Book Introduction
A Room Inside the Wind is a debut collection of poems by Syed Aadil Omer — a poet of silence, memory, and longing.
These verses are born from the hush of solitude, the ache of absence, and the hope of morning light. This book invites you not just to read, but to listen — to the quiet rooms we all carry inside.
“All these poems are futile
If they don’t glitter
On the night sky
Of your lashes…”— from A Room Inside the Wind

Syed Aadil Omer is the pen name of Syed Muhammad Aadil Shah — a healthcare professional by day and a poet by soul.
He began writing in 2006 during long, solitary evenings in Islamabad. His verses speak of silence, longing, and the sacred stillness between life’s noise. A Room Inside the Wind marks his debut, echoing his belief that poetry lives not on pages, but in the quiet corners of us all.
From the Collection
A poem is coming;
oozing through a tiny opening
of the block —
a bullet hole
from the left to the right hemisphere
in the skull of this Waziristan child.A poem is coming
wrapped in a blood‑stained sheet
upheld in a charpoy
over the shoulders of the bereaved
of a drone strike;
is coming,
screaming to be heard,
staggering under crimson curlicues,
intruding onto the blank peace,
of your apathy.— From A Room Inside the Wind

Poems from the shelter no one saw
