September Travels π€
Greetings from this side of town to all my fellow bloggers from around the globe. Hope everyone had a great month. September to me was full of surprises. Travelling to two new countries in a span of a week was not expected at all. So grateful for the opportunity to be selected amongst a few for a writing retreat in Sri Lanka was a dream come true indeed. An all expense paid adventure and self care retreat was what I needed. My prayers were answered at such an unexpected moment (the best feeling ever). The island was beautiful with all its skyscrapers in the city of Colombo and developments all around.
The humidity, the people, food and surroundings was an experience. Making new friends from across Asia and the Pacific that were part of the retreat, sharing experiences and igniting a passion to write without judgment or fear was what we all needed regardless of what background, religious beliefs we came from, it was a much needed one and we all so deserved to be there.

The activities planned included night watching at a nearby sanctuary for a tree dwelling animal called Loris, that was a sight to see. Hiking to the famous Lions Rock in Sigiriya in the early morning was an experience I will never forget, that indeed was a highlight for me. Doing yoga twice in the morning was such an achievement for me as I stayed consistent and showed up to all the activities provided.

The Amaya lake resort we stayed in was the perfect setting for the retreat as you were surrounded by nature and the ever so magnificent view of the Kandalama lake with the sounds of birds all around & the mountain backdrop was just priceless. A minute walk from my room with that view brought me to tears.

Then transiting to and from Sydney for the very first time as Australia was always a country I wanted to visit when I was a child. To see the opera house and Sydney harbor bridge was a dream come true for me π€

It was such a great feeling to be amongst powerful women figures from Fiji who I grew up reading about that I just had to take a pic with them. Women leaders in their own right- Virisila Buadromo and Mere Nailatikau.

I have been so blessed to travel this month and network with 24 other amazing people, the laughs, sharing, and adventures we all had. Truly thankful to the organisers for a well planned event.
Just a brief September write up and I wish every fellow blogger a great new month ahead. Despite all that is happening around us-Keep Dreaming, Keep believing & keep Smiling!
Fiji A Legend Lives On π

As a person born and raised in the islands of Fiji, I have always had such great love for George Fiji’s music growing up. It blasted through the air waves of our local radio station to our homes, in the school bus or at a gathering nearby. Fiji was an icon a proud son of Fiji. His voice and talent was like no other.
Years later as I began working as a journalist in Fiji, one of my goals was a chance to interview him on one of his trips back home that would have been an honor but it never happened. I was abroad last year when he organised his “Homecoming concert” in Nadi Fiji an event I wish I would have attended and had planned to attend this year and ask a family friend of his if I could take a picture with Fiji backstage after the concert. Sadly that will never happen.
However my Bubu was lucky enough on her trip in 1991 to Hawaii, met up with a young and slim Fiji in Waikiki beach and the Fijian community there. Now a picture of great memories, how lucky was she.

My sisters also had a chance to take a pic below with him in the early 2000’s when he was performing in California.

He was farewelled today in the capital Suva, a fitting memorial for a life and legacy well lived. Me and my bubu watched his live memorial service and later listened to some of his greatest hits on TV.
Thank you for your music Fiji, a true Pacific Legend whose music will live on forever. Rest Easy π
Koe Kia Niue π³πΊ

After one year and 6 months of living and working on the paradise island of Niue, I am back home now. Awaiting what the next chapter and season of my life will bring.
Its been an experience of a lifetime, adapting to the local culture and traditions, the daily routines that I have come to enjoy, working 4 days in a week in a very laid back enviornment seems like the ultimate dream job, it was but I came for the island experience of wanting to live by the ocean to hear the crash of the waves every morning was a priceless moment indeed.
Although I missed home cooked meals so much with the costly prices of fruits and vegetables I quickly had to learn as I settled in when I first arrived. I learnt to navigate on my own for the first time and I did adapt, I was proud of having my own space with all the ammenties provided, paid rent, cooked and cleaned. The hardest part was cooking and that took alot of effort and discipline I must say. All in all the island experience was worth it.
I leave feeling accomplished knowing I worked hard contributing to the islands productivity in the media field. I have met amazing people and shared good moments with them both young and old. I hope I have made an impact with the stories I’ve told in the community.

I hope to visit Niue again and I sincerely thank my employers for an opportunity of a lifetime to live in Paradise-The Rock of Polynesia!

Another Legend passes

Rest well Angie Stone, another Legend gone too soonπ listening to some of her classics brings back so many memories of my upbringing. May justice be served & truth will be revealed!
Month of Miracle π
Bula fellow bloggers its been a while since I dropped by. Hope all is well on your side of town. February has been a miracle month for me and my family. My mom visited Fiji for the first time in a surprise visit after almost 30 years abroad in the United States.
My mother left when I was 8 years old and all my life my grandma took on the role of raising me and my sister. A great reunion indeed, one we never knew would really happen but it did. Years of Praying that my mom would finally visit Fiji finally happened last month and I am in awe of GOD’s faithfulness and goodness to me and my family.
2025 has just begun and with this amazing reunion, I don’t want anything else for this year as this is more than enough for me.
My mom enjoyed her two weeks visit home, spending time with family and indulging in all the tasty seafood and everything in season. I’m glad she got to take the much needed break from work and just rest her body.
So my fellow bloggers out there, no matter how long it takes for something to happen, keep Praying & believing because at the right time it shall come to pass!
Happy Marvelous March Everyone βοΈπ΄
