You Gotta Hit the Ground Running, So You Can Hit the Sky Flying!

We all know that reaching goals is never easy, but as hard as they are we must never give up on them, and follow that path to them, no matter how rocky it gets. Martin Luther King once said, “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, the walk. If you can’t run, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”

This is the thing we must always remember. No matter how big or small your goals are, no matter how big or small YOU are, we are always worth whatever it is we see for ourselves, and know we are worthy of the hugest dreams we can think of.

I once made a short video called Fly Like A Hummingbird, where I compared myself to small birds. I talked about how strong they are, even though they might be small. In it I said, ‘she (the hummingbird) has the freedom to go wherever she wants to, even though her wings and body may be very small, and she works very hard as she is building beautiful things, and keeps going no matter what.

She is still able to bear it when the fierce winds and storms come, and always gets to wherever she needs to go. So when I see a hummingbird, or a bird of any kind, I think of myself. Small of body, but strong of heart and will, and building beautiful things, and I hope that whoever is listening to this right now, sees themselves a one of the most beautiful creatures in the world too, because anyone with a good soul is beautiful, so keep building whatever you see, so you can fly wherever you want, and maybe, just maybe take a few of us with you!’

From the time I was born, I think I’ve had this somewhere deep in my soul, because I’ve been a fighter for my dreams ever since then, and I never let any one tell me I couldn’t do what I wanted to do. I may have had to do things in a different way, but I always find a way to make the positive impact I was meant to make in the world. When I was a little kid, my grandmother had a saying that made me laugh when I needed it. “Did you kiss Canada?” She used to say this to me when I fell down, but only after she knew I wasn’t hurt and as she picked me up she would say it, “Did you kiss Canada? You don’t have to miss it that much ya know, it’s right there.” Now that I’m grown, and she has been in the spirit world for over 20 years, I still want to tell her that I do still kiss Canada, but it’s not because I fell down, but because I help pick them up.

So, What are YOUR goals? Did you ever feel like maybe they are too far away or that it’s too tough to reach them? I have a lot of dreams in my life, and they are as huge as can be, and what I realized is that nothing is too big to dream, and we must always try to reach them, because when we go for our goals even if we feel nothing with will come of them, most of the time we find that we did reach them after all.

With this column, I hope that readers will find my little gems relatable or find some sort of encouragement, because the purpose of this column is to do just that.

Dreamers gonna dream, so go dream ‘em, and hit the ground running, so you can hit the sky flying.

Fly Away, Little Dreamer (‘Cause You Gotta Be a Big Dreamer)

Fly away, little dreamer to the great places you belong.

Let nothing break your wings, let us hear your song.

You are stronger than you think, you must ALWAYS keep singing.

Keep your voice strong and loud, ‘cause no one else has just what you’re bringing.

And what your talents bring creates love and light, just like the sun.

And we must make sure it brings comfort and warmth to everyone.

So, Fly away little dreamer, keep your eyes on the sky.

Everything will be alright, so don’t let them pass you by.

So, fly away little dreamer, you must ride the wind to those great heights.

Keep your voice strong, keep sharing your song, and keep fighting the good fight!

Speaking Volumes:Online Writing/Creative Arts Group

Hi, everyone!

I’m working on creating a writing group blog and I am hoping some of you will want to join it, or just read the posts.

It will be called Speaking Volumes and it will be a place for aspiring writers to share their  writing ambitions. I would also like to hear from, musicians and song writers, visual artists, and other creative people. Share with me what your imagination holds, and I will share with you what is in mine.

There, I will post writing prompts/assignments, and you can either post your work as a comment for people give feedback and possibly gain some people to bounce other ideas off  of, or you can send them to me by email, and I’ll post 2 or 3 of them on the site.

So, here’s some of my advice to get you started:

– Start keeping a journal everyday! Record dreams you have while sleeping, anything you  see, hear, smell, which going through your daily activities. This is what I do, and then I write poetry and short stories based on them. Your own mind is definitely your greatest resource as a creative person!

You can work on the writing prompts as long as you need to, just make sure you tell me  which one your work is based on. You can also send me more than one at a time, if you are so ambitious.

If there is enough interest, I might also do chats on twitter from time to time, to connect  with some of you that way. We can use the hashtag #SpeakingVolumes.

I will start posting prompts next month, as I finish creating the the site, and give people a chance to let me know if they would like to participate. I will post here when the site is ready and give you think for all of you to follow me over there too. Have a great New Year, everyone! Thanks for following!
