And the reason it isn't finished, I tell myself, is that I don't like the rest of the room. It has / had a horrible dark pinky-red carpet and naff stripey wallpaper and a crappy floral suite.
So I said to Himself "I can't possibly marry someone who makes me live like this!"
He said fine then don't, which wasn't quite the outcome I was expecting so I ripped up the carpet and put it out in the rain.
"Ah ha!" I said "What are you going to do about that eh?"
"Nothing" he said "What are you going to do about it?"
He's getting just a bit difficult.
"You're getting just a bit difficult" I said.
When he'd finished laughing and rolling about the floor and wiped his eyes and nose and then composed himself enough for speech, he said,
"We'll tile it, then you can't bloody roll them up and throw them out just because you decide on a whim you don't like them HA!"
So what d'you think?

No, I prefer the carpet. Re-lay it immediately.
And get that chimney built, before the winter starts (that would be August, the way this summer's going).
Well I like it, but I'd put a rug on it, so you can laze on the floor in front of the fire, when you finish that.
At least you can now have a night on the tiles without going out.
fnar fnar!
Carpet Diem!
The glistening tiles are luverly, they won't absorb and conceal billions & billions of microbial pathogens like the carpet did, and it so easy to maintain.
I wish that your 'showdown' with Himself was on Youtube so that we could have enjoyed every nuance of your psychological dismantling of the man's resolve.
This wasn't about flooring!
It never really is, is it?
It's crying out for a party.
I could do with the same effect in my kitchen. Do you hire him out? x
excellent choice! a neutral, easy care floor you can accessorize with area rugs!
i agree-that pinkie carpet had to go, y'all. now get started on the damn stripey wallpaper!
*shines 'style cop' badge*
lady diy rockin the house!
I would REALLY like to have a Guiness or whatever beer Himself enjoys with him at the corner pub.
That looks spectacular. So are you happy with it and are you going to marry him or not?
Or maybe the question is, is he going to marry YOU or not?
Ha Ha Ha Ha!

rob - thank you - rug ordered
murph - absolutely, I had a practice last nite and a headache this morning - worked a treat.

WW - You can visit anytime! We have a choice of 4 pubs within staggering distance, he usually drinks whatever anyone buys him!
Great tiles! I want some for the new porch which is currently in its 3rd year of development & I'm fairly optimistic about laying them before the next election - maybe..
Just don't slip over on your bum and add to your injury tally!
