For Kid

Kid said this is us and he is on the left:

It feels like it just happened but three years ago, the world lost a special human being.  These are not just words to honor a missed loved one.  I would like to share some of the things that made Kid special.

Of all the people I have met, Kid was a genuinely special person; tolerant, accepting, patient, honest (to a fault), funny, and all the other platitudes attributed to good people.  The only things that would put you on Kid's “list” was if you abused animals, children, or the elderly.  Otherwise, Kid accepted everybody.

Kid did not know how to say “no” to anyone who asked... and people would take advantage of Kid's  kindness.  To Kid it was no big deal because it was something he was able to do.

To those of you that knew Kid from the blog, believe me when I tell you how much each of you meant to Kid.  I saw first hand how much time Kid spent in communication with you.  I had previously mentioned that at times I felt jealous of the time Kid spent with all of you.  Those of you that have reached out to me has shown me why all of you were so integral to Kid's daily routine.

I am constantly reminded of Kid saying to me “baby, I just saved you $$$ by fixing it myself”, as I maneuver the minefield of contractors.  There was not anything Kid could not do or fix, for examples:

Electrical = rewiring outlets, replacing light fixtures, installed a new circuit box, for a generator, and connected it to the existing circuit box.

Carpentry = any kind of home repair/replacement (we had replaced some of the windows/doors ourselves), and I’ve posted some of his woodworking items.

Installed all the hardwood flooring when we moved to this house.

The only thing Kid could not do was cook, except he made great lasagna.   I was always diligent to make sure to trim all the fat from the meat I prepared.  Kid said he could find fat on a peanut.

Kid could do all these things and worked full time as a programmer/developer.  This too is a remarkable feat as he is self-taught.  Kid's company was using proprietary software that was not doing what Kid needed, so Kid studied the code and taught himself how to fix it.  As a result, the software company offered Kid a position with their company and Kid became one of their premier programmers/technical advisors.  Which by the way is how we met.  Now that is a story not to be believed.  In short, I called Kid my “stalker”.

Kid was truly selfless.  When we first learned Kid was ill, Kid did not complain, or whine about his condition, Kid's first words to me were “I don’t want to leave you alone”.

For all these reasons and more is what has made it so difficult to accept Kid's loss.

Kid's Creations

Thought I would share a couple photos of the type of woodworking Kid did.  It was amazing the type of inlay he could create.  Notice the detail.

This is the first thing I had asked him to make, a writing table.  The table is made of Mahogany, but each of the inlay pieces is an exotic wood.  Kid cut and shaped each of these pieces.

30 Short Years Ago From Today

Nothing surprises me, but I do still wonder on occasion how in Hell we ended up here with three imbeciles in the top three positions of government and an entire government leadership which is corrupt, criminal, anti-America and actively selling us down the river to our enemies like China.

Well, enjoy this look back.

This is as he is leaving office of course.  It is clear to me he wasn't suffering from dementia.
