Welcome to Shoolicious, your go-to-blog for everything shoes! Whether you’re a sneakerhead, a high-heel enthusiast, or someone who just loves a good pair of comfy flats, we’ve got you covered. In this post, we’ll dive into the latest shoe trends and share essential tips on how to care for your beloved footwear.

Latest Shoo Trends: Here are some of the hottest shoo trends for 2024:

  1. Chunky Boots: Heavy-duty, stomper-style boots with a grungy, lived-in look are making a big comeback. Brands like Coach, Miu Miu, and Loewe have showcased these on the runways.
  1. Platform Loafers: Forget the classic penny loafers; 2024 is all about loafers with lofty platform soles. These have been spotted at Burberry, Gucci, and Victoria Beckham.
  1. Patent Leather: Glossy patent-leather shoes, including boots and slingback pumps, are set to define cool footwear for the year. Look out for these at Ferragamo, Saint Laurent, and Gucci.
  1. Mary Jane Flats: These flats are back with substantial soles and buckle hardware, as seen in the collections of Bally and Tory Burch.
  1. Jelly Shoes: Making an unexpected comeback, jelly shoes are adding a playful touch to the 2024 shoe scene.
  1. Clogs: Comfortable and stylish, clogs are another trend to watch out for.
  1. Metallic Shoes: Shiny, metallic finishes are still in vogue, perfect for adding a bit of sparkle to your outfit.

Shooessential Care Tips:

  1. Waterproof Your Shoes: Protect your shoes from water damage by applying a waterproof spray or wax, especially for leather and suede shoes.
  1. Reinforce the Soles: Adding a rubber sole protector can extend the life of your shoes and provide extra grip.
  1. Rotate Your Shoes: Avoid wearing the same pair every day. Rotating your shoes gives them time to air out and helps keep their shape.
  1. Use Shoe Trees: Insert wooden shoe trees into your shoes when not in use. They help keep the shape and absorb moisture.
  1. Regular Cleaning: Clean your shoes regularly to remove dirt and stains. Use proper cleaners based on the material (e.g., leather cleaner for leather shoes, mild soap for canvas).
  1. Polish Leather Shoes: Polish your leather shoes weekly to keep them looking shiny and new. Use a good quality shoe polish and a soft cloth.
  1. Avoid the Washing Machine: Except for canvas shoes, avoid cleaning your shoes in the washing machine as it can damage the material and structure.
  1. Dry Properly: If your shoes get wet, let them dry naturally. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators, as they can cause the material to crack.
  1. Condition Leather: Apply a leather conditioner every few months to keep the leather soft and prevent it from drying out.
  1. Store Properly: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place. Use dust bags or boxes to protect them from dust and sunlight.

To “camo” or not to “camo”?

“Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life.”

In honor of Veterans Day, I thought it appropriate to pay tribute to the men and women who sacrifice daily for the freedom that we enjoy. A special thank you to my grandfather, uncles, aunts and cousins who I’ve personally witnessed dedicate their lives to service.

Now let’s talk about fashion! I remember as a young girl, we were obsessed with what we then called “Jodeci boots,” which were actuallynothing more than just army boots. I recall begging my mom to take me to an army store downtown by the name of Bennett’s, to purchase them. The obsession with camouflage, has been around for a long time. Just like then, camo is still everywhere today. It often times functions almost as a neutral, allowing you to pair it with dark and neutral colors, neon’s, as well as pastels.

So without any further delay, here is my list of 10 books that I think every fashion passionate, including me should read.
