When my Pappa told me that we are going to Kandy.. I thought that place is filled with candies 😉

Tooth Relic temple: Tooth Relic Temple is a must visit place in Kandy. The most revered site in Sri Lanka. The shrine overlooks the vast expanse of the Kandy Lake.
The importance of this temple is that Lord Buddha’s tooth has been preserved and hidden within a gold casket. We visited the Temple during noon. My parents were amazed to see the well protected inner shrine where it is kept.

Walk around the Kandy lake also known as ‘Sea of Milk’ was beautiful and very peaceful. It is surrounded by Mara trees and it has a beautiful walking path. There are lot of venders who sell snack and drinks in between. My parents tried some local foods around the temple. The soothing sounds and calming waters of the lake will definitely erase the hustle and the bustle of the town.
Gem Factory and Museum: My Mom wanted to visit Gem museum, There we saw a video documentary of how Rare earth materials like gems, rubies, graphite are mined in Srilanka.

Kandyan dance and cultural program: The dance performance was filled with so much of energy. The drumming, juggling, acrobats & their colorful costumes was very impressive.

Few tips before you visit Kandy will make your travel smoother with a better experience:
Hello again everyone,
As you all know, my dad is not updating his blogs because he has become busy in his profession. That’s why I took over his blog for this trip. I am very happy that both my parents took a break from their busy work schedule. They’re lucky to have me as their child because I often relieve their stress.
Day 1 in Srilanka, This is how it went, after a slight delay in our flight we landed in Colombo airport at 12.30. By the time we left the airport after all the immigration and baggage claim it was around 3pm. Our driver Mahesh uncle was waiting for us at the airport. We stopped at Sha Restaurant near Colombo.

We started for Kandy. Enroute to Kandy we visited Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala.

The government park was already closed as it was 4.50pm. So we visited Millenium orphanage. There we saw how to give a bath to elephants and saw a few elephants tied. It was a good place, we spent around an hour in this beautiful place and started for Kandy.

Stay Tuned.. More to come!
Hello everyone, I’m Maanvi and I’m very much excited to write my first post on my pappa’s blog site. This is my first international trip. We are going to celebrate my parents 2nd wedding anniversary in Srilanka.
There’s something special about this country. My pappa’s first international trip was to Srilanka and his first flight was also a Srilankan airlines flight. So he wanted me to have a similar experience like him. There is more to it. I have also been privileged to be with my parents on their first international trip together as this happens to be their first overseas trip together too.

Lot more to come Stay tuned..!!
