I know what it is to be hungry.
I know what it is to tell myself I am content. Continue reading
Repost: Ghazal
This is a re-post of a ghazal that I wrote a couple of years ago. I am sharing with DVerse for this month’s poetry form.
Favorite Saying?
The SoCS prompt is “favorite saying,” and of course I can’t think of any good sayings right now.
Well, I can think of one: “Forget love; I’d rather fall in chocolate.” I don’t know if I agree with that, though.
I love Valentine’s Day. I just bought 100 Saint Valentine’s Day holy cards to pass out to literally everyone on or around that day. Romantic love or a relationship can be an idol, but love itself is the whole point of life.
Yummy Snack
Today I went to Paris Baguette with my friend Jen. I got a salted caramel pretzel cold brew and a salted caramel pretzel croissant.

Not much about it was chewy, but it was delicious! And I just realized that you can see my last name in the photo. I don’t think I’ve revealed that on my blog before. Fun fact.
This post is brought to you by JusJoJan and some money from my wallet to pay for my expensive snack.
When I Fall in Love
“When I give my heart, it will be completely, or I’ll never give my heart.”
— from the song “When I Fall in Love” by Nat King Cole
For One-Liner Wednesday, at 4:30 on Thursday morning because the line just came to me. I sang that song in my singing class when I was 19.
Intentionally Single
I’m kind of all over the place lately. Despite saying I wanted a new boyfriend in my recent post, yesterday I started reading the book Single for a Greater Purpose. I’m kind of tired of dealing with romantic relationships, to be honest. And things have never worked out for me. So maybe God wants me to be intentionally single. Thanks, God. 😑 That’s scary to think about because I do want a husband — I told God, “If I can’t be a nun, at least don’t let me be forever alone” — but it’s all one day at a time, anyway. I’m not particularly lonely right now.
In other news, I cut myself while slicing a bagel this morning. At least it is something to “offer up,” as so many Catholics say.
Star Shining
Star
Shining
In the dark,
Brightness showing
The way to the Babe --
The One who saves is born,
Only the Herods will mourn
On this wholly glorious day:
The Magi by Mary choose to stay,
To worship the newborn King, gifts giving.
I wrote this etheree this morning for the feast of the Epiphany. We celebrated it at Mass today, even though technically it is not until the 6th.
NEW Word of the Year
I forgot to choose a “word of the year” before the New Year started, but I came up with one this morning: my word for the year 2026 is NEW! That might seem like cheating — having my word for a new year be New — but it feels right to me. I already kind of messed up, but it’s never too late for a NEW start!
I am hoping for a NEW job this year, maybe a NEW boyfriend, probably some NEW habits (there are some old habits that need to go in the trash).
I don’t want to be a totally NEW person, since I usually like myself (not today, but usually), but I can be a better person.
Mindfulness
Deep breath.
Pay attention
To what is around you,
Not in the future, not the past,
But now.
Today being January 1st, we are starting JusJoJan, which I forgot about until 5 minutes ago. So I wrote this cinquain. I need its reminder.
At the New Year
I hope I find someone to kiss at midnight!
For One-Liner Wednesday. Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! Also, I don’t drink champagne but liked the picture.

Festivities
Merry Christmas to all of my readers! I have had a good time with my family, but it’s just my twin brother and parents (and 2 cats). We had a special dinner last night, ate Christmas casserole for breakfast this morning, and opened presents. We have no other plans today, but we might play Catan Seafarers, a game that my friend got our family.
The festivities will continue tomorrow and over the weekend and even next week, as many of my friends and I get together!
I went to Mass last night, and one little girl asked, “Are they gonna pour water on someone’s head?” 😆 I guess she’s been to a few baptisms but not many masses.
This post is for Writer’s Workshop, write a post in 7 sentences (this is my 8th sentence).

Touching Lives
“Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”
— from Its a Wonderful Life
For One-Liner Wednesday.
I went to the movies last Tuesday night and watched It’s a Wonderful Life with my friend who had never seen it before. He loved it!
