LeeAnna  and the ladies are discussing   do you like calendars either desk or wall real calendars? I love calendars!  Hubby gets me a weekly planner every year for Christmas.  I know I could keep track on my phone, but I don't.  I also love pretty wall calendars and I always save them to use in collage.  I  enjoy the page-a-day calendars as they are good for collage as well.  I am not a minimalist! I like snow, sometimes.  This year we have had so much!  This horrible photo of my deck shows how much we have right now.  A couple of weeks ago we had the same amount.  We had a thaw and it all melted.  So this is the second time this year we have had this much snow!  Sorry about the photo, I didn't want to go outside to take it! I like the beauty of snow.  It is covering my world with a thick, fluffy blanket.  Nature is telling us it is time to rest.  Stay cosy!

Work in Progress Wednesday

These are some of the tassels that I have been creating.  They are a lot of fun to make!  I am just noticing that the ball on the top of the blue tassel in the middle is a bit big.  I wonder why I didn't notice that when I was making it!

Mandala Monday

Image
This is the last mandala in my watercolour journal.  I originally thought I would only use watercolours for each mandala.  That, of course, changed as I was working on this over the years.  Yes, I started this journal a few years ago!  How time flies!  How distractions occur!   It is all good, and I will put this journal on the finished shelf.  Time to dig out another journal!  I have a lovely collection of journals just waiting to be used.   I have a spreadsheet of the mandalas that I have created.  Well, just the mandalas that are in strictly mandala journals and mandala-altered books.  At this point, there are 624.  That isn't counting the 400 I created for an installation.  Nor is it counting the mandalas in just regular journals.  It is a lot of mandalas!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
It was a PD day on Friday, so I had the pleasure of hosting my granddaughter for the day.  We had a lovely time together as we always do.  She wanted to learn how to stitch a fish.  She really wants to do a wolf but I thought we should start with something simpler.  She was picked up earlier than expected so I didn't manage to get a photo of her work.   This is my fish.  There is still more stitching to do.  I am thinking I will add some layered, fluffy goodness to the tail. LeeAnna  and the group are discussing have we ever lived anywhere else? I have lived my whole life in Kitchener-Waterloo.  They are the twin cities and it is hard to see where one stops and another starts.  I have lived in both cities but mainly in Kitchener.  I love this area.  I don't expect to ever move. I like the simple things.  I am so grateful for bathtubs and hot water!  I love a good soak!   I love art time with family and friends.  I hosted a lovely day with six family members on Saturday.  We made art, shared some food and laughter.  It was a good day! I love that we had a January thaw that melted a LOT of our snow.  Yay, I didn't have to shovel the stairs off our deck.  The thaw came just in time as we are getting a heavy snow today.  The schools are closed.  There is a new thick blanket of snow out there!  It makes everything look pretty again.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
A tiny bit of progress was made on this butterfly.  I have been wanting to try the Over Under Cross stitch.  My friend Queenie has great instructions for it here  https://queeniepatch.blogspot.com/2026/01/sunday-stitch-school-lesson-350-over.html     It is quite a pretty stitch and easy to do! It is a bit hard to see.  Each wing has it in the lower part.  I probably should have used a colour of thread that stands out better.  Or put it in a different location with better contrast.  Oh well!

Mandala Monday

I have posted a similar mandala previously.  This one I created on Saturday while hosting some family for an art afternoon.  We all created beautiful mandalas and had a good time.
