Selah Moments

Selah.

A moment in time in which you stop.

Take a breath.

Reflect on that which your eyes or ears have absorbed.

Listen to Holy Spirit.

Psalm 46 was said to be written during the invasion of Jerusalem by the Assyrian army.

You can imagine the fear, chaos and uncertainty.

As for you and I today, there are times in our lives where fear rears its ugly head.

Chaos and uncertainty clash, making us feel the anxiety of what lies ahead.

Conflict and confrontation, leaves us bewildered.

But here in this passage, we are reminded of who our God is.

Our One True God.

Our very present help in the time of our trouble.

As you read the Psalm, embrace the Selah Moments.

Allow Holy Spirit to minister the truth of His Word to you.

God is our shelter and our strength. When troubles seem near, God is nearer, and He’s ready to help. So why run and hide? No fear, no pacing, no biting fingernails. When the earth spins out of control, we are sure and fearless. When mountains crumble and the waters run wild, we are sure and fearless. Even in heavy winds and huge waves, or as mountains shake, we are sure and fearless.

Selah Moment

pure stream flows—never to be cut off—bringing joy to the city where God makes His home, the sacred site where the Most High chooses to live. The True God never sleeps and always resides in the city of joy; He makes it unstoppable, unshakable. When it awakes at dawn, the True God has already been at work. Trouble is on the horizon for the outside nations, not long until kingdoms will fall; God’s voice thunders and the earth shakes. You know the Eternal, the Commander of heavenly armies, surrounds us and protects us; the True God of Jacob is our shelter, close to His heart.

Selah Moment

Come, gaze, fix your eyes on what the Eternal can do. Amazing, He has worked desolation here on this battlefield, earth. God can stop wars anywhere in the world. He can make scrap of all weapons: snap bows, shatter spears, and burn shields. “Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among all the nations. I am honored over all the earth.”You know the Eternal, the Commander of heavenly armies, surrounds us and protects us; the True God of Jacob is our shelter, close to His heart. Psalm 46 (The Voice)

Selah Moment

Beloved, I will not add any more to this. I pray that in your Selah Moments, God, in His mighty and powerful presence, showers you with His mighty love.

A Psalm of Thanksgiving

In the good and in the not so good.

In the valley and on the mountain.

In every season.

Our God is GOOD.

Shout happily to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord cheerfully.
Come into his presence with a joyful song.
Realize that the Lord alone is God.
He made us, and we are his.
We are his people and the sheep in his care.
Enter his gates with a song of thanksgiving.
Come into his courtyards with a song of praise.
Give thanks to him; praise his name. The Lord is good.
His mercy endures forever.
His faithfulness endures throughout every generation.

Psalm 100

Come As You Are

So we can go confidently to the throne of God’s kindness  to receive mercy and find kindness, which will help us at the right time. Hebrews 4:16

You can confidently and boldly approach the throne of God because He is your Father.

Your boldness is not caused by pride or self-importance, but by a confidence in God’s love for you.

Approach His throne in awe and with the knowing that as His child, you are accepted.

Bow before Him because He is King, and with the heart assurance that He loves you.

Exalt Him in His presence, for He is worthy.

Tell Him what is on your heart, for He already knows.

Beloved, let your heart be at peace and simply come as you are.

He created you.

He knows you.

He has called you to Himself.

So if you are tired, come as you are.

Confused.

Come as you are.

Broken.

Come as you are.

Overwhelmed.

Come as you are.

Simply go to His throne, accept His mercy and kindness.

You will be welcomed with open arms, just as you are.

Your Identity

Embrace what God’s Word says about you…

God has made us what we are. He has created us in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with good works that he has prepared for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence. 2 Corinthians 5:17

However, you are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, people who belong to God. You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

Dear children, you belong to God. So you have won the victory over these people, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

I love you with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3

You are deeply loved by God, the Father, because He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you.

You were chosen by God before you were in your mother’s womb.

Chosen, wanted, and loved.

What a truth to behold!

This is why the enemy fights so hard to keep God’s children from embracing their identity in Christ.

There is no need to fear, for you have been made perfect in His love, where fear cannot dwell.

Insecurity is not your portion, for you are now secure in Christ.

You CAN do ALL things, for it is His power and wisdom that strengthen you.

You don’t have to worry about tomorrow, for He holds tomorrow in His hands.

You are NEVER alone, for He promised He would never leave you nor forsake you.

When you walk in the truth of who you are, there is freedom!

Beloved, you were created for a purpose—a God-given purpose.

Embrace it.

But God

The enemy said, “I will go after them, chase them down, and divide the spoils; my desire will be spent on them. I will draw my sword; my powerful hand will take possession of them once again.” But You blew Your breath-wind, and the sea covered them; they sank like lead down into the mighty waters. Exodus 15:9,10 (The Voice)

Exodus 15 is known as “A Song of Deliverance,” also referred to as the Song of Moses. Israel had just experienced a miraculous escape from their enemies, the Egyptians, through the mighty hand of God. As He parted the Red Sea for His people to walk through, He then allowed the same Red Sea to swallow their enemies (see Exodus 14).

The enemy spoke one thing, but God had the final word. What seemed impossible became God’s way of showing His power and strength.

Are you in your Red Sea, treading water and trying to stay afloat, searching for a life preserver? Remember, God is the One who upholds you with His righteous right hand, and He will save you.

Are you under insurmountable pressure from every side? Remember, your God has promised to hide you and be your refuge in your time of trouble.

What “Red Sea” are you facing today? What appears completely impossible? Remember, WITH God, ALL things are possible!

Beloved, the same God who delivered the Israelites from a very powerful enemy is the same God who can and will deliver you.

Hear God’s Word for you today:

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14

Incomparable

Who has measured the water of the sea  with the palm of his hand or measured the sky with the length of his hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a bushel basket or weighed the mountains on a scale and the hills on a balance? Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord or instructed him as his adviser? Whom did he consult? Who gave him understanding? Who taught him the right way? Who taught him knowledge? Who informed him about the way to understanding? Isaiah 40:12-14 (GW)

The Creator of heaven and earth is also your Heavenly Father. The One who formed the moon and stars and so lovingly put them in place has also lovingly orchestrated all the intricate details of your life. He is God Almighty, your Good Shepherd.

“To whom, then, can you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One. Isaiah 40:25

There is no one like our God. None who could ever compare. Not now and not in the days to come. He knows all, and He sees all. So when you hunger, eat His daily bread. When you thirst, drink His living water. When you are tired, reach out to Him for strength. When you feel lost, remember He has not forsaken you.

Listen to His Word for you:

Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The eternal God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t grow tired or become weary. His understanding is beyond reach. He gives strength to those who grow tired and increases the strength of those who are weak. Even young people grow tired and become weary, and young men will stumble and fall. Yet, the strength of those who wait with hope in the Lord will be renewed. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and won’t become weary. They will walk and won’t grow tired. Isaiah 40:28-31

Open Your Eyes

One time when the king of Aram was at war with Israel, after consulting with his officers, he said, “At such and such a place I want an ambush set.” The Holy Man (the prophet Elisha) sent a message to the king of Israel: “Watch out when you’re passing this place, because Aram has set an ambush there.” So the king of Israel sent word concerning the place of which the Holy Man had warned him. This kind of thing happened all the time. The king of Aram was furious over all this. He called his officers together and said, “Tell me, who is leaking information to the king of Israel? Who is the spy in our ranks?” But one of his men said, “No, my master, dear king. It’s not any of us. It’s Elisha the prophet in Israel. He tells the king of Israel everything you say, even what you whisper in your bedroom.” The king said, “Go and find out where he is. I’ll send someone and capture him.” The report came back, “He’s in Dothan.” Then he dispatched horses and chariots, an impressive fighting force. They came by night and surrounded the city. Early in the morning a servant of the Holy Man got up and went out. Surprise! Horses and chariots surrounding the city! The young man exclaimed, “Oh, master! What shall we do?” He said, “Don’t worry about it—there are more on our side than on their side.” Then Elisha prayed, “O God, open his eyes and let him see.” The eyes of the young man were opened and he saw. A wonder! The whole mountainside full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha! 2 Kings 6:8-17 (MSG, Emphasis Mine)

Beloved, ask God to open your eyes. Not your natural eyes, but your spiritual eyes. When life feels overwhelming and the odds seem stacked against you, you MUST believe what His Word says, “Dear children, you belong to God. So you have won the victory over these people, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4.

You serve a mighty God who can and will fight your battles. Through the eyes of faith, you will see that God is with you. Be afraid no longer and trust in the power and provision of the Almighty.

As the Deer

My soul is dry and thirsts for You, True God, as a deer thirsts for water. I long for the True God who lives. When can I stand before Him and feel His comfort? Psalm 42:1,2 (The Voice)

Just as a deer instinctively knows that water will quench its thirst, you, Beloved, understand that only God can truly fulfill your deepest longings.

Why am I so overwrought? Why am I so disturbed? Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will believe and praise the One who saves me and is my life. Psalm 42:5

When you feel broken, alone, or overwhelmed, and when you hunger and thirst for something more, remember the faithfulness and goodness of your God, for He is your true source of salvation.

Yet in the light of day, the Eternal shows me His love. When night settles in and all is dark, He keeps me company—His soothing song, a prayerful melody to the True God of my life. Psalm 42:8

He is the light of the world. When your night season feels too long, remember that you serve a God who neither sleeps nor slumbers. He watches over you. You are never alone.

Why am I so overwrought, Why am I so disturbed? Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will believe and praise the One who saves me, my God. Psalm 42:11

Beloved, no matter how you feel, stand on the truth that your God is fighting for you. He is your salvation. He is your living hope and will rescue you and show you His mighty power in your life. Only trust and believe!

Live Like He is Coming Back

I don’t think, friends, that I need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Master’s coming can’t be posted on our calendars. He won’t call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody’s walking around complacently, congratulating each other—“We’ve sure got it made! Now we can take it easy!”—suddenly everything will fall apart. It’s going to come as suddenly and inescapably as birth pangs to a pregnant woman. But friends, you’re not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? You’re sons of Light, daughters of Day. We live under wide open skies and know where we stand. So let’s not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let’s keep our eyes open and be smart. People sleep at night and get drunk at night. But not us! Since we’re creatures of Day, let’s act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation. God didn’t set us up for an angry rejection but for salvation by our Master, Jesus Christ. He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 (MSG)

The day of the Lord is surely coming.

An eternity awaits us, and what we do with our time on this earth matters.

This is the only earthly life we will ever have. Live your life for the One who loves you.

Obey Him. Be sober-minded. Remove distractions from your life and follow Him wholeheartedly. Walk in His love, joy, and peace. Be patient, gentle, and kindhearted with others.

Remember, God did not send His Son, Jesus, into the world to condemn it. He was sent so that we might have eternal life in Him. He died so that we could lead a faithful and fruitful life.

Beloved, no one—and I do mean NO ONE—knows the hour, day, minute, or second of our Savior’s return. His Word tells us, “Now, concerning that day and hour, no one knows—neither the angels of heaven nor the Son—except the Father alone.” Matthew 24:36.

So in the meantime, walk with Him. Talk with Him. Read His Word. Pray. Serve others. Let go of your will and exchange it for His perfect will. Spread the good news while you can so that everyone may know the kindness of the Savior.

Live like He is coming back.

The Power of God’s Word

Remember what you were taught from your childhood from the Holy Scrolls which can impart to you wisdom to experience everlasting life through the faith of Jesus, the Anointed One! God has transmitted his very substance into every Scripture,  for it is God-breathed.  It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you. 2 Timothy 3:15-16 (TPT)

This is why we read and meditate upon God’s Word daily.

In His Word, you will find wisdom.

In His Word, you will get to know who your Savior is.

While the nature of our Creator is too vast for comprehension, we are invited to know Him more intimately through the Bible.

That is why we must never take the Word of God for granted.

God breathed His very love into every word.

Blessings await you as you pour over the pages of His love letter.

You receive His power.

You learn to walk in His ways.

He gives you supernatural strength.

Remember, the Word of God promises to guide every step as you set out to fulfill the destiny and purpose He has for you, for Psalm 119:105 says, Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.

Beloved, everything you could ever desire or need in this life is beautifully revealed in His Word.

Immerse yourself in His Word and be filled with His power.

For you, the Eternal’s Word is your happiness. It is your focus—from dusk to dawn. You are like a tree, planted by flowing, cool streams of water that never run dry. Your fruit ripens in its time; your leaves never fade or curl in the summer sun. No matter what you do, you prosper. Psalm 1:2,3 (The Voice)
