Old Mission, MI

On WED we spontaneously decided instead of 'low key - local' to drive back west to Old Mission, MI. We stopped in Elk Rapids for our picnic on the beach with self made sandwiches. Kids loved it :)... they didn't even wanna eat but play *lol*

Then we went to the beach on Old Mission where the lighthouse is located that we wanted to look up...
The 'Old Mission Lighthouse'

The first house built where the lighthouse was... somewhere in the late 1890 or something? I don't remember exactly... ;)
Old Mission also had an 'old identical' General Store... which was awesome... very tiny so it was hard for us with the kids and the little stroller to go through it but we made it. Luckily we brought the 'double' stroller and the 'lightweight' stroller so we were ready for every situation ;)

Point Iroquois Lighthouse

After Sault Ste. Marie we drove over to Brimley where the Point Iroquois Lighthouse is located and it was AMAZING... all four of us went up there and Zoe was still talking about it days later how she went all the way up there... every time she sees a picture of a lighthouse 'all the way up there' comes out of her mouth... She really had a memorable vacation...

The view from 'all the way up there' :)... breath taking...

Afterwards we let the kids play on the beach... Zoe and Henry loved the huge sandbox they got there and enjoyed playing

A relaxed Frank...

Thought this looked funny... the tree had some sort of growth on it... can you see it?
Amazing views... the way back home to our hotel in Petoskey:

We had dinner in 'The Legs Inn' a polish restaurant I googled and got high recommendations... in the middle of nowhere a very good restaurant. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a typical european dinner... yum... best food of the week goes to: TUE :)

Sault Ste. Marie, MI

On TUE morning we drove up to Upper Peninsular to Sault St. Marie, which is on the canadian boarder ;). The famous: 'Soo Locks' (Schleuse) were there but honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal and the boat tour unfortunately we missed since we had to wait for the next one 1.5 hrs which we didn't wanna do. But our TUE got the award of the best meals we had all week :).

The bridge that connects Michigan and Upper Peninsular (which is also Michigan). Come to find out, this bridge is on the Michigan Driver License *lol*

In Sault Ste. Marie

Our Lunch at 'Karl's Cuisine'... YUM... Frank said it was 'perfect'!!! I've barely heard him saying that about food ever unless we paid of course a lot of money. It really was perfect...

Hihi... had to take a picture of this:
