Aloha, You Are Perfect

Yoga is a practice of humanity. Conscious movement on the mat translates to conscious movement in life. Yoga teaches us to be our highest Self as lovers, parents, children, siblings, co-workers, teachers, students, citizens and friends.

The definition of Yoga is “to yoke”, to unite. In our practice, we unite with our highest Self, the Divine. When we devote ourselves to wholeness (holiness) within, our entire life experience shifts. Ease, simplicity, service and compassion become the cornerstones of our existence. From this, we experience joyful connection with other holy beings.

The first Sanskrit mantra I ever learned was this:

Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu 
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
May the thoughts, words and actions of my own life
Contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all

I chant this daily in honour of my teachers and a world that inspires me to live freely, happily and kindly. Yoga has given me a lifetime of love, and this is why I teach Yoga.

    I have a question for you. I know you probably make a lot of green juices etc. I have always made mine with carrots, apples etc. Now that I am adding spinach, kale etc it get this awful brown color. I look at “green drink” recipes and they look so beautiful and vibrant green. If you know the secret to that beautiful green end result, please let me know.

    • What a great question! The colour of your juices depend on what you’re putting in, so if you’re mixing greens with a lot of fruit, you’re bound to get a brownish colour.

      I typically juice only greens (e.g. cucumber, celery, kale, broccoli, etc) because fruit juice consumed alone can be too much sugar for your system (I consider them my once in awhile “treat” juices!).

      The beautiful green comes from a green base, so try to keep the majority of the juice vegetable-based. I personally like it unsweetened, but adding a lemon, pear or green apple cuts the bitterness of the juice!

      My daily potion consists more-or-less of: 1-2 cucumbers, few stalks celery, few stalks kale, broccoli stems, small root ginger, and an optional lemon, pear or apple to taste!

      • Thank you thank you thank you 🙂 !!! That is my issue, I add berries etc. I should have known but I thought the greens would still remain. I will do as you suggested and keep it all green. I do watch my sugar intake as well and try to keep it as minimal as possible. Yes, please do a post on green juices. Even as a nutritionist, I am still experimenting with juicing and recipes.   51. You have what is easily the coolest “about” page of any I’ve seen! You made me smile with your infectious joy and energy. I hope you are enjoying your time in New Mexico – it’s a beautiful place. I used to go there alot during the 12 years I lived in Colorado. If you have a chance, make sure you go to the Bisti Badlands in the NW corner of the state – it’s like being on another planet.

      • Don’t just google the bisti badlands – make sure you go there! It can be especially marvelous during the winter when the skies are more dramatic. But COLD!

        Your tree picture (in Maui) makes me laugh. I need to do more stuff like that when I travel.

    ive been doing yoga for coming up to 20 years now…but i changed the standard asanas to suit my life, by adding chi kung….the combination is magical!
    i too love travel…ive covered most of the USA, from west to east, england, greece, italy, france, poland, former USSR, india, pakistan, kenya…my dream is to get to japan…ive never been there!
    im based in BC, canada….
