshot-312

To make things even better, Mischa is there because Euphemia is throwing a party, and apparently he HATES Rylie’s dad.

Screenshot-313

I didn’t even know that. So they have a huge fight while Rylie is puking her guts out.

Screenshot-314

GOOD TIMES

After that, Rylie promptly goes to bed, and the wedding is off. Again.

ATTEMPT NUMBER FIVE, even earlier in the save. Have some pictures of Mischa and a cat to clear your heads.

Screenshot-282

Sonorific stove!

Screenshot-284

Funny Face: not sure if want sonorific bed

Screenshot-285

Sonorific fridge!

Screenshot-287

SO CLOSE YET SO FAR AWAY

Screenshot-288

LIKE THIS WEDDING AND BABY

Screenshot-290

Are you ready for attempt number five? Alright. Here’s Hartigan and Riley on a real date, so no kitchen wedding this time. Classy, no?

clawmachine

burningloins

exquisite

Screenshot-295Screenshot-291

Now can you take your burning loins and GIVE ME YOUR FIRST BORN!

Screenshot-331

Riley popped minutes after. They got married in the corner of the bar.

Screenshot-333

At least it’s not the bathroom, right?

Screenshot-329

AND IT WORKED! Now hopefully the birth will work as well.

Screenshot-340

Hartigan moonlighted (moonlit??) because that’s totally romantic on a wedding night. Rylie is fist dancing with some other army broad.

Screenshot-344

Eh.. what is this, show and tell night?

conversationstarter

Great conversation starter, Hemlock Sr. A little desperate perhaps.

Screenshot-341

Rylie wants to meet a vampire, so off she goes.

Screenshot-342

Turns out it’s her great-grandmother.

ryliesgreatgrandmother

And much belly rubbing was had.

Awesomesauce. Can I have my legacy now please. Avec bébé. That’s French for WITH BABY.

What happens then? That save crashed.Yes, it did.

I removed all the newest CC I had, hoping that it would help. Either way, I had to move to another town. There was absolutely no way that wedding & baby would be had glitch free. I also tried a save where Rylie didn’t move in before the baby, but afterwards – didn’t work either. AND I tried a super early save where Rylie wasn’t pregnant from the igloo at all but got pregnant in a bed later – and that didn’t help.

Screenshot-348

Pretty much the last picture I took in Rugged Harbour. I’m going to miss that lighthouse so bad.

Screenshot-346

At this point, I don’t even know where this was taken.

Screenshot-351

They moved to Blue Bayou. To be able to move, I had to either wait for Rylie to deliver with errors in Rugged Harbour (for the umpteenth time) or cancel her pregnancy and try again when they got there. I cancelled.

Screenshot-352

I chose Blue Bayou because Eight Cicadas mentioned it was really pretty, like a smaller Twinbrook. I always liked Twinbrook the most out of all the EA worlds. And Blue Bayou was really pretty, as advertised, and didn’t throw a lot of errors back at me either. Unfortunately, as soon as I moved the Pollards there I noticed some lag. Even with very few people in it.

I really, really need my towns to be lag free when I move there. Some lag after a few generations is to be expected, but right away? I was pretty crushed.

Screenshot-353

Which is probably why most of the screenshots I took in Blue Bayou are from explosions.

Screenshot-354

I needed to blow shit up.

Screenshot-355

I began trying to size down the town to minimize lag, and spent QUITE a few hours building a custom festival grounds.

Screenshot-361

That still didn’t help with the bar interiors in town, which I didn’t really like, and Hartigan will be spending a lot of time in bars.

I could decorate every single building myself, but it would take weeks.

Screenshot-360

Then came the baby, and it was a girl. Or a boy. I don’t remember. I think Rylie gave birth about six times to the same baby.

Screenshot-363

Nowadays, Hartigan seldom puts down his glass.

Screenshot-364

“I want to live with a view over the sea! All of my family have lived by the sea! Half of our garden is a swamp!”

Screenshot-365

“But the houses are so pretty, and there’s magnolias everywhere, and Spanish moss and PRETTY!”

“Our cottage looks really out of place here, and MUD!”

Screenshot-366

I decorated like six starters, moved in other families and everything. 😦 But it just didn’t feel quite right. Maybe for some other save.

So I loaded up the cursed Rugged Harbour save again, determined to find the right town for them to move to.

TO BE CONTINUED

(If you’re completely confused by all of this, I don’t blame you. I am too. What sticks is that Hartigan and Riley are living together, but they are in fact NOT married yet. And they don’t have a baby either.)
