The Blog post that I am presenting for this week is a reprint of my original WP public submission on April 18, 2019. God only knows what awesome and blessed experiences I was privileged to witness and participate in as I served the people (mostly children) in an orphanages in Hanoi, Vietnam.
It is my sincere desire to someday revisit that part of the world to see just how far The Good Lord has brought his precious little ones.
Beautiful Hanoi Children
COME, take a stroll with me down memory lane. I want to revisit with you a memorable conversation I had with the Lord while on an international 7-day mission trip to Hanoi, Vietnam in 2013. In retrospect, God caused me to realize that Vietnam is a country whose wheels turn more slowly; patience and perseverance and resilience among travelers and visitors are the key; being flexible; and finally, understanding that time is not money…relationship-building is!
The mission trip had been organized by Buckner International, a world-wide humanitarian organization that establishes, operates and funds orphanages in many countries all over the world. Our mission team consisted of just eight dedicated travelers on a maiden voyage to Hanoi, Vietnam. Our mission was to deliver new shoes, a few personal items, and some school and medical supplies to the abandon children, at the orphanage, many on the side of the road. We were also to teach English as a second language, and serendipitously instill the love of Christ to all persons we met along the way.
Reprinted below is my conversation with the Lord about an assignment given to me by our Buckner tour guide. Realizing that the people of Hanoi, Vietnam believed in Buddhism, I was surprised when the Holy Spirit led me to deliver our group’s private morning devotions from Acts 19:10. You see, I knew that our permanently assigned Vietnam government officials (who holstered two guns and a rifle) who shadowed us everywhere we went, would be in attendance. And Buckner officials had been forewarned not to apotheosize while in the country.
Well, after being reassured that it was permissible for our group to hold private prayer meetings in our hotel during breakfast, I further questioned the Lord as to why he wanted me to present the gospel from Acts 19, knowing that a Buddhist believer would be in attendance. I asked the Lord why He had in a dream forbidden Paul to preach the Word in Asia and instead to go over to Macedonia . Was it because of Confucianism and Buddhism which had been worshiped in that region long before Jesus Christ was born.
The Holy Spirit convicted me that I was wrong in my query. Paul would later preach throughout all of Asia (see Acts 19:19), (which Vietnam is a part of) and lay the foundation for such a time as this. Furthermore, I had no idea what God was up to. He actually told me, My child, this trip is not about you, but about what I am about to do for a Buddhist believer in your mist. All you have to do is trust and obey.
The above title has been the pronouncement directed to the Holy Trinity by every Baptized Believer, every person of faith, and yes, by even you and me, more likely at the beginning of every new year. Did you know that such a pronounced statement denotes authority. So, for your information, a new year (2026) has arrived and is in a position to provide hope, gloom or doom. BUT WILL IT? IT WILL NOT!
Can you guess WHY?
Because as soldiers in God’s army, there are obligations and preparations that we, ourselves, must provide.
It’s called WWJD! What Would Jesus Do.
If you are like me, seemingly every day so far in this new year, total strangers felt led to approach me and engage me in conflicting conversations concerning the state of the USA union and other upsetting conversations that are voiced on local news outlets. This would often happen while I was engaged with my own personal activities.
I'm trying to get a relaxing pedicure. Congregants sought my opinions after church services! I was sometimes engaged in conversation while in my exercise class. And, boy, was I surprised to learn how much interest the young people had in politics and current events. Go figure!!!
May I direct your attention to a paraphrased version of Matthew 10:2-10 (…as Jesus speaks to his original twelve disciples.) They, too, thought they were ready to hear what thus says the Lord.
“There shall be no gold, silver, or copper to fill your purse, no pack for the road, no second coat, no shoes, no stick…(WHY?)…the worker earns his keep. Or perhaps “I” should say, the worker (indubitably) MUST earn his/ her keep!
In other words, when you are asked by anyone to stand in the gap (or shoes) for the SON of God, be sure…be very sure your opinions reflects the mindset of Christ Jesus. That is, having the wisdom of a serpent (Like Matthew 10:16 puts it) in order to survive as a sheep of the Father in the midst of ravenous wolves. Therefore, it is imperative when you pray about current events and life issues at the beginning of a new year, in general to remember what Jesus has promised already that “Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you”. John 16:23.
I hope your 2025 yearend holidays and your 2026 New Year’s Celebration were fulfilling!
Also, here’s hoping you will start your day with some joyful and smooth Holiday music. Just click the scene below, sit back and enjoy! After being filled with ecstasy, click it off and return to reading the Part 2.
Last week, on Friday, December 26, 2025, I printed Part 1 of this saga and sent it along your way by mode of WordPress. To refresh your memory, scale down to the bottom of this blog page to the word “Related” and click the title for Part 1.
TITLE: Buried Sordid Memories Exhumed (Continued from Part 1)
The first few lessons were conducted on our street. Mr. Wilson would allow me to drive about five blocks up to the elementary school's parking lot, turn around and drive back, passing my house for another ten blocks in the opposite direction. All the while, Mr. Wilson would instruct me on the proper driving habits I was to employ: lower your left arm straight out the window when making a left turn; raise your arm at the elbow when making a right turn; and hang your arm straight down when slowing down or stopping. Mr. Wilson would always show me how to maneuver my feet on the break, clutch and gas peddle as I operated the stick-shift throttle. His way of 'showing me' was to place his hands on my knee and apply pressure.
When I would make a mistake such as to cause the car to vibrate because the clutch was not applied properly or to stall out due to the fact that I gunned it, Mr. Wilson never raised his voice to reprimand me. He just placed his hands on my knee and applied pressure.
In time I learned how to synchronize all the pedals and was actually driving pretty good. One Sunday afternoon, Mr. Wilson suggested that I continue driving past the elementary school and proceed up the hill towards the baseball park. This route proved to be somewhat of a challenge for me because of the twists and turns in the steep road. Fear overtook me and my grip on the steering wheel displayed white knuckles and my upper teeth bit down over my lip with extreme force. My body was rigid and my breathing laborious as I leaned towards the windshield struggling to take each curve as smoothly as I could.
As the road leveled off I sighed with relief and began to relax as I attempted to transfer my right foot from the clutch pedal to the gas pedal. But I couldn't! Something was holding my leg in place. For a half second, I took my eyes off the road and looked down at my knee. To my surprise, my dress was up around my waist and Mr Wilson's hand was on the inside of my right thigh. I screamed bloody murder!!
I raised both my hands off the steering wheel and desperately tried to jump out of my side of a moving car. Mr. Wilson was yelling some words of apology and struggling to get control of the steering wheel with one hand and pulling me back into the moving car with the other.
Somehow, between the two of us, we were able to bring the vehicle under control and I veered off the road and onto the entrance curb of the baseball field. (Of all the Sunday afternoons, the playing field was empty of any activity.) I looked over at Mr Wilson and he was crying real tears. He started talking real fast saying something about being sorry and that all he was trying to do was to help me apply the right amount of pressure to the pedals so as not to burn up his new car. His display of emotions caused me to believe him at the time. And immediately I thought that perhaps I had over-reacted and imagined something that did not actually happen. I adjusted my skirt and we both composed ourselves as we sat in deafening silence.
Finally, I asked Mr. Wilson to drive us home but he insisted that I remain behind the wheel, back the car up and proceed home. As I drove, he continuously complimented me on my newly acquired driving skills and compared me and my accomplishments with his unassuming and timid wife. He built up my confidence real good and I began to feel special. But the payoff was he offered to let me use his car when I went to the DMV office to take my driving test. He reasoned that I would be more familiar with his car than my dad's car because I had learned on the Chevrolet. Honestly, I wanted nothing more to do with Mr. Wilson, but what would my parents think if I refused his generous offer.
When I arrived at my front door, I resolved to go into the house with a big smile on my face. I had already convinced myself that this incident had never taken place. That nothing had happened out of the ordinary. Who would have believed me anyway? (Back in the day, if a neighbor caught another neighbor's child misbehaving, the neighbor had the consent of the parents to discipline that child.)
So my secret remained buried all of these years until now. Thank you, Ms. Opal, for helping to remove that skeleton from the closet of a frightened teenage girl.
The Holy Spirit Is Upon Me And Has Given Me Peace
The Bible absolutely has something to say about how to overcome past hurts and sordid memories. In 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 you will find the answer. Read it and weep! God sent his Son, Christ Jesus, to take away all miseries and sorrows from everyone who proclaims the Name of his Son and walks in His light. With the aide of the Holy Spirit it only takes one (person) to teach one (another).
There are no ‘big’ sins and ‘little’ sins. And there is nothing you (personally) can do to draw you closer to God. Jesus PAID it all. And it is all to Him you and I owe. The only thing we have to do is to cover ourselves with His pure sinless blood. Remember, even if a wrongful act took the life of someone you knew or loved, if that person was already blood-stained(*) when they died, that is, covered with the blood of Jesus, The Father will welcome them home.
So, now you know. Start seeing your life through God’s transformation eyes. Remove your cataracts in both eyes. Cast your hope on things eternal, on godly thoughts offering freedom from shame and identity tied to past sins. This process hinges on steadfastness and intentionally dwelling on God’s truth and not on the enemies of darkness and finding freedom from past lies that shaped you, not just the sin all by itself.
When something is deferred it means that you will have to wait until a future time to ascertain the conclusion of the matter. So, this child had to wait what seemed like a lifetime.Below is PART ONE of this blog post. PART TWO will be featured/printed/posted on JANUARY 2, 2026
Earlier in my blogging career, I somehow found the nerve and the courage to recall a childhood incident that had haunted my memory ever since it happened eons ago. So, as I matured in sacred things and acquired a deeper understanding of how Christianity, God and Jesus Christ worked in someone’s life, I would sometimes inquire of the Holy Spirit why had He allowed certain situations to happen in my life.
Now that I have lived to surpass the age of a mid-octogenarian, I have earned the privilege and the maturity to know the truth about a childhood sordid incident that I now can unabashedly(*) blog about.
TITLE: Buried Sordid Memories Exhumed
As originally told by the Author of "Conversations With God Using Scripture"
What you are about to read, I have never revealed to a single solitary soul. Dead or alive. It has been just my sordid secret for these past years and would have remained so had it not been for a single sheet of paper handed to me by my writing teacher.
"I want everyone here in class to look down this list of subjects and select one to write about for our next week's memoirs class," Ms. Opal said, as she personally doled out the assignments to each aspiring writer on that overcast morning in June at Richardson Senior Center Building.
Quickly, I glanced at the list and started to set it aside when suddenly a cold shiver penetrated my body. I almost dropped dead as I read the tenth writing suggestion. What's with this, I thought as my eyes focused in on the bold printing on the page. Cautiously, I allowed myself to peak again at the words which read, "How did you learn to drive? Describe your first car."
My mind voluntarily began to race backwards: passing early retirement; passing gainful employment; passing raising two kids; passing ending a troubled marriage; passing various institutions of learning; passing high school senior proms and giddiness and dreams. Oh no...I'm fifteen again!
I can actually smell the leather upholstery and feel the round glass knob on top of the stick-shift- throttle of Mr. Wilson's newly purchased 1950 black Malibu Chevrolet. I have to write about my secret incident, I thought, if I am ever going to free myself of the guilt feelings which I had buried in my subconscious mind for all of these many years.
When I was a kid in my hometown in mid-America, my dad promised my brothers and sisters that we could all learn to drive his car when we turned sixteen. Well, I had an older sister that would turn 16 in one more month. But she exhibited no interest in learning how to drive. All she did was study, study, study. You see she was a junior in high school with only one more year to go before college. And she was wickedly serious about maintaining her grade-point average and qualifying for nursing school. I was the second oldest and and in that same year, in November, I turned 15. But since my older sister had let the whole summer go by without learning how to drive, my daddy would not teach me before her when the following summer arrived.
No amount of begging and pleading would convince my dad to acquiesce and take pity on me. Finally I appealed to momma, and through her, dad finally agreed to allow our neighbor, Mr. Wilson, to take me out on Sunday afternoons for a one hour driving lesson. I was so excited because Mr. Wilson had just bought a new-used Chevrolet and his wife was afraid to learn how to drive a stick shift. This was an opportunity for me to prove how brave I was in everybody's eyes.
PART 2 OF THIS BLOG "God Is An Awesome God" will be published on Friday, January 2, 2026
(*) NOTE: Not embarrassed or ashamed about openly expressing strong feelings or opinions.
If you had to describe this picture what would be the title? Seemingly, what is the little boy’s task?
Did you know that in most instances, the word ‘yoke’ is used in a negative terminology? Yet, our Lord and Savior used it to describe His personality in the following scripture reference:
The scripture “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” is found in Matthew 11:30, where Jesus invites weary people to find rest by taking His yoke and learning from His gentle heart. In other words, God does not allow any situation to get on his last nerve. God promises spiritual refreshment, contrasting His light, well-fitting way with the heavy burdens of religious and political rule (way of life).
I blogged on this subject a little in last week’s blog entitled “God’s Mode Of Operation — Eternal Tranquility. (Since ‘tranquil’ means only being in a serene frame of mind for a short period of time, the secret of prolonging that frame of mind is to become “YOKED” with God.)
YES! Become yoked with God. Learn of God! Walk closely with God! Wear your Yoke proudly under any and all circumstances! And especially during this Yuletide Season(*), let Mary, the pregnant virgin girl and blessed mother of the Christ Child be your example.
Did you know that many traditions see their local church or the collective Church (the People of God) as a representation or foretaste of the heavenly New Jerusalem described in Revelation, symbolizing God’s dwelling with His people, a spiritual reality that finds fulfillment in the ultimate heavenly eternal city. It’s a concept with varying interpretations, ranging from a symbolic people (the saints) to a future physical place where all redeemed people reside. Wear your yoke proudly and walk in sync (together) with the Heavenly Father. God will not lead you astray.
Have you ever been on a vacation and wished you could remain their forever? Now, within that same frame of mind, can you continue imagining doing a lot of good for a host of other human beings?
Do you realize or understand that this state of being which you(*) have entered is called/classified as ‘the state of tranquility’. But what is more complexing is that it will not last. The very spelling of its name gives you a clue. The prefix ‘tran’ at the beginning of the word denotes ‘change’. Therefore, the meaning of the state of mind you currently find yourself in will only last for a short time. (Other words relative to this example are transient, transfer, translate…similar words denoting a change is coming.)
Now let’s return to those beautiful, dreamy vacation thoughts and your desire to remain there forever. For there you had allowed yourself to enter into a state of being calm, peaceful and free from stress, worries or disturbances of any kind. A feeling of serene contentment you get from a quiet natural setting.
I experienced that feeling of serenity once, but honestly, it did not last very long. Once I returned to everyday life, blindly, I started picking up every day ‘life’ stuff. My nerves were a wrecking ball, my stomach was disagreeable and started rejecting everything I ate. The telephone began allowing every tele-a-marketer on earth to call me and I had another milestone birthday that caused me to become eligible to receive literature from the Octave Online Therapy Clinic. Enough already!
It was about that time when the Holy Spirit decided to visit me and come to my rescue.
My child, the Holy Spirit began...What does the Bible say about finding tranquility? Does it not talk about an inner sense of calmness that "surpasses all understanding" (Philippians 4:7)
I heard you when you talked about allowing yourself to enter into a state of being calm, peaceful and free from stress. But when our Lord and Savior asked you while in that state of tranquility, could you imagine yourself doing a lot of good for a host of other human beings, you did not answer Him. In 1st Peter 3:11, it says, "Let him (or her) turn away from evil, and do good. Let him (or her) seek peace, and pursue it."
And another thing, you never really asked The Father why tranquility doesn't last. If while you were bathing in the sun and dreaming instead of picking up your Bible you would have read in Proverbs 14:30-35 that "A heart of tranquility (is) life (to the) flesh, but causes bones of passion to rot. He who oppresses the poor insults Him who made him,..."
My prayer for us all:
Dear heavenly Father, through this revealing conversation with You, You have once again reminded me of an unfinished encounter I had with the Holy Spirit. I wish to thank You for leaving no stone unturned in my life. The more I study Your word and receive understanding of how to trust and obey You, my life is more and more worth living.
I rejoice in the blessings I receive from Your love and patience with me. And in recognizing that there are so many ways I am not worthy to receive them. Please forgive me, Heavenly Father, and try me one more time. I sincerely pray that I will never be too far away from Your presence. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, my Strength and Redeemer, Amen and Amen
What do you know about cars? For one thing, did you know how inefficient they are? I had to laugh when I learned that cars take up a huge amount of space on this planet but get driven around mostly empty. (If you don’t believe me, just take a look to your right and left the next time you come to a stop sign or traffic light.)
Government statistics have reported that private cars driven in the U.S. carries only 1.6 people per trip! So, what we can conclude about cars is that they mostly just sit there, parked in the garage, the driveway, or the street. But, not withstanding, they demand a large portion of your hard earned operating cash!
Okay, I know what you are thinking; what does the above information have to do with having a conversation with God? (I’m so glad you asked.) Well, what I am about to share with you for this week’s blog is a belated conversation that I almost had forgotten to revisit with my Lord some 60 years later, because I had not repented nor thanked Him for His long arm of protection He provided in an area He is definitely an expert in…time perspective.
Here is how I view God travels in style and not in happenstance…
A long time ago, a young but legally of age driver drove his loaded-down car in which I was a passenger 60 years ago. The driver's wife was in the front seat with him, and I was in the back seat. We were traveling a few miles above the speed limit, but our vision allowed us to see straight ahead as well as quick side glances of territories we were currently passing. In other words, the driver had only a 2 dimensional view of scenery that was leading him towards his destination...what was likely to come into view and what had already come into view.
Suddenly, we approached a sharp bend in the road. Just beyond the bend, the highway went into a deep downward slope that allowed the car to accelerate and go even faster down hill. To everyone's horror, the hood of the car came unlatched and flew backwards covering the whole front windshield and blinding the driver's view. We all begin screaming and yelling. 'Stop the car, slow down and stop the car!' Fortunately, the driver managed to maneuver the car off the road and to safety. No harm done. We tied the hood down and continued on our way.
Years later, when I was much more mature and assessing my life with a spiritual barometer, the Holy Spirit spoke to me in the vernacular of God being a safe-stylish driver. He brought back the memory of a frightened girl in the back seat of a car. ME! The Holy Spirit said to me, do you remember wiping your eyes after that situation was over. Well, that was Me comforting you and quietly instructing the driver to use more precaution and adhere to the speed limit. I also shut his wife's mouth so that she did not scold him afterwards. Remember?
During that whole mysterious conversation I want you to know, I did none of the talking. I just listened, cried softly and began to thank God for his strong arm of protection. I also asked for forgiveness for my slothfulness in returning to give thanks.
The Holy Spirit ended His time with me by saying, My Child, I always know where I am going, the condition of the roads and the direction I want to take. In fact, I go directly to My destination and then look at whom I will call to travel on the road; in what state they will arrive at their destination; and what effect their adventure will bear on their lives to come. I'M THE NASCAR DRIVER OF THE UNIVERSE! I TRAVEL IN STYLE!
Always remember the Lord will carry us in His arms where ever we want to go as long as we trust and obey him.
My Prayer For You.
My Dearest Lord, You speak to me in so many different ways -- through other people, through Your Word and through the written word. I Thank You that I can write these things down so that they will not be lost. It is so like the words of Jeremiah 30:1-2: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you." Amen and Amen
This blog post will conclude our time together exploring nine of the colors that dominate the creation story in the Bible. The final three colors featured here in Part Three of “God’s Holy Word Has Something To Say About Colors” are: Purple, Green and Pink. Needless to say, this has been one of the most fascinating adventures that the Holy Spirit has taken me on. And for that I am truly grateful.
The Color Purple
Did you know that the KJV of the Bible refers to the color PURPLE 48 times! Most likely what contributed to its high demand was its popularity, absorbent expense to manufacture it and exclusivity to obtain the knowledge of how to convert this color into a dye. In ancient times, only society’s affluent, the higher echelon of the clergy, royal deity, and high government officials could afford to adorn themselves in purple attire.
The ingredients to produce purple comes from the stinky glands of snails (scientifically known as mollusks) which emerged themselves at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. The procedure to extract just one pound of retail dye from snails during the ancient Roman Empire days, was for sailors/fishermen to catch and extract the glands from more than four million mollusks. This procedure was because each snail gland only produced one drop of the fluid needed to make this precious dye.
I am quite sure you are all familiar with the famous bible story found in Acts 16 about a merchant seller of purple garments named Lydia. She was a very spiritual and wealthy Philippians female entrepreneur who, as a gentile, believed in God’s morality laws. She was later converted to Christianity by the Apostle Paul.
Purple has come to associate it self with royalty, wisdom, luxury, and to possess visionary acumen.
The Color Green
I find that GREEN is the strongest of all the colors we have been studying in this lesson. It is also more descriptive of man’s character than the other eight colors. Why? Because Green denotes strength, growth, health, money, and healing…just to name a few attributes.
Listed below are scriptures that bear this out:
Psalm 23:1-2
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me besides the still waters.
Luke 23:31
For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry:
Ezekiel 17:24
All the trees of the forest will know that I the Lord bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish.
Psalm 37:2
For like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
The Color Pink
PINK is a universal color that is recognized as feminine, immature, romantic, beautiful and sensitive. As to how the color Pink relates to Scripture, pink is believed to represent the compassionatelove of God (for he gave his Only Begotten Son), and Jesus is also a friend to the friendless. And let us not forget the faithfulness of his Son who suffered, bled and died on the Cross for all mankind. (Words in italics are listed above in the color chart under the color Pink.
In the Holy Scriptures, the color‘PINK’ is believed to represent the Love of God. How? Because the color Red is Jesus’ blood and White is purity. Therefore, the combination of both colors turns out to be Pink!
(Researchers have concluded that little girls love pink. Little boys hate pink.)
My prayer for you…
Dear Sweet Jesus: You are so gracious, kind and understanding. I implore You to please forgive my slothfulness in not dedicating my new found life in You to serving you more earnestly. For truly, it is with sincere thanksgiving that I praise You for allowing me to stumble upon these truths concerning how Your assignment of various colors played an intrical part in helping mankind to understand the creation story. Who would have thought that by painting my bedroom a psychedelic red for all my teenage years could have contributed to my high blood pressure problems later in life. (If only I had known You then.)
Therefore, Heavenly Father, please continue to help me change my thoughts. Make me anew, Lord. For I not only want to be born again, but I want to be a new kind of thinker, too.
Help us, Lord…HELP!! In the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior I surrender all…Amen and Amen!!!
Scripture Lesson:“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.“ Colossians 3:2
As we continue to proceed with Part Two of “God’s Holy Word Has Something To Say About Colors”, I trust you have not only enjoyed Part One, but have learned something very interesting (based on their description) and gratifying concerning the election of various colors God chose to assign to his creation. And the beauty of God’s selection of colors is that he did not have to labor over nor give a great deal of thought to his assignments. That’s because God already knew what mental effects various colors would have on mankind’s physic and mental welfare.
So, let’s continue our study of colors by investigating ‘White’, ‘Back’ and ‘Gray’.
The Color White
In the Western cultures, especially in the Christian Holy Bible, the meaning for the color “WHITE” represents honesty, innocence, purity and cleanliness. But the one symbol that I find the most interesting is ‘hope’. Let’s review how in Genesis 30:25-43, Jacob (later called Israel) whose name means ‘supplanter‘, tricked his boss, Laban, into paying his wages in livestock.
Jacob proposed that Laban allow him to go through Laban’s flock and remove every spotted, blemished and speckled goat, lamb and sheep (livestock that was deemed unprofitable financially), and they be given to Jacob as his wages. By the way, Laban had changed Jacob’s wages ten times, but had never paid him a dime of it.
So, Jacob proposed to Laban that he separate his ‘worthless’ livestock and give them to him as his wages. Laban agreed. Unbeknownst to Laban, Jacob cut branches from poplar, almond and plane ole ordinary trees. He peeled the bark from the branches but allowed stripes of white inner bark to show through on the cut limbs. Next, Jacob, placed some of the branches in Laban’s watering troughs so that they would be directly in front of the livestock when they came to water and to mate.
The Holy Spirit did not communicate to me the meaning of Jacob’s actions, but suffice it to say that Jacob’s shenanigans worked out and flocks of little lambings and kiddings were born with streaks and speckles; enough to make Jacob a very rich herdsman. Those white streaks on the branches were the cause of it all. (And of course, God’s miraculous hand of intervention.)
The Color Black
“BLACK” is known as a sophisticated color. This hue is timeless and classic. It symbolizes strength and power. Black is also the most popular color in the advertising/signage world. There is also an air of mystery, disception and evil associated with this color. In scripture, God says that He formed the light (to depict righteousness) and he created the darkness (to be the consequence of disobedience, sin and trespasses. (Isaiah 45:7)
Black is also associated with our sins, moods of depression, loneliness and harboring pessimistic feelings of anger.
Question? So why do we say: “He/She told a little ‘white’ lie? Why isn’t the question; “He/she told a little ‘black’ lie?” Go figure!!!
The Color Gray
While the color black represents Good Friday in the Christian world, the color ‘GRAY’ represents the season of Lent and is closely associated with fasting and prayer. And naturally the color gray denotes repentance and maturity (Senior citizens).
In some circles, psychologists define gray as a color that fosters stability. It is preceived as being a neutral color and brings balance and harmony. At other times, gray adds sophistication to situations like being a go-between for the colors white and black.
Sometimes you hear people express a particular negative mood that they are in, such as: A gray mood or a melancholy mood. The root syllable for melancholy is ‘mel’ which denotes bad or evil and the ending is ‘holy’. Could this color silently signify that God is not pleased with our wishy-washy sacrifices of praise. (I’m just sayin’!!!)
PLEASE RETURN NEXT FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2022, FOR PART THREE OF THIS HIGHLY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE SUBJECT ON COLOR PSYCHOLOGY IN THE BIBLE. HOPEFULLY, MY RESEARCH ON THIS SUBJECT WILL HELP INCREASE YOUR BIBLICAL KNOWLEDGE ON HOW GOD EMPOWERED ALL OF US TO SEEK AND LEARN MORE ABOUT HIS GOODNESS AND MERCIES CONCERNING THE SECRETS OF CREATION.
My prayer for you
My Dear Lord and Savior, please make me willing and unashamed to witness to others about my relationship with You. Help me to develop scriptures along with my own life experiences around colors that can represent You in a mighty and truthful way. Empower me to show them Your marvelous will and Your loving precepts. Guide my enthusiasm and direct my search for resource materials like children’s bibles that come with colorful felt swatches of materials that will help me use colors in my delivery of Your truths. And then use those whom I have witnessed to and whom You have empowered with the Holy Spirit to spread the Gospel to their families, friends and communities. I ask it all in the precious Name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
Scripture Lesson:“Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him. “We have found the Messiah” (that is the Christ). John 1:40-41

Applying Color Psychology in Everyday Life…Part ONE of THREE
Have you every thought about just how much God’s choice of color for all of his vast creation affects man’s psychological persona and the recording of history? Well I have. When I began to write this post, I consulted the Holy Spirit on this subject and He reminded me of the vivid role a certain sea had at the culmination of what had been a benign relationship between two nations. That sea’s name was called…
TheRed Sea
In Exodus 15:4-5 NIV “Pharaoh’s chariots and his army he (God) has hurled into the sea. The best of Pharaoh’s officers are drowned in the Red Sea.”
Now take a look at the definition of “RED” in the color chart below and imagine how many incidents you can ascribe to the events in the Bible concerning the Red Sea. List some of the danger and excitement it caused. For instance, the daring trust and faith the Hebrew people had to place in God that the wind forces would hold back the waves. In addition to how the Hebrews felt, I am quit certain you can think of other emotions listed on the chart that Pharaoh’s army felt that affected their psychic. For after all, this conquest was a bloody one and that color is also red.
The Color Yellow
Yellow and the color gold are used interchangeably in the holy scriptures. This color mostly represents loyalty and suffering. Golden crowns are placed on kings heads and a person who is suffering from leprosy has a skin condition that has turned “YELLOW”. So joy, cheerfulness and loyalty are associated to kings, while caution and intelligent decision making are to be exerted when exposed to contagious diseases or fuels that expend energy and warmth, such as a blazing fire whose hue is described as yellow. Such traits are listed on the chart.
In Leviticus 13:32 NIV: “On the seventh day the priest is to examine the sore and if the itch has spread and there is no yellow hair in it and it does not appear to be more than skin deep, he must be shaved except for the diseased area, and the priest is to keep him in isolation another seven days.”
The Color Blue
Have you noticed that blue is the color of the sky as well as the color of deep waters here on earth. So the world is surrounded with the color blue. Therefore, when we look up at the endless span of space we can imagine a place where we can ascend and be far above all of our trails, worries, and disillusions. When we look deep into the blue sea or ocean or even the water in a fish tank, we can imagine floating away or sailing away or just wondering away from the havoc and destruction down here on this world. This color evokes peace, tranquility and calmness.
A number of Bible scholars have attributed the 7 colors of a rainbow with the 7 Names of God. Further more, they have assigned meaning to the 7 rainbow colors. The 7 colors of a rainbow are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. (The acronym “ROY G. BIV”) is a handy reminder for the rainbow color sequence.
I personally believe the Bible scholars took the time to ascribe meaning to the rainbow colors because there is no reference to the color BLUE in all of scripture. Since well documented miracles have been recorded about supernatural healings and the bearers of those miracles have also reported to doctors and historians that they imagined they saw a “blue” hue light glowing all around the phenomenon, the color blue took on character traits of having healing powers. Thus associated with one of the names for God: Jehovah-Rapha—The Lord Our Healer.
In Exodus 15:26 NIV: He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”
Be sure to meditate on all of the attributes of the color blue listed in the chart below. For they are ascribed in the Rainbow.
In Genesis 9:12, 13, 15b TNIV And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you (Noah) and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come. I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.” (Read the “Blue” list in the chart below and weep for joy. Hallelujah!!! and Amen!!!)
END OF PART ONE
PLEASE RETURN NEXT FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 2022, FOR PART TWO OF THIS HIGHLY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE SUBJECT ON COLOR PSYCHOLOGY IN THE BIBLE.
My prayer for you: Dear Heavenly Father, please make me into a child of the light. For I have put behind me the dark light of sin. Please continue to break me and mold me into the light of the Lord. Help me to expose sin and be willing to work on my relationships with other people. Most people realize that certain colors can affect one’s disposition and character. Do all that is necessary to make me an instrument of Thy peace. Help me to develop this biblical truth of recognition of various colors so that all will be able to connect to your invitation to a glorious life in You. Amen and Amen.
Scripture Lesson:“You were once darkness, but now you are light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)” Ephesians 5:8-9
