1 Corinthians 13:4–8a “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

We all have loved, seen love, found love, long for love and what makes us all feel some sense of fulfilment is loving or being loved. Love is some sought of a mystery and we try to explain in whichever way suits us. I feel like it all goes back to the feeling in the heart and hence my title today ‘Moyo Mashine’ which means the heart is a machine.

Love is a feeling that comes from the heart, we do not have much control over it. Loving is already predetermined by the heart. This thought came to me as I was listening to this song ‘Moyo Mashine” by Ben Pol from Tanzania.

This song had me by its beat and the way Ben Pol has such a smooth tone to his voice. I mean this guy spells out his heart just from the breath and sound of his voice. Initially, I never thought of it as to have quite a deep meaning more than just the sound in the song. I must say this is the most beautiful song he has done to date. Am in love with his sincerity and genuineness in it.

He begins by explaining how he has given his heart out fully to this one girl, he is afraid of that day he will realize he may have been played. He has become a fool and he is more like a prisoner, somewhere he never thought he will be before. He is in with it no matter what people say.

This verse caught my attention,  love is not all about the words with speak but by action. “When a dumb person is in love how will they speak without action? Even when you tell a deaf person you love them they won’t hear. I don’t know why I love you, I cannot say but I just do.”

My heart skipped a bit when I first saw you. You didn’t have to talk, laugh, I just saw you. I didn’t know how you would behave. Don’t be surprised when you love your heart is blinded. My heart did not tell me what they loved.

Between my new job and crazy schedule and life happenings I have been a no show 😦 . I had to do this though. Among all the best or should I say greatest biopic I have watched was the New Edition biopic. Am an oldies girl but I had no freaking idea of how great this group were since way before I was born. In fact they were among the G.O.A.T if I must say.

I can go on and on about the biopic , I haven’t seen something so amazing in a while. I mean I can do it over and over again like my best movie of all time P.S I Love You( did I say I watched it for the 10th now and still counting, sucker for love huh?), anyway I digress.

Most of us millennials miss out on such amazing music from the oldies. It’s quite something when we get to know of such greatness like we had from the past. Not that I had never listened to New Edition before but it brought them out in a new light. I got to see their story and relate to their greatness. Thinking about it am having goose bumps all over me and am all sweaty in this cold, ha!.

One of the most goose bump oozing song I listened to was

“Can you stand the rain?”

“Sunny days everybody loves them tell me baby can you stand the rain? storms

I can’t get enough of this, it’s so easy for people in life to be there when everything is great but you may find yourself alone when the storm comes. I came across an acoustic rendition by Kanjii, now if you haven’t been listening to the acoustic sessions its time you did .

There comes a point in life when things are coming to an end. At times we want to hold on with every little bit of strength we have even when our palms cant hold on much longer. See it’s difficult for we as humans when transitioning to a new phase that we cannot avoid.

One of the best Chris Brown songs I have grown attached to is “Autumn Leaves” on which  he featured Kendrick Lamar. You all know about Chris Brown and his ability to make you  fall in love with a song and his vocals, and to top it up with a rap from Kendrick, amazing. In this slow and goose bump revealing song, Chris expresses himself about his relationship and how it’s getting to a point it feels like its getting to the end . He compares it to autumn, a beautiful season transitioning  summer into winter.

“If you leave this time I fear that you’ll be gone for good, so I hold on like leaves and fall to what is left”..He begins

Many a times we get ourselves into friendships and relationships that are tough to handle and ruin us. It makes it even more difficult to leave when you value the individual despite the negatives they have in your life. You hold on so much because you don’t want to leave them and cannot imagine not having them in your life. At times you don’t want to be a disappointment to this individual you love since they may have gone through something tragic in the past.

Chris in this song talks about how he wouldn’t want to leave this lady like her father left. He had promised this would be forever for them in a tone similar to the one the dad used to promise her he would be back. He is trying to hold on to what is left in their relationship despite it being her fault their relationship is fading.

“I’ve been bleeding in your silence, I feel safer in your violence”

From this you can get that he is hurting from the silent treatment and would rather have a fight to get some kind of interaction .

He goes on and on till Kendrick comes with his verse. In his verse he talks about so much of how at times we try to hard to please others and make it work disregarding ourselves. He picks on criticizing how people may not see our value until we break out and shine.In this verse he talks to Chris asking him to rise above the critics and come out strong. He talks about how no matter how tough we look or seem at times we go through so much and have to make tough decisions. We all sin and at times we don’t know how to resolve our issues, he advices that we pray about it. He explains further how despite our shortcomings God still values and listens to us, so it’s up to us to come out strong.

Everyone wants to be happy. We all have dreams, goals ambitions or whatever you want to name it at the end of the day the end result is we being happy.

It’s just about 18 days till I turn a year older. So much has been going especially since this year began. I decided to live a different kind of life. Tired of all the crazies in my life, non-fulfilling relationships and so much of an un-fulfilling life, I decided to reshape my life.

I decided to go to church more read the bible more and do things that influence my life positively. I know its barely a month since the year began
