Land settlement…

Hello! Hello!

I have been AWOL as we’ve hit a roadblock with our loan application. Who would have thought changing jobs would impact pre-approvals? 😥 Oh well, everything’s sorted now for our land and the good news is we’re only waiting for the land to be registered.

As per LPI, our estate’s Deposited Plan is now Undergoing Folio Creation. This means our land will settle soon!

That’s about it. My next “mini-project” now is to finalise our build budget before October – to borrow from the bank or not? Hrrmmmm…

UPDATE 05-AUG PM: That escalated quickly. Our land is now registered as per LPI‘s website! Settlement should happen in the next two weeks. How exciting! 🙂

Selections coming up soon…

…or sooner than I expected. Our Day 1 appointment is scheduled next Monday and I haven’t narrowed down what I want yet! Gaaaa!

I’ve been reading EBH blogs and Homeone forum, lifestyle and design articles, and probably have downloaded over 1000 photos from all corners of the planet.

Here’s my progress so far:

Got a long way to go! Hopefully I will have everything sorted by Saturday night. =)

Until my next post.

Hello!

Welcome to our blog!

This is our first time building and thought to share with you our experience.

Just a little background…

My husband (Mr P) and I have been searching for an apartment near Sydney CBD since early 2015 but did not find anything we fancy. We almost committed to an $800K 2-bedroom apartment but backed out and decided to just explore what’s outside Sydney.

Given that we did not have prior build experience, we thought it was a good idea to to buy an established home or a house and land package. We’ve placed bids on three established homes but lost in the bids. How heartbreaking!

Fast forward to August 2015…

We finally found a land in a new estate near our relative’s place. Win! The land price was quite steep so we did not qualify for the first home owner grant. But that was not a deal breaker as we were quite happy with the size of the land.

2016 came…

We’ve visited several display homes but was surprised that the base price of building a two-storey home is now close to $300K… too expensive. Considering that we don’t have any kids and don’t need a big home yet, we’ve decided to purchase a single story home instead.

Among the display homes we’ve seen, I really liked the layout of EBH’s London 22 in Jordan Springs but did not like the common bedroom windows. Then I discovered Saville through Homeone so went one weekend with Mr P to checkout the display home at Oran Park.

One week later…

We’re happy with the Saville layout and placed an initial deposit for a Saville 20 corner alternative floor plan. We chose Saville 20 because it fits our budget and it has all the criteria we had in mind:
– Spacious master suite / bedroom 1
– Open plan kitchen, dining and living area
– Big windows / well lit common area

Our tender presentation is scheduled for next week. Wish us luck!

That’s it for now. Thanks for visiting!
