• After a long weekend out of the city, I can now publish the last episode of our summer escapade 2011, and this time i’ts all about Rhodes, the principal city and a former municipality of the island of Rhodes. We spent most of our last day wandering around the area.

    Mandraki Harbour

It is the main harbour of Rhodes for almost 2500 years. It is also believed that the  Colossus of Rhodes, symbol of strength and wealth, was standing there, where the bronze male and female deer statues are. We don’t know whether it is true or not, but that’s what they believed 😉

Here are more photos we have taken there and I apologise for not writing any description because I already forgot what are they called.

    on a busy day!

We ended the day in Rhodes old town and had our “last supper” in one of the tavernas in town, where we had gyros and souvlaki plates 😛

  • Family Park Mirakulum

Whether you are a resident or a tourist in the Czech Republic, you will surely enjoy this wonderful paradise not just for kids, it is completely for the whole family.

Park Mirakulum is just 45 minutes drive from Prague. It is located in Milovice, and can also be reached by public transportation. It was a former training ground for a tank crew of Soviet occupation troops, and now it is an amusement park perfect for all ages.

Surely, a day won’t be enough to explore 10 hectares full of different activities. We were here 3 years ago, and we can’t wait to go back and see the aqua world which was not yet built at that time. We now have 2 kids and we are pretty sure, they will both enjoy all the attractions it offers. The weather these days is so inviting, that it pushes me to write about this previous trip.

  • Am i doing it right? I am not sure but as part of letting our daughter explore and enjoy the company of others (without us), we allowed her for a sleep over.

The event was organised by the Focolare Movement here in the Czech Republic, so I have peace of mind. However, as a new parent, I was a little worried which is probably common to many moms out there.

My daughter is 4 ½ years old, she knew many things already like preparing her bed, eating alone, dressing up, going to toilet, and so on. And yes, up to date, I can barely contain myself as I look at her photos attending that overnight mini congress wherein she was the youngest. Seeing how she immediately made new friends, at once, on her first day, i was able to convinced myself that she will make it without us. Indeed, she made it! No mommy and tata for 1 night. 😊 I am just so proud of her 😍

***if that is the case… then, we are on the right track.

  • When my husband and I decided to go to the Tatra Mountain in Slovakia, he told me we could also pass by Krakow, Poland on our way back. I was so excited and without looking at the map, I told him I want to see Auschwitz too and he said yes, it is possible.

Later on, he found out that baby stroller is not allowed to enter in one part of Auschwitz, and it would not be nice to let me go alone while he is out with our baby. So, we seek help from his parents and the plan was made. We will all go on a trip to the Eastern part of the Czech Republic, and will include Auschwitz, for me to see while his parents are looking after our baby. Honestly, I felt like his parents are not really excited. Who would be excited to visit a place that caused so much pain to many?

Anyway, we all go there together and stayed in a 4 star autocamp in Frenstat.

Our accommodation is near the Valasske open-air museum and luckily, there’s an ongoing event on that day.

I enjoyed seeing the traditional lifestyle of the Wallachians, although I got really tired. I had migraine after the whole day event, so the next day we decided not to go to Auschwitz anymore.

Instead, we went to Mount Radhost to see Pustevny, the statue of the pagan god, and the chapel dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodej.

I enjoyed so much the nature and the beautiful views around us, the fresh air made me feel better and I realized that there are more beautiful places to see than a place that caused so much pain to many. Eventually, all of us had a great time, as well as our baby girl.

     Yahooo!!!
