As the sun crept upon the window pane, I thought I was waking up to yet another routine work day, in fact an excruciatingly boring one. I was supposed to attend a coffee talk by some CIO guy whose name I never cared to remember. I have always wondered about the point of attending such talks where the presenter would be some CXO I can no way relate to. He would walk in with a bunch of suited up people, all huffing and puffing under their suits, thanks to the scorching Indian summers.

Predictably, the CXO guy, red faced from the chilli cheese sandwich he had for breakfast, would open up with a desi touch, commenting on the spicy Indian food, pretty looking women or the snake charmers. I should then sit through an hour of serious stuff that will hardly sense to me. And then the Q&A session, for which a bunch of people selected in prior will recollect the questions memorized the previous evening and all the blah blah blah goes on and on before one kills oneself brooding over his/her fate.

Cursing myself, I walked into the hall. Notwithstanding all this, my team of hyper-actives insisted on sitting in the first row! Argh… In a few minutes, a tall guy probably in his mid-forties, casually dressed in a cool blue T-shirt and a black trouser and a pair of white shoes, walked in and stood right in front of me. The next couple of hours, the entire auditorium was spellbound.

His candidness and clarity of thought were what impressed me the most. There was one team in the auditorium which was fuming with rage, as the project, for which every member had worked 18 hours straight for more than 100 days, had been abruptly put on hold by the business. A programmer from that team began throwing very dicey questions right at the CIO, something which is rare to witness in India. Saum handled this guy, in a very sensitive and dignified manner, patiently answering every point of concern… Impeccable!

The highlight of the whole episode was when he revealed he had no MBA degree and that he was a Marine Engineer by profession!! 😀 Listening to this, I stood absolutely speechless and totally in awe!!

Knock knock, I am back

Its been aeons since my last blog.. I know..
Life has changed drastically since my last blog… I wish there is an app that lets me blog as I speak.. 😛 Am a lazy dog you see..

Life is like that!

Hurray… was waiting for this day for many years… I had always wanted to blog every thing that I come across.. But something or the other like always hindered the blogger in me… but now.. the wild blogger is out…

Since my last post (I guess it is about 2 years back… :P) there have been phenomenal changes in my life… Some faded off and the rest afresh.. Will start with the biggest change that has ever happened to me.. Yeah.. am an independent professional now!

Diwali is the eve when people accumulate new stuffs, often in exchange for the old ones… Last Diwali did exactly the same to me… I had to leave to for Chennai to join Cognizant. Only 2 days before I had got the call.. I jumped out of excitement after I attended the call from Cognizant.. My joy knew no bounds… Little did I know how painful it is to leave behind ur parents, friends, neighbours… That cozy feeling of being pampered like a kid is gone!!! Surpassing all my determination to wave off with smiling lips, tears rolled down my cheeks…

Seeing the heading any laymen would be easily reminded of the Milton’s poem.. ‘On His Blindness’.I simply love the poem to the core.It easily conveys the brute reality of a normal person’s life. For people who do not know the background of the poem’s composition… Milton spent almost half of his life, serving the King by writing and carrying pamphlets across.. Suddenly he realizes his ability to write poems and his inner desire to serve the Lord through his poetry. But alas! As fate would have it, he lost his vision when he most needed it!!!

“And be one talent that is death to hide, Lodged with me useless, though my soul more bent to serve therewith my maker…”

This is what happens ultimately to every human being.. We are racing against our real abilities and inclinations… All for the want of a comfortable, stable living…

My grandfather who is 82 years old is a living example.. He retired working as headmaster, National Higher Secondary School, Mannargudi.Disgusted, having spent almost 18 years of retired life, he took to pencil sketching just to give company to his five year old granddaughter who scribbles off the walls with crayons :).. And wonder of wonders, he could sketch (very real, sharp) portraits of famous personalities like M.S,Nehru,Shri Aurobindo, Ramana Maharishi… mind you he is 83 years old (young??)!!! He himself did not know this inherent trait.

So letz discover ourselves before it gets too late….
