This feels appropriate for my 1,000th comic.

And 1,000 comics feels like an appropriate place to end.

Back in 2013, when I first started reproducing and posting my in-class white board doodles here, I had no idea how far I would go or how many comics I would post. Tabula Candida has been part of my life for over a decade now, and it has been a wonderful adventure. It has seen me through good times and bad, through years of teaching, tenure, multiple books, a pandemic, and an intercontinental move. There have been a few comics I’m proud of, that I hope speak to other people, whether in or out of academia. There have been many more that are probably not funny or even comprehensible to anyone but me.

I’m grateful to all of you who have been here with me, whether for a decade or for a comic or two. You’ve been a wonderful audience, and I’ll miss you.

For now, you can still find me posting about history, geeky stuff, and whatever else flits through my brain at Co-Geeking, where my wife and I jointly blog about our interests. If I have a flash of inspiration and want to make another comic one of these days, that’s where I’ll post it.

But from the heart, I now say: thank you, good luck, and farewell.
