Ok, so some of you probably seen my “blog” in blogspot.com, that one have not been updated for quite sometime, so am starting all over again, and this time right here at WordPress.

I’ve decided also that I’m not a particularly good blogger unless I’m really inspired by something cool happening –and when something cool happens I usually want to enjoy it rather than worrying about writing it down. Or when I just need to share thoughts that going through my head.
So, though I pledge to do my best on the blog entry thing . . . I think most of the time I’ll just check in and let you folks know stuff that you might find exciting, inspiring, or intriguing. 

That’s kinda how I think the blog thing is going to work out for me.  I’d like it to be interactive.  I’ll check in and let you know what I’m reading, listening to, watching, or thinking about – then you (the collective ‘you’ out there) write me at thisfire[at]gmail.com and let me know what YOU’RE thinking, reading, listening to.
How’s that sound?!

Eat Your Beets!

This is probably my last gig to attend to this year. Well, that is apart from dropping by at Terno Inferno at saGuijo, and The Ronnies Christmas party at 77 Cafe the same night.

I have always enjoyed the music of Taken by Cars and Techy Romantics, so it’s nice that they’re both playing at the same bill and also launching their own new music videos. It’s been awhile since I last saw them play. And according to the invite there will be a total of 24 musical acts and 2 stages.

So come on down to B-Side and enjoy the show! 🙂

Meiday! Meiday!

If you haven’t heard of Meiday! Meiday!, it’s either you’re old, not in Facebook, or simply not interested in the local (indie) scene.

Meiday, as it is called by its regular partyphiles, is a sort of Woodstock Pinoy version, which features the local scene’s most in-demand bands, as well as upcoming bands that prove original Pinoy music’s demise is far from being witnessed by this generation. It’s the brainchild of Mei Bastes, who takes care of the nitty-gritty: from booking bands, to renting equipment, producing shirts, contacting sponsors and hosting the big night.

Now on it’s third year of celebrating free music and parties. Mei have no idea how long she can keep going with these parties. But one thing for sure, it keeps getting better.

So if you haven’t been, it’s not too late to do so.
