Sight

His mood shifted

Silent tears threatened to change his intent

His lingering finger on the trigger lifted

A smile, really?

Hesitation was never an option

Would never stop him

Wouldn’t keep him in this treacherous place

With only injustice to face

It was never worth the chase

He desired peace

Not this worldly tease

But a smile?

Was that what peace felt like?

The peace he lost sight of

Was this a response from above

His prayer heard?

His hold slackened

His head throbbed

Feelings of defeat forced him to laugh

Her smile

He needed to find her smile

He stood with a new resolve

His vision blurry with what peace felt like

Except his vision cleared

With a smile

Did You?

We forget

We forget the blessings

The truth

The reasons

Why we live

Why we breathe

The breaths we take for granted

We forget

We forget the mercy

The love

The reasons

Why we break

Why we fall

Into the clutches of Dunya

We forget

We forgot him

The One

The reason

Why we still live

Why we still breathe

Don’t forget, please

Because when there is hardship

There is ease

After pain surely there is relief

With Him, what more do we need

Vision

lifeboc

She sat there

Dead, lifeless

With empty eyes

Her head once lifted sky-high

Now never leaves the fractured grounds

Her mouth which once held arresting sounds

Contagious laughter

Is merely a taut line which only speaks lies of “I’m fine”

Her mind once a wicked cyclone

Stands to be a cave without an echo

As a passerby glanced at the lifeless girl

She cracked her empty smile

Which once met the crinkles of her eyes

Now only quivers into a polite gesture

An unconscious reflex

At the speed of light

The passerby frowned and sat in apprehension

He had plans to end his night

In self-destruction

Instead he asked,

“Why did you smile?”

She turned and simply shrugged

“You call that a smile?” He bellowed briskly

He pulled the edges of his mouth

Stretching his goofy grin

She rose and left

With a smile

Truth

truth

Freedom will ring
Freedom will knock on every door
Will plead with action
Yet cry with words
Words strong enough to shatter
Hearts into bloody tears
Pools of broken promises
Promised every year
Created to fool the hungry
Into temporary contentment
But only the hearts of truth
Will be able to bear the resentment
So wait, patiently,
For the knock of freedom
Will be here soon
