Store Feature: Blackstar May 2, 2009

So I was wandering around looking at god knows what (honestly I go on some wild explorations sometimes) and wound up landing at this cool SIM with some well known stores.  But there was one store I hadn’t heard of before and that was Blackstar.  The second I saw the clothes I had to call my friends Zane, Frankie and Syler over to check it out.

Blackstar is a small store with a ton of punch.  The quality was way beyond what I was expecting for the price.  The clothes are fun, a little punky/gothy/fun which normally isn’t my thing but hey I’m learning to be flexible.  On top of having some great looks they have insane prices.  Seriously, 250L for a well made outfit? Hell yeah!

The one I’m wearing here is called Bruised and you too can own it for a mere 250L.  My favorite part are the pants, I seriously would have bought these separately for 250L because they look so amazing.  My favorite detail is the way the seams are stretched along the hips and thighs like I really had to squeeze them on. Rawr!  Thank you Izzy Dench! The shirt and gloves come with it, btw.  But not the boots, those are the Xing Boots from Shiny Things.

Atomic (Kitty) Re-Opening!

atomic-kitty-opening-copyAtomic Kitty has re-opened and I’m still in the middle of the shopping frenzy!  I wanted to throw this out there ASAP, since it is only up for 24 hours!  The girls’ version, which is kinda hard to see on me, says I ❤ Noobs.  The guy version is pictured behind me.  Both are 10L (regular price 100L) and available, as the sign says, until tomorrow!  So, get your butts down here!  And, let me just add, as I’m skimming the walls…O..M..G!  I’m gonna be broke!  ❤

 

Harajuku Hunt

Sean and I went to the Harajuku Box Concert/Hunt start today after I saw a few people plurking about it.  After the performance by Takamura Keiko (which was really good) we decided to do the hunt.  Yay for hunts having stuff for the guys too.  The hunt continues until the 25th so there’s plenty of time to pick up the goodies. Here’s some of the stuff we got.

Both of our skins, my eyes, and our outfits are from the hunt.

Our shirts are from the hunt and jeans from League.  I believe they weren’t much for a two pack (which we both purchased) I’ll post the price later.  My shoes are from SIN (xstreet) there are several colors available all for $0L.

My hair throughout the post is from !Lamb and Sean’s is from KMadd.

I’ve been waiting a few weeks for the MiaSnow egg hunt.  Then I totally forgot until about an hour ago that it had started.  haha go figure.  The eggs are not hard to find and have some great goodies from House of Munster, MiaSnow, LurveBite, Jas and Tekeli-li.

The hair worn in this picture is from Aden, she’s having a $50L sale at the moment.  Not sure when it end so if you haven’t gone already I suggest you go soon.

Designer Spotlight – Autumn Hykova of Pixel Dust

I’m not really sure what took me so long to wander into Autumn Hykova’s shop, Pixel Dust.  I had like 5 lms for it so apparently I’d been meaning to go and had just forgotten.  If you read this and think…”oh I’ll go later, I’ll bookmark the slurl”, no, you should go now, lol.  There are tons of styles to choose from and at 50L a color you can easily afford to buy a wide variety.

Who is your main inspiration? I like to make my hair look like something that is wearable in RL. as far as people who inspire me, I have a few: Dakota Buck, Dove Swanson, Noam Sprocket, pretty much any one of my friends who are content creators, I love watching the ideas that my friends come up with.

How hard is it to find recognition in the SL fashion industry? I’m not sure that I have ‘recognition’ in the SL fashion community. But I think it’s hard to start out, and it’s a long process to be ‘known’

What are the greatest problems and benefits facing SL designers? problems are thieves/copybotters. Benefits are the limitlessness of the SL platform. I make a hair and I can sell it infinitely, I don’t have to replace materials or anything like that like I would in RL.

Where do you like to shop? Everywhere 🙂 I love to find smaller quirky shops.

Who are your favorite designers? Dakota Buck, Noam Sprocket,  Fallingwater Cellardoor, Zaara Kohime, Annette Voight, Julliette Westerburg, Twiggy Whippet, Emma Gilmour, Gala Phoenix

Are your designs a reflection of your RL style? some of them are, though I don’t think I’d do a mohawk in the RL lol

What got you into creating things in SL? boredom, and a bad breakeup.  🙂

How long have you been making things? nearly 2 years now.

What’s the next project you’ll be working on? I’m working on rebranding my old line with new textures and new styles. Tiny Bird is coming soon!

What are your other interests in SL? Shopping and hanging out with friends mainly. I love to go to listen to my friends DJ.

Ok, last but not least, what did the monkey at the zoo say to the little boy? so I googled this, and didn’t find any answers, I’m gonna go with … um….  … I fail. 😦

A.Y.Y is moving! March 24, 2009

And, with this particular move, there comes a sale on both male and female attire!  But, you have to be quick…I think that as soon as the new A.Y.Y  is ready and set up, the sale will be over.  There are also 3 lucky chairs and 3 lucky boards up at the store, keep an eye on them as you shop.   You will rummage through a plethora of different styles.  The casual, fun looks offer the potential for clever mix/matches.  Some of my favorites include the leggings (in all funky colors and patterns) and the shirts.  Shoes, skirts, and more formal looks round up the rest of the get-ups along with some fun “extras” to shop through.

The first outfit is put together with A.Y.Y’s Phella dress in white (82L) and the Jays Jacket in Blue (30L.)  The jacket adds a very nice layer to the outfit.  The navy blue ballet flats are from ETD.

On my way home from the shopping spree, I hit a McDonalds!  McNuggets just hit the spot, never mind the crazy boy AV that nearly ran me over inside.

Love, love, love the leggings, Mochi’s Leggings in purple…47L!  I am definitely going to go back and pick up some more.  The shoes are from Fuel and little bit more if you want to spend it on shoes that go with everything.  But, check out the shoes at A.Y.Y first.  “F-ck being nice” is just one of the MANY t-shirts available to buy, 47L.  I just had to get this one.  The cap/hair is from Argrace, a little more Lindens.  Jump to A.Y.Y!

I’m a huge fan of winter, I love the snow, christmas lights and the way grass crunches when there’s a layer of frost on it.  Yet….this year, I’m sick and tired of winter. Too much snow and it’s been horribly cold.  I’m actually excited for summer (which is really weird).  After rummaging through my swimsuits folder for a party I was going to I decided that I was going to roam around in them for a while and pretend it was warm and sunny out.  I found some cute freebie poses on xstreet, so I snagged Kith and told him to throw on some swim trunks and come pretend with me. haha

These first 2 sets of poses are from :vyvy: (xstreet purchase) both are freebies.  The normal price for the poses is $50L which is superrr cheap and they have quite a few.  Kith’s first pair of swim trunks is from JJ’s, they’re $15L and there are several other colors for $75L.  They are transfer which is nice for gifting and come on the pants layer. There are also a few girls suits and boardshorts for around that much as well.  The second pair of trunks are from Vitamen for $80L and come on both pants/underpants layers.

These next 2 sets are poses from sr3d.  The first is their current freebie on xstreet, there also is a $10L pose but I forgot completely about it when taking pictures. The second is a group freebie in store.  The group joiner is at the main desk and the gift behind the stair well next to two lucky chairs.  Normally their poses run at $200L, there are some creative ones as well as a few poses with props.  Kith’s first pair of trunks is from Sensual Mistery for $120L, the second pair from Vitamen for $100L.  Both pairs of trunks come on pants/underpants layers.  The suits I’m wearing throughout are a 4 pack from PinUp Dolls, if there’s one thing I love more than plaid it’s pokadots.  $100L will get you a red w/white pokadots, red w/black pokadots, white w/black pokadots and a solid red suit.  The suit comes on both shirt/pants and undershirt/pants layers.

This pose is a freebie from Valiant and although you can’t see it is actually a seashell shaped pose ball and is slightly animated.  As I mentioned above JJ’s has some girl swimsuits as well, this one is currently $1L.  I believe it comes on the underpants layers only, which is a bit of a bummer but still is really cute and only a $1L.

The hair we are both wearing through this post is the group gift from kMADd (link directly for the group), it comes in shades of blonde – 11 styles total. I highly recommend joining (and staying) in this group as you get good info about their sales and also great group gifts from time to time.

 

Malt Milkshake

.:Malt:. just moved their mainstore to a brand new sim. Until the 28th there is a sim-wide hunt with 10 items from Malt and 5 from Spork, each 50L.  I haven’t had a chance to do it yet and also found that several other blogs had covered the items, if you check Malt Fashions blog there are links to other sites.  There is also a freebie tunic that will be out the duration of the hunt and is a perfect addition to your spring/summer wardrobe.

I’ve paired it with a vest from Armidi randomly and kind of liked how it turned out (shrug).  It’s $145 but I’ve had it since like May or June of last year and it’s by far my favorite vest.

This second tunic was just sent out to her SOM, to sign up simply walk into the mainstore, it’s right in front.  Then click again and go to history to find it.  The ears I’m wearing throughout are ones I previously blogged from Sn@tch.
