After a long weekend out of the city, I can now publish the last episode of our summer escapade 2011, and this time i’ts all about Rhodes, the principal city and a former municipality of the island of Rhodes. We spent most of our last day wandering around the area.

Windmills of Rhodes

Mandraki Harbour
It is the main harbour of Rhodes for almost 2500 years. It is also believed that the Colossus of Rhodes, symbol of strength and wealth, was standing there, where the bronze male and female deer statues are. We don’t know whether it is true or not, but that’s what they believed 😉

view of the Market (“Nea Agora”) of Mandraki that was built during the Italian period

Here are more photos we have taken there and I apologise for not writing any description because I already forgot what are they called.

on a busy day!

We ended the day in Rhodes old town and had our “last supper” in one of the tavernas in town, where we had gyros and souvlaki plates 😛
